  1. Absolutely... It's a rarity to say about a Collingwood player, not only was he great player, but a truly humble and sincere gentleman. Vale Len.
  2. I wouldn't want to be the player at the club that refused to be traded, thereby killing off the chance of getting Chris Judd. Jones can't be traded, but Davey and McLean can be.
  3. Once upon a time a game was played at the G in rd 22. Both teams had nothing to play for and everything to gain by losing. One team did what it had done for half a season and tanked it's arse off and gained the first pick in the draft. The other team did what football teams have been doing thoughout history - it played to win costing itself draft picks. One day a brave Knight emerged. Telstra Dome or the G. Courage and Honour or the Dunghill Blues. C'mon Juddy you know where your destiny lies.
  4. If I was the Bulldogs I wouldn't trade pick five for a 29 year old with dodgy knees and a third round pick - in fact I'd say you were trying to play me for a sucker. It's hard to see West Coast dealing with Essendon (no coach and historically they're [censored] at the trade table) and Collingwood where there's still a bit of bad blood from Fraser Gehrig (and they don't have the required early draft pick and it's unlikely any other Victorian club will give it to them). Richmond will just be praying he goes to the PSD. (aint gonna happen)
  5. Speculation... like they were claiming they knew who the shortlist for the Melbourne coaching positions were... It's amusing that these guys have both radio and newspaper gigs... so they can be wrong twice as often.
  6. The Eagles don't like Collingwood from a long way back....(think Fraser Gehrig) They have a terrible reputation re trades. If they could deal with anyone else they would... I think Judd will nominate one club to go to. I think that the talk of Collingwood and Carlton are simply media speculation and wishful thinking on the part of board members. In all likely hood he will meet with the Dees and we'll be able to put a pitch to him.
  7. Kangaroos along with the Bulldogs and Geelong have ruled themselves out. Saint Kilda would have trouble fitting him in their cap and Richmond by their own coaches admission won't be competitive until 2010. IMO that leaves five realistic destinations. Us, Hawthorn, Essendon, Carlton and the Pies.
  8. Ahh love, that takes me back....
  9. He also gave back a large chunk of the money we paid to him. I rate Templeton far more than I did Peter Moore. I was at the Junction oval when he tried to smash Brad Gotch through the advertising hording with a hip and shoulder.
  10. Is this media talk, because they don't know squat... is it supporter talk, because they know less. Judd hasn't indicated where he's going. The deal isn't done he's weighing up the options.
  11. It won't come down to an auction between clubs. Judd will chose the club he wants to go to and that club will then have to work with the Eagles to secure the trade. It won't matter what Carlton can offer if Judd doesn't want to play there. I think the chance to slip straight into the Dees as maybe co-captain with Neita, wearing No 3 and with a new coach playing on the MCG would be very attractive to Judd, particularly if we could satisfy his monetary arrangements. Some may see this as sentimentality - but no other player in recent memory has attracted as much attention about his past allegiances as Judd. He's discussed captaining the Dees, he's attended training... the man still burns a candle.. let's get him.
  12. It looks like Sydney may hold onto Jolly, so they wouldn't immediately target a ruckman. Roos has always gone hard for a target in trade week and isn't adverse to trading any pick to get what he wants. Trapper fits the bill, in terms of their needs -their list is on limited time, Trav would make an immediate impact. If they offered their first pick for him I'd jump on it.
  13. For the record, I want Judd. I really don't want to have to trade any U23s (just because it's robbing our strengths - i think the Coasters will be after picks to grab Morton/Palmer/Masten/Rance anyway)... I see a few of their supporters on BF ( ) are keen on Robbo. It's a possibility. I think about I mil a year is about right for Judd, (He could share captaincy with Neita for a year - and automatically as captain be paid a premium wage anyway) I won't be critical of the club though if it doesn't pursue him if he starts to get towards 1.2 -1.5 mil a year as you lose too much with not being able to retain better players on your list.
  14. The issue is his knee... if it gets worse next year and he starts to drop off then we only have to carry him for another year... rather than two (see any recent Yze thread). It's a prudent move by the club. The club isn't offering him up for trade, its offering him two years... if he loves the club he'll sign on.
  15. Wont' get Morris, along with Harris he's untouchable.... I'd trade Robbo and Miller for a second round pick and Gia.... Fev is apparently off the table, hence the Bullies offering Robbo a three year contract. I think its pretty simple... If he loves the club he'll sign for two years, otherwise it's thanks for the memories.
  16. I didn't grow even a cm after I turned 14... it's different for everyone... you shouldn't draft on guess work.
  17. Exactly Rhino - good get that! I believe Danny was part of the infamous Lachlan Veale trade... anyhoo... not surprisingly he doesn't fit into Clarko's new accountability regime down there in Hawk land. I agree JJC that Fergs is brave... but, unfortunately he just isn't big enough and his decision making is questionable. There are some clubs making some desperate gurgling noises re trading for KPP (Bulldogs) so he maybe offered a lifeline somewhere.
  18. Edit. Mark Seaby (Gone) Jamie Charman (Gone) Justin Kositzizxccnik (Gone) Gonna have to pay the man if we want to trade for a ruckman, gonna have to pay him twice if we want one that can actually play. Melbourne have a new proviso for their recruiting manager.... it's called the dud brother ultimatum... don't draft em! (OK that's just tongue in cheek... I've got no idea about the kid)
  19. I don't get the opportunity to watch many live matches, probably only a couple a year. I've watched Travis closely the last couple of years in particular and this probably only amounts to about five games in total( so I am happy for people to correct me) What i have seen is Travis doesn't run hard, he walks around the stoppages and occasionally runs to get off his man - Like Yze he points a lot - he never runs to pick up a player - ever. Likewise when it's time for his rotation he ambles to the bench - people make fun of guys like Jamar sprinting to the bench, but any coach will tell you that there is nothing more frustrating than players who won't come from the ground when they're supposed to. Is this the first time Travis has played off half back in his ten year career - No it isn't - it's the first time he got 42 touches, but he wasn't tagged and 10 of those were still clangers. Maybe Bailey sees that he can do it, but don't get fooled by one game against the worst performed side of the last five years. If Trav is going to play that sweeping role he'd want to start adding a few more strings to his bow.
  20. Such is football, as already stated both Wardy and Godders can be incredibly proud of their achievements. I'll especially miss Franky... I doubt there's been too many blokes play 100 games for the MFC that had less talent and more heart than him. I think Neaves is still eligible to be re-rookied by us, but I'd be surprised if he was. He didn't show enough to get promoted. With only one real ruckman on the list - two NQR ruckman and no development ruckman... it's time to draft at least two more rucks. I'm not in favour of trading for someone like Woods - he Meesen, Moran etc will all be far too expensive... better to tighten our belts and just pick some ourselves.
  21. Ditto. I'd be surprised if he went top 20, given that he's an undersized KPP that appears to be largely a lead, mark, kick type.
  22. That's a requirement for all trades, if a player won't agree to it - then it can't happen eg. Ryan Ferguson to Hawthorn.
  23. There's quite a few clubs that have already started to make noises about trades. The Bulldogs, Pies, Swans, Dockers, Blues and Richmond seem to be treading down the same well worn path. Like all clubs there's pressure on coaches and footy managers to improve lists immediately. I think it's very interesting this year that clubs like Geelong, Port and even Hawthorn are flying. They've all sort improvement via the draft (with the exception of specific trades to address weaknesses eg: Ottens and Wakelin). I took Bailey's comments about trading to mean that he's in this camp. Doesn't mean he won't trade, but it's unlikely to be for a big name player. I like our Under 23 list a lot and consider them virtually untradable (except for the likes of a Judd). I wouldn't expect too much movement from fringe players either as these players are rarely traded. The main bait is some of our more experienced players, and I'd expect maybe only one or two of them to be traded in exchange for draft picks. We may get some excited interest from clubs with a specific need (Collingwood/Bulldogs - Key Forward or Richmond/Blues/Swans - Ruck). If it were me I'd look at trading two or three of the following players for the right deal: (and this is purely my personal opinion based on getting the best outcome for the MFC). Travis, Robbo, Miller, Jamar, PJ, and either Bruce or Green (but it would have to be a very good result)

    SYDNEY

It's actually played at Subi Rhino... poor Maggies they have to travel... Eddie will think his throats been cut. I think you're right about the Hawks and Power... as Long as the Hawks can escape unscathed this week it should be a cracker of a match. You'd have to think Geelong will be absolute monty's for the Premiership now. My how quickly fortunes can change in footy. Open up a new line of betting for 08 - I reckon after the flyers teams have had this year, all sixteen will think they have a genuine chance for the premiership next year.
