  1. I noticed in the first half he tried to take marks from behind by hooking the ball out with one hand and hopefully completing the mark out the back, or being able to pounce on the ball if it spilled. Unfortunately it spilled at every attempt, but not where he wanted it too so he was beaten to it. He has to try not be so cute and just attempt the mark with both hands. His game in the second half was ok and he he kicked a few goals, the way he does, if we are expecting Jack to be a pack crasher or a really physical player then that's not going to happen, what he is, he is and he may become a bit more physical as time goes by but it probably won't be much more than what he is at the moment. As long as he goes when it's his turn ok, if he doesn't then it's not. Jack has a way of getting away and putting himself in position to mark and goal and this is pretty important if you want to win games, one failed tackle is not as important as 3 goals, they are whet wins games.
  2. My son and I were talking about this on the way home, we both thought you couldn't do a drop kick if you were caught with the ball, as my son said it is technically a free once you get caught and the ball hits the ground. Then there was the free we didn't get, that I mentioned earlier, when a doggies player scooped the ball out of bounds and we didn't get a free for deliberate OOB or incorrect disposal.
  3. i think that Sunday's game shows that we need a fit Spencer, having Max and Spence operating in tandem would have put pressure back on the Bullies with the two of them changing in the forward line. Pedo gives his all, but is largely ineffectual as a ruckman and it's just a holding pattern until Max is ready to come back on. It would give us more flexibility with Hogan able to move around the ground, Pedo can switch from forward to defence if needed and force the opposition to move a tall to defence.
  4. Why do you think that? We were ordinary today, but I can't see where they should have scored anymore than they did, where am I wrong? I thought the margin was about right.
  5. At one point today a Doggies player, double handed, threw the ball out of bounds and neither the throw or the deliberate OOB were paid against him, of course they are slick and quick with the ball, any team would be if they were allowed to throw like it was rugby. We were hesitant today, we fumbled the ball too much, we dropped marks and the players lost faith in their team mates to win the contest, there were so many occasions when a player would leave his man to help out and when the ball came out it was to an unattended opposition player. Wagner played his worst game today and will probably be sent to Casey next week, the mistakes he made were glaring and really obvious. Hunt was ordinary and will probably have a rest next week. Garland was terrible and Dunn would have been better today. Viney has to stop trying to win the game on his own, there were many times today when we got in each others way and they came out with the ball. We are a side trying to get in the Eight, they are a side looking to consolidate a top Four position and it showed today.
  6. We can only be thankful for that, the only thing they had in common was leg speed and the tendency to try to kick when going flat out, instead of steadying first.
  7. Collingwood absolutely creamed Brisbane tonight and we should beat them, but we are talking about Melbourne. I think they will trouble us because sides like Brisbane, Carlton and Essendon always do and that's the thing we have to stop.
  8. The flag is up for grabs this year, much like 1990 and there are a few sides that can grab it, we may be one. Depth and player management will be vital and if we have the depth that we claim to have, we can rest players during the year and allow the younger players a week off here and there. I thnk the Cats are the team to beat this year, they have topped up and will win most if not all games they play at home and that's a good start. North are pretenders in my opinion.
  9. I was seriously concerned about the Saints game, they match up well on us and it was at their home ground, a ground we don't handle all that well. I'm feeling confident about tomorrow and whilst I'm not expecting us to win by a lot, I'm expecting us to win.
  10. There will be pressure on the players tomorrow to perform, they have a few breathing down their necks, surely ANB will get a game next week. Got to feel for Terlich, I'd say his card's been marked and he has played his last game for Melbourne. From what Roos has said he doesn't seem to see Trenners back in the side any time soon, I'm not sure why he would be singled out and have to put his hand up to say he's ready to play AFL again.
  11. That's true, but Roos set the whole thing in motion and maybe we wouldn't have attracted some of these guys if he wasn't there. I give him credit for turning us into a football club again, first time for decades.
  12. Not sure if this has been mentioned at all after your post, because I'm catching up with the thread, but this will give Jesse a sample of the rigours of playing with a WA side. There is a lot of travel involved and after travelling to Qld. last game he's travelled across country to see his folks, wonder how he feels now and if he'd be happy to do it every second week.
  13. If you read what Roosy said you will see that he talks about when, not if, Dawes returns to the side.
  14. I'd say he means that the club haven't told him that he is under pressure and unless he performs better he won't be offered a contract. All players want to get their name out there for various commercial purposes and endorsements.
  15. Couldn't have put it better, I've been a fan for a while now, he has a bit of a swagger about him, something we've lacked for a long time.
  16. H was terrible against the Saints and there was apparently, a reason, according to Roos he was suffering the effects of concussion from the week before. If he is ok now he may get a gig, but in all probability he will play for Casey. Salem was pretty poor against the Saints, but he was concussed during the game, is he ok now? Given the fact they played H too early perhaps they will give Salem a rest this week. No change for mine and we will win.
  17. Some of the hard work Tyson does in the packs doesn't amount to a possession but it stops the opposition from getting the ball out. Have a look at the game and see just how hard he scraps and fights. Wagner can kick the ball ok, he may make a few mistakes, but how many games has he played?
  18. I doubt he will ever kick a bag of goals, but he puts in every week and knows that he has to, to keep him spot in the side. When we first talked about getting him I was against him, but he's turned it around, he's not fat anymore and he shows courage in the contest. He has a few years left in him and seems determined to make the most of them.
