Farewell Luke Jackson
I think Hipwood was taken as a Lions Academy product.

Farewell Luke Jackson
I disagree, Freo aren’t giving up two firsts and a first 18 player for Jackson …. That’s three players for one (albeit now marquee player) it’s just a little too high. Clubs have learnt from the cost/benefit equation of the Judd precedent when bringing in talent. Pick #1 is fair for Dogga, but not for three best 22 players. Similarly without trading the future second North are sliding back from pick 1 but still in the first round this year and are also getting an extra 1st rounder next year and a player who will be their FB for the best part of the next decade. It overvalues what in effect will be pick #2 anyway. Neither Darcy Tucker orBrad Hill and his fat contract are wort a future second rounder. Without that future second rounder (likely pick 19-21) it doesn’t work.

de Goey has signed on at the Filfth for another five years. Zero chance now Grundy doesn’t come to us.

Officially re-signed at the Filfth - a match made in a dumpster if ever there was one! https://www.afl.com.au/news/852390

Jack Bowes Salary Dump
I’m not against it Red, but how do convince Bowes to come to us when his wish is to play midfield and how do you get Tomo to agree to move interstate again? Deals like this are done months in advance, we aren’t getting Pick 7 which is all anyone really wants out of this deal.

Very informative W11, it seems to contradict what Goody was saying our fitness wasn’t the issue in us being overrun. Can I ask where you found this data?

Because small mids whose only trick is to find the ball and move it sideways or backwards are no longer in vogue. Midfielders who in vogue: Oliver and Petracca 😎

Hawks racism allegations (merged thread)
Just to clarify I’m not a lawyer, but how is being able to question your accuser through legal representation a ‘trick’?

Except the average age of our players isn’t 87 years old. Plenty of time left in our window.

Well judging by the May and Lever trades some folks here will find it hard to let it go because they could have made a much better deal!

Brayshaw had serious strapping on his knee and elbow as well.

4 year deal with an option for a fifth if he hits the triggers? (I assume that it would be based on the # of games if that was the case). If it is that situation (and I'm not saying it is necessarily the case with Tomo), but other players at other clubs have not been played in the seniors to avoid them hitting those triggers. Backers of the player might perceive that as unfair, backers of the club would argue it's entirely in the clubs best interest to do that.

Personally I think Bowey is too small to play wing, but if he can develop the tank you never know. I'd like to see Taj developed into a small lockdown defender in the Nev Jetta, Matty Whelan mould. He has clean skills, he's tough and disciplined and from the little I've seen he seems to make good decisions.

Adam Tomlinson on the move?
Keep in mind the sample size was small. In effect 6 games before he did his knee early in the game against North.

Not sure why the Pies are chasing Frampton. He's got less credits in the bank than his namesake Peter whose only hit was Frampton Comes Alive ... and that was pretty disappointing in itself.

I think the desire to bring Hird back into the fold at Essendon has led to a case of tone deafness. If they turned up their hearing devices and listened to Zac Merrett's underwhelming response to the possibility of Hird being reappointed it would give them pause for consideration before they pulled that lever.

Just thought I'd point out that North don't have a second round pick this year. I've posted the table of draft picks current as of today from Draft Guru below. We might have different opinions as to what a required player is. He spent most of the year at Casey - he's got one more year to run on a contract on reasonable $ for a guy that's likely again to spend the best part of 2023 kicking the dew off unless there are some significant injuries to key backs - and as @old55 has said the first in line appears to be Dan Turner anyway. I can absolutely see a situation where Tomo requests a trade in his own best interests and I can absolutely see the club agreeing to it if it helps them free up some TPP room.
