  1. Minor correction in that he is 23 but still, he is younger than I thought he was. He will still more than likely get to Carlton, but I'd love for us to get involved. He is just the sort of player we need.
  2. I don't know why people are saying Tomlinson is slow. He's not lightning quick, but he certainly isn't slow.
  3. I agree. I'm not advocating we do it, but obviously Papley is open to the idea of playing for other clubs, so it might be an opportunity for us to sneak under the radar and get involved in the deal.
  4. Interesting reading what Scott Lucas, his manager, said this morning around the fact that while Carlton is his preference, he is keeping his options open. With Elliott out of the picture, there is no reason why we can't also get involved if we see the opportunity to do so.
  5. Melksham is a prime example of why you always need to hold fire in these situations. We need to allow the players we bring in to fit into our system and play a few games before we tee off on them. The club will never get it right all the time (no club does), but we need to actually see the bigger picture before we criticise the decision.
  6. Derrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrwayne is no former superstar of the game.
  7. What a headline. The article merely suggests he might be someone we could look at based on the fact we missed out on Elliott. At no point is there any evidence from either club or player that we have even a small amount of interest in him.
  8. Has there been anything more on Murray, or is this a deal that is likely to fly under the rader until the final few hours?
  9. True. Would he play as the second tall alongside McDonald? I feel like a third tall is too much for us with Fritsch and Melksham already down there, not to mention Trac spending minutes inside our forward 50 as well.
  10. On Demonland it is. There is logic here, you just need to wade through the rest to find it.
  11. I'm not much of a Membrey fan, but he did kick 44 goals for the season. I'd take those 40+ goals every day of the week right now.
  12. Bruce seems totally committed to getting to the Dogs. Can't see where we fit in at all.
  13. Funny you mention him - with the Saints obviously right into the other King, would they palm off both Bruce and Membrey with the idea that the King twins and, maybe, McCartin are their forwards for the future?
  14. You ain't killing my buzz. Very happy to have him on board.
  15. Interesting. I see you've ruled out McKay, and you would expect others like Curnow, Ben Brown etc to be well and truly off the market, so I'm interested in who this might be and if it's someone who would slot in to our best 22.
  16. Great get for the club. Looking forward to seeing him improve our best 22 and be part of our push back up the ladder in 2020.
  17. And to add to this, it's never been reported that we've shown the slightest bit of interest in him, so it can't be a 'slap in the face' to the club if we didn't show interest in the first place.
  18. How credible is the poster?
  19. If we're a fair way down the path with him and Freo already, then I'd suggest our second rounder (or a future second rounder) is what has pretty much been agreed upon. I think most supporters assumed that would be the price from the outset. I think it's a fair deal all round if it's the outcome.
  20. If you don't ask then you don't receive. Not every player we chase will end up at the club, and this year that player is Elliott. Didn't hurt us to ask the question and put a contract in front of him, and thankfully he has told us his intentions on the first day of the trade period so we still have time to use that cash in other ways, or keep it to re-sign others next year. Onwards and upwards.
  21. I'd be asking for that at a minimum. With three years left on his deal they will need to give us some seriously good picks/players for us to let him go.
  22. To be fair, there isn't a whole lot in it at this stage. I guess if Mark does get the CEO job then, we his both his father and brother there, he might have more reason to go over there. However, with Gus under a long term contract, you would expect the club to ask for something very significant to let him go. We hold all the cards in this one.
  23. Mitch Cleary saying on Trade Radio that the Tomlinson paperwork should be finalised today.
  24. Will we look elsewhere for another small forward, or potentially put that into upping the offer for Frost?
  25. Me too, but we live in a world where it happens all the time. If it does transpire, then we need to get as much out of them as possible and run. But... I don't really think it will happen in the end.
