  1. I watched a lot of the championships the year Bradley came through. In my opinion he was the best player in them. Ash is spot on he played as a wingman and was sensational but there just isn't a spot for 6 foot 6 wingmen in the AFL. I would be interested but the price would be too high.
  2. 1. J. Brown 2. Franklin 3. Judd 4. Leurnberger (sp?) 5.Riewoldt 6. Kerr 7. Ablett Jr. 8. Glass 9. C. Cornes 10. Pavilich And Kruezer (sp?) would be very close to making that top 10. #2 is of course purely on playing ability, other factors would have to be assessed if he was a genuine chance to come to Melbourne
  3. msg from the event. Jmac from Jones, Bate, Green and Davey. Bate and Davey polled a little better then i expected. I would have thought White and Brown may have been in the top 5.
  4. Strange these results came out before the event had even concluded. My most recent update from my mate there was Petterd best first year player and Bruce leading after round 10. I received that after seeing all the results on here.
  5. Assuming they are at the Dees where do you see the following playing next year? Bartram: With Godders gone could become #1 run with player. May also may the step as an in and under ball winner, also showed in '06 can play as a small defender Bate: I like him as a roaming CHF. Can also play as a midfielder probably on the wing where he can still kick bomb goals and be a key go to man for inside 50's Bell: Great this year as a Defender. With Ward and Brown gone does he play a more attacking role? A move to the midfield? Personally i think he should be trying to be our Jimmy Clement Bruce: In the middle with perhaps more time up forward? great hands and very capable of finding the goals. Davey: We really do lack a crumbing forward. Should he play deeper. Also a capable wingman or even HBF. Dunn: I think he should focus on being a midfield run with player. Cam Ling should be looked at for inspiration. Frawley: Should continue to get big jobs down back. With his speed could also be an attacking option from D50 Green: Either a quarterback role or perhaps a return to the forward flank for Greeny. Doesn't win enough of his own ball to play as a centre square midfielder. Holland: Still the swingman. Full Back one week Full Forward the next Sandy the week after Chris Johnson: Doesn't win his own footy but a good user. HB or HF Paul Johnson: Has looked ok in the ruck ok up forward and ok at CHB without looking good at any. Ruck/Forward should be his focus Johnstone: Rd 22 as a Andrew Mcleod quarterback worked. I still think he is most dangerous getting his touches forward of centre. Wing for me. Miller: Looks more comfortable being an option up forward. I dunno i am a bit of loss with Brad should be playing. Newton: If Neitz and Robbo are both fit and still at Melbourne Newts will struggle to find a gig at FF. Will probably have to play further up the ground. Has shown glimpses on a wing. Petterd: Will continue to learn about AFL on the flanks back and forward. Sylvia: Is his fit enough to play in the middle? If Robbo leaves is he his goal square replacement? Whealtey: played some good footy this year as a mid sie back. I like when he pushes up the ground more and attacks the goals. Yze: Days in the middle may have passed. Probably used as a forward or even off a HBF.
  6. I remember the AFL considering allowing clubs to trade draft picks in the next years draft as part of a trade. Has this been allowed? If so it will have huge ramifications for the Judd deal. eg Carlton could trade pick 3 pick 21 and there first round from next year.
  7. wow, double negatives. For me (as much as i hate to say it) i would think Collingwood would be a good fit. Play at the G, good young side, excellent facilities (spesh recovery). On the downside Collingwood is big business hard to just hide away and play footy there. Also Collingwood lack top picks and a willingness to trade anything decent. Essendon and Carlton play home games at TD a ground CJ has said he finds uncomfortable to play on. Although i think Carlton are on the improve Essendon is my pick for 08 spooners. Melbourne i think comes across better then Essendon and Carlotn and behind Collingwood. We play on the G have A grade facilities on the way and have that x-factor of the being the club supported as a kid. Also very importantly we have a high draft pick and a plethora of potential tradeable good plauyers. We are right in the hunt! how exciting!
  8. With the Kangas move North seemingly only a matter of time, i doubt a player wishing to return to Melbourne would take the risk that he could be living on the Gold Coast within 5 years.
  9. I must admit I find this backslapping communal ego boost a tad unnecessary. Personally I pine for the 'glory days' of Demonland. Where posters such as Deefan, Whispering Jack, Go Johno, Wheels, Spunjy, Demonland, Ash, Kidd Robb, Deebest and of course JC (amoungst others) would constantly deliver tremendous football discussion and analysis. can't help but feel posting has gone the way of political campaigning. The sound bite has taken over from reasoned policy debate.
  10. I would be very surprised if Stefan Martin was not on a list next year. Hopefully with us. As i mentioned elsewhere it is my understanding Stefan was at Sandy this year because Melbourne asked him to be.
  11. thank you scoop! I was amazed to read that post and was thinking how about White!
  12. hahah just got me imagining Simon Godfrey as an AFL coach. Well i am genuinely excited. The decision is made now on with 2008. Wish this game on Sunday was already over. cant wait for the draft and the pre-season. GO DEES!
  13. What frustrates me as i watch Bate is what seems to be his two paced running. He seems to run a lot faster when he has the ball then he does when he is chasing. However his great kick sticky hands and ability to lead are all big positives.
  14. Lets not forget Rhino that Bate and Dunn are almost first years again. Dunn is now being gromed as a Cam Bruce like Midfielder and Bate as a 3rd tall forward. Tough for Bate to hold down CHF in his second year. some of his games in the first half of the year were sensational
  15. I would have ferg to go before miller. Holland at 30 and now a dodgy shoulder is in trouble. Also would surprise if Byron was still around. I would think CJ will still be on the list or at the least traded.
  16. Good post, of the players mentioned i would have thought Bartram was well ahead as the best debut season. Gee we missed him this year and he will play a big role if we are to turn it around next year. So far i would say the class of 06 is the better year but it is impossible not to judge them knowing what their second season was like rather then a direct comparison as debutants. Jones, Bate and Dunn have all taken real steps this season to becoming front line demon players. Hopefully the likes of Petterd Newton and Frawley will do the same next year.
  17. sorry just poor posting by me. wasn't a direct reply to your post, should have cut out your quote.
  18. Both Bizz and Brown are stiff not to be B&F winners. I thought Bizz was our best in 03 and Brown was a single vote behind White in 04 and very unlucky not to be named AA. People quickly forget how Bizzel held our backline together for a couple of seasons. Both have been great servants of the MFC deserving a send off. Ward and Ferguson are another two players who you could never doubt their passion for the red and blue These are four players i have no problem applauding for their service to the club.

    hmmm

Well richmond and carlton win next week and we get the number one pick! Could be very handy to have a certain 200cm prospect.
  20. Gee, when I saw the title of this thread I thought my worlds were colliding. I took a break from my take home exam on Criminal Negligence only to hit Demonland and see a post relating to a Duty of Care! I do agree, all those not 95% fit should be rested. That said we do have to pick 22 ...
  21. Agreed, their is too much confusion surrounding soft and outside players. Green and TJ are both outside players but are anything but 'soft'.
  22. Interesting you mention Stefan Martin, My girlfriends brother is a basketball and ex team mate of stefan martin (and scott pendullbury for that matter). with their father American their household is not particularly AFL interested and when I mentioned I was a Melbourne supporter they told me they had a friend who had gone to the demons just a couple of weeks before. I knew that really couldn't be the case as all the lists had been lodged and so after asking a few questions managed to find out he was in fact asked by Melbourne to join sandy this year. Certainly seems we have our eyes on him, and after his impressive performances this season I would be surprised if we did not at least rookie him if he was still available.
  23. And the big skip himself only has 5 for the year
  24. In fear of my life and reputation for saying this, i wouldn't be totally distraught if Ward came in for an injured Mclean. I really want to go all out for the win and Wardy played very well on QB keeping Davis out of it. If ward wasn't to play the role would probably fall to Bode. A great experience for him but a little worrying at the same time.
