  1. I know you are, but what am I....
  2. Unfortunately I don't. Every year Trapper's contract has come up there's been talk of him going to another club. First it was Collingwood, then Essendon, then Sydney, his contract is due to expire next year... as Old said he'd quite happily hold the club over a barrell to get what he wanted. He's a lazy and selfish footballer. He has a poor reputation at the club. If we are paying 400K to get him to Brisbane and he's been at the club ten years, then rest assured the people at the club have had enough. Trading him isn't about ego's and being seen to be active in trade week, it's actually about developing a winning culture instead of accepting mediocrity.
  3. Has a deal been struck with Damon White yet? The other name mentioned (whose contract status I'm unsure of) is Ben McKinley from West Coast.
  4. I'm glad some others are seeing the sense behind this and not blinded by the occasional flash of sunshine on the persistent cloud and haze that has been the hallmark of Trappers career.
  5. Sydney were very interested in Miller, but Bailey's preference was to keep him unless we got something special. Obviously Bailey feels there's something there to work with. Miller's probably the most maligned player on the list (now Ward and Godders have gone) but his leadership and competitiveness shouldn't be easily dismissed.
  6. and what exactly are you basing that on? The problem with trade time is that so many supporters come out and say "that's not enough... or how about we do this deal, or why didn't we chase so and so." The trouble being is that it bears no actual resemblance to what is going on in the real world. CAC, Bailey and Connolly are very smart operators, they've been intimately involved in footy and list management for a long, long time. It's what they get paid to do. I wonder if it has actually occured to anyone that pick 14 for Travis is actually the best offer on the table?
  7. Outstanding.. That's one down, one to go.
  8. Thanks Old, It took me 20 minutes to think out my tripe and you've summarised it in one sentence.
  9. I think with trade time some people must deliberately park their Brain in Neutral. Travis has spent 10 years at the club and has finished in the B&F twice He's played two consistent years in ten, he may very well rip it up for Brisbane next year and I'd expect to see some sort of biopic saying something like "expect a big season from the former number one draft pick as he has something to prove" Well guess what he never proved it with us, so time to move him on. If he plays well for Brisbane how does this really hurt us, he's being traded for a whole range of issue we gain more by improving the playing culture than simply getting pick 14. People were so dead against getting Shaw, but a quick statistical comparison shows that there was neglible difference in his output to Trappers, yet people want a top ten pick for Travis- geez get real. Just for the record Travis played 15 games in 08 he averaged 20 possessions at four and a half errors a game for a total prowess ranking of 48.7. Shaw played 14 games in 08 and averaged 2.5 possessions less, but with two less errors a game for a total prowess ranking of 46.3. Yet reading this forum you'd be forgiven for thinking one was the missing link in the premiership chain and the other a usless dud... As for pick 14 I don't think people should concern themselves with the likelihood the club will pick the likes of a Luke Molan or Nick Smith again....
  10. would be as an assistant. We have Williams, Mahoney and now Wellman apparently. Scott would be a handy inclusion.
  11. It's as good as done. Trapper has agreed to go to Brisbane, we've agreed to pay a % of the last year of his contract, Brisbane are happy to send Wood to the Pies and he's happy to go there. Shaw has apparently agreed to go to Brisbane after Lonie turned them down (oh well nice career you had for a while) and all they are haggling about is who gets to keep the change after they pay the cabbie. Final upshot for us is that we get pick 14 for Travis.
  12. Taken with a fourth round pick by the Kangaroos. I have a feeling we might have taken him as a Rookie if he were available. He's in Adelaide having a medical apparently. I wonder how interested we are/were? Seems likely that the Crows will be replacing Meesen with Moran - maybe with whatever pick/s we give to them.
  13. Small problem is that Wood is under contract. Even if he wasn't he'd still want to have to come to us. Why would he do that when we have White, Jamar, PJ and are now committed to Meesen. He knows that he'll be the only realistic option at Collingwood to support Fraser.
  14. SEN reported the same thing. Two different sources... I'd say it's more probable than not. BTW Jaded - players on our list picked after pick 43. Bartram (60) Bruce (64) Buckley (53) Carroll (RD) Davey (RD) Ferguson (66) Garland (46) Jamar (RD) McDonald (RD) Miller (55) your boy Robbo (68 - then RD) Warnock (RD) Weetra (62) Whelan (50) Bode (RD) There's talk this draft is weak and even to the point where people don't think a good player will be available at 14 let alone 43. I dare say none of these people are club recruiters.
  15. I like that much better than pick 20.
  16. I actually think Kennedy will be all right, but I don't like the idea of trading something the Eagles want to get him. My natural inclination is to say "stuff em all!"
  17. No. Not joking. (except for Y_M and I'd exercise my blocking thingy on my account to skip over any of his posts.) Both the Meesen deal and the Travis deal are in today's papers if you want to look.
  18. Ah sorry, bit behind the times... but you get the idea.
  19. Absolutely. Collingwood will trade their first pick because they think they already have a capable list, but their ruck division is Fraser, Fanning and Bryan.... quite possibly the worst rucks in the comp. They need a ruckman. They'll trade their first pick to get Wood.
  20. I'm probably the only one on here that will agree with you about Playfair BT - though I am a little biased because he is the only AFL listed player that I actually know. I think Geelong needed a CHF and their KPP backs were covered - so they tried to turn him into a forward and he did alright for a while. IMO I think he is far more of a CHB than he is a forward (his kicking is too erratic to be a genuine forward). I doubt we'll get him though, unless we trade Miller for Bolton and then there's a slim chance we might look to cover our KPP stocks.
  21. I was speaking recently with a long time North member and about where our respective lists were at. I questioned him about Leigh Brown and why he was trade bait. My perception was that he had all the necessary attributes to be a solid KPP, but couldn't cement a spot. His comment was that he's soft, there's a lot of bluster and bravado about Brown, but when push comes to shove he doesn't go when it's his turn. He said a lot of North supporters wanted him to be traded for those reasons.
  22. TJ has one year to run, it's worth paying a % of that contract for the remaining year to get the deal done.
