  1. McDonald is playing 3rd tall it looks. Tomlinson out - Weiderman in
  2. One observation... he is more goal hungry now compared to 2020. Not a chance in hell he snaps over his shoulder from 40m out last year. He is backing himself in and will only get better. Exciting times ahead.
  3. I have had H&A Trident for nearly 15yrs. Away games are not guaranteed Level 2 seating, they are general admission entry, any upgrade you want is at your own cost.
  4. It is a Ratten to St. Kilda under Richardson scenario. If team doesn't perform, then Goodwin goes and Yze fills the void.
  5. We now need to lock him in for a few years. Would hate for him to finally start to be showing something and then walk out on us.
  6. Lots of recruiters said they'd have picked Young at 3... then he slips to Pick 7. Makes sense.
  7. I remember a lot of "Why did we take Oliver?" comments a few years ago. "Overweight, did even make Vic. Country, blah blah blah". I'm backing Taylor and gang to get it right here... even if it is an 'unconventional' pick.
  8. Very very very rarely look on here these days... but all of this reminds me of 'Grand New Flag'. Not getting my hopes up.
  9. Would have been happy with these picks if we had the chance: Gary Ablett Jr. (father-son) Stephen Silvagni (father-son) Dustin Fletcher (father-son) Kane Cornes (younger brother) Shaun Burgoyne (younger brother)
  10. That was his first draft I think (dated April)... he has since updated it and now has McCartin going at Pick #1. His phantom draft also has Reece McKenzie still available for us at Pick #40, and I hope this is the case come tomorrow night. He is the best forward in the draft in my opinion (including McCartin and Wright). Brayshaw, Petracca, and McKenzie would be a MASSIVE win for us. MASSIVE!
  11. Exactly... It is more wishful thinking that he gets to Pick #40. A key position player with his bulk just shouldn't move as well as he does. This is also bearing in mind he didn't even play TAC Cup last season. Big call, but I think he is Hogan-like in ways. I guess we will just see how he develops in time. I'd love to have him at Melbourne though.
  12. If it weren't for the fact that I reckon we as a club need more midfielders, I'd HAPPILY take McKenzie at Pick #3. Upside is massive I reckon... disregarding his size, and ability to monster opponents which will be negated a bit in the big league, I just reckon he has tools and movement that the others don't. If he ran a 13-14 beep he would be a top-3 lock.
  13. I'd rather take Brayshaw and Lever, delist a contracted player, then hope like hell that Reece McKenzie slips to Pick #40. 196cm/105kg beast full forward. He didn't play TAC Cup last season, so his name was never up there with the likes of McCartin, Wright, and Goddard... but jeez he can play. Pros: Has genuine speed and jump, unbelievable below his knees for a bloke his size, natural footballer who leads into the right spots, wears his heart on his sleeve, and has mongrel in spades. Cons: Poor endurance at this point, but hasn't been in the TAC Cup as long as other well known key position prospects. A bit hit and miss with his set shot... however, improved hugely throughout the season. Where he goes draft day is a complete guess to me... could easily slip to us at #40, but I honestly wouldn't be surprised to see him bolt into top-10 calculations. I'll go on a limb and say that he will end up having a better career than McCartin.
  14. Our club is now run by shrewd operators... I wouldn't be at all surprised if he has made some sort of a commitment to the club to make a comeback, however, this is being kept under wraps until the decision on our priority pick is made first. Pick 2, pick 3, pick 4, and Clark is a MASSIVE step in another rebuild. (Yes, I know the above situation is highly unlikely to happen... but at least we can dream. Haha)
  15. As much as I hate Collingwood and as much as it pains me to say it, there isn't much Eddie says that I disagree with in regards to the game and where it is at. He has a good business mind, but also still has the mindset of the average supporter in the crowd. He is president of the biggest club in the country and has every right to sit up in a cushy corporate box every week, yet is still happy to sit in the crowd with his family and mark down his goals and behinds in the Footy Record. If he wasn't so one-eyed, he'd be a very good AFL CEO in my opinion.
  16. Here is a photo of the jumper (from AFL website) we will be wearing for Indigenous Round this season. I rate it! With the recent use of our training jumper as the template for special occasions (Indigenous Round, and Heritage Jumper), I'd say the club is looking to transition to this template for our Clash jumper for next season. As I've said numerous times on here, I'd seriously love for this to be the template of a RED clash jumper next season. Wait and see I guess.
  17. You can't really blame conditioning/medical staff for such injuries in my opinion. I've worked in the TAC Cup, and sometimes the players just don't present their injuries until it's too late. I've seen it happen before... 2 blokes both had stress related foot injuries: - Player 1 went to the medical staff at first sign of symptom and was diagnosed with a stress related 'hot spot' on the navicular bone. He spent about 5-6weeks in rehab at training and was eventually given the all clear. Played the rest of the season and dominated. - Player 2 went to the medical staff after trying to play through pain for a fortnight (and concealing it from the club) and was then diagnosed with a fractured navicular bone didn't play for the rest of the season. Luckily enough he had another year in the system and dominated in his final season. Unfortunately some players are just so competitive and driven that they continue to play with discomfort and don't present their injuries until it is too late.
  18. ... and that is the fundamental flaw in the free-agency system: The rich get richer and the poor get poorer. Once upon time Hawthorn would have to trade a first round draft (e.g. Pick 18) and a decent up-and-coming player (e.g. Bradley Hill) to get someone of Frawley's quality... however, now with this system they keep their first round draft pick, they keep their player, and they get Frawley as well. With this free agency system, the top-end clubs will have a longer reign at the top because they can constantly top up for nothing if they are smart with their salary cap... whereas the bottom-end clubs will have an extended run at the bottom because they will lose their mature players and have to spend a few years developing freshly drafted kids.
  19. I'm pretty sure you just made up that entire post
  20. Neale Daniher's biggest battle Another Melbourne coach struck down with a life-threatening illness. I knew he was ill, but didn't know what the illness was until I read this article. Hopefully he has many years of quality life left.
  21. This looks like a REAL football jumper. I love it! Invert the colors and shrink the monogram and we have our new clash jumper
  22. I hate white as much as anyone... but I'd be more accepting if it at least had some token 'Heritage' in it. Just adding a simple 'MFC' monogram makes it more appealing I think. This design sort of steals a bit from the Sandringham Dragons clash jumper. The yoke is more reminiscent of the size used by Melbourne, and rather than the dragon at the bottom, it has the 'MFC' monogram. Thoughts???
  23. Know nothing about him... he had a quiet game in the Young Guns game: 7 kicks 6 handballs (5 contested possessions) 4 marks 3 tackles 2 clearances 0 scoring shots However, we had absolutely no hesitation in reading his name out... no 'umms' or 'ahhs' at all. From what I've read and seen post-draft it sounds like we may have got a little diamond in the rough.
  24. Going to be an interesting draft... only 1, 2, 5 and 8 appear to be guaranteed locks so far according to various media reports: #1 - Boyd #2 - Kelly #5 - Kolodjashnij #8 - McDonald Names seen linked to each of the remaining picks: #3 - Billings, Aish, Scharenberg #4 - Billings, Aish, Scharenberg, Bontempelli #6 - Aish, Scharenberg, Bontempelli, Freeman, Salem #7 - Scharenberg, McCarthy, Freeman #9 - Scharenberg, Freeman, Salem #10 - Bontempelli, Freeman, Salem Definitely going to be a 'slider' out of this... wouldn't surprise me if Aish managed to get his way to our pick either: #3 - Billings (Almost a lock if media is anything to go by) #4 - Bontempelli (Big word on Bulldogs being keen) #6 - Scharenberg (Collingwood take him ahead of Aish I reckon) #7 - Aish/ McCarthy (McCarthy to fill a key position role) #9 - Aish/ Freeman/ Salem
