We have a winner. The only problem was having to fashion a make shift full forward, but gee I'd kill for that backline.

Close but no banana.

White has a year left on his contract as does Schulz I believe. Dyson signed a one year deal with the Dons. Looks like the boundaries are shifting a little and the emphasis is on trading blokes still in contract rather than have them walk for nothing.

Sam Power to the Roos in exchange for Pick 48. Seems everyone's getting in on the act. Someone better tell those no nothing recruiting managers the draft is only 25 deep.
-
Yes, but if they do use 90 for him, I'm pretty sure they have to use all their previous picks as well. Is that really the deal. Pick 90 for King and Gardiner?.... Cat's making salary cap room.

Hawthorn fans got over trading Croad (remember the vigil at Glenferrie) - the Demon fans will get over Trapper. Footy goes on, it's regenerative at it's best - groundhog day at it's worst.
-
Well said Old. Footy's a funny game to follow, in part because supporters have such definate opinions about players without ever really knowing who they are. I'll miss them both, but if I had to fight in the trenches I know who I'd want standing beside me.
-
I think you're spot on. Carlton aren't adverse to creative accountancy.
-
I was enthralled by that game at the time. I watched it with a big Crows fan at the time. I was quite drunk by the endof the game , but one thing that has stuck with me ever since is the fact that despite TJ's efforts we didn't win. I can name any number of games that Robbie or Garry or Neita or Jimma won off their own boot. Name one that Travis did? He's not a champion. As H has so aptly put it ... he's just a very lazy boy.
-
Collingwood... closely followed by Carlton... then everyone else.
-
No part of me understands how trading Trapper equals bottoming out. Crikey we won only five games this year. Travis played in four of those five. The last one that Carlton tanked and he was allowed to pick up 42 uncontested possessions and the other three where he averaged just under 17 possessions a game. Besides rd 22 his highest possession game was 25 (twice). Last year in 22 games he got 20 possessions or less 12 times. Hardly stellar figures from someone that is supposed to be an elite midfielder.

It appears Done. Channel 7 reporting it's been done, nothing on the AFL website yet(that's the only real confirmation IMO) SEN spoke to Kennedy's manager who said he has agreed to contractual terms with the Eagles... I feel sorry for him. Small pawn in a very big game. I think a lot more trades will be finalised once this sordid little story is finished with.
-
I know you are, but what am I....
-
Unfortunately I don't. Every year Trapper's contract has come up there's been talk of him going to another club. First it was Collingwood, then Essendon, then Sydney, his contract is due to expire next year... as Old said he'd quite happily hold the club over a barrell to get what he wanted. He's a lazy and selfish footballer. He has a poor reputation at the club. If we are paying 400K to get him to Brisbane and he's been at the club ten years, then rest assured the people at the club have had enough. Trading him isn't about ego's and being seen to be active in trade week, it's actually about developing a winning culture instead of accepting mediocrity.
-
Has a deal been struck with Damon White yet? The other name mentioned (whose contract status I'm unsure of) is Ben McKinley from West Coast.
-
I'm glad some others are seeing the sense behind this and not blinded by the occasional flash of sunshine on the persistent cloud and haze that has been the hallmark of Trappers career.

Sydney were very interested in Miller, but Bailey's preference was to keep him unless we got something special. Obviously Bailey feels there's something there to work with. Miller's probably the most maligned player on the list (now Ward and Godders have gone) but his leadership and competitiveness shouldn't be easily dismissed.
-
and what exactly are you basing that on? The problem with trade time is that so many supporters come out and say "that's not enough... or how about we do this deal, or why didn't we chase so and so." The trouble being is that it bears no actual resemblance to what is going on in the real world. CAC, Bailey and Connolly are very smart operators, they've been intimately involved in footy and list management for a long, long time. It's what they get paid to do. I wonder if it has actually occured to anyone that pick 14 for Travis is actually the best offer on the table?
-
Outstanding.. That's one down, one to go.
-
Thanks Old, It took me 20 minutes to think out my tripe and you've summarised it in one sentence.
-
I think with trade time some people must deliberately park their Brain in Neutral. Travis has spent 10 years at the club and has finished in the B&F twice He's played two consistent years in ten, he may very well rip it up for Brisbane next year and I'd expect to see some sort of biopic saying something like "expect a big season from the former number one draft pick as he has something to prove" Well guess what he never proved it with us, so time to move him on. If he plays well for Brisbane how does this really hurt us, he's being traded for a whole range of issue we gain more by improving the playing culture than simply getting pick 14. People were so dead against getting Shaw, but a quick statistical comparison shows that there was neglible difference in his output to Trappers, yet people want a top ten pick for Travis- geez get real. Just for the record Travis played 15 games in 08 he averaged 20 possessions at four and a half errors a game for a total prowess ranking of 48.7. Shaw played 14 games in 08 and averaged 2.5 possessions less, but with two less errors a game for a total prowess ranking of 46.3. Yet reading this forum you'd be forgiven for thinking one was the missing link in the premiership chain and the other a usless dud... As for pick 14 I don't think people should concern themselves with the likelihood the club will pick the likes of a Luke Molan or Nick Smith again....
-
would be as an assistant. We have Williams, Mahoney and now Wellman apparently. Scott would be a handy inclusion.
-
Just 14. Brisbane get Shaw.
-
It's as good as done. Trapper has agreed to go to Brisbane, we've agreed to pay a % of the last year of his contract, Brisbane are happy to send Wood to the Pies and he's happy to go there. Shaw has apparently agreed to go to Brisbane after Lonie turned them down (oh well nice career you had for a while) and all they are haggling about is who gets to keep the change after they pay the cabbie. Final upshot for us is that we get pick 14 for Travis.
