In fear of my life and reputation for saying this, i wouldn't be totally distraught if Ward came in for an injured Mclean. I really want to go all out for the win and Wardy played very well on QB keeping Davis out of it. If ward wasn't to play the role would probably fall to Bode. A great experience for him but a little worrying at the same time.

What a chance for our boys to really dominate the ruck tomorrow night. good chance Jamar may be able to drift forward and stretch the Presti less defence. 15 touches 3 goals 20 hitouts too much to ask..............

I really enjoy watching the Kangas play. Also Brissie over the past month (bar last week) have been playing some great footy. Port Adelaide playing well are also great to watch. For me a close Cats/Kangas granny would be best. I am not too concerned if an inter-stater wins it. i am more in the ABC camp ANYONE BUT COLLINGWOOD. however after last week and tomorrow nights match that is looking safe.

i selectively listen to Duck. I am happy to take his opinions on board when he praising a demon champ!
-
Wayne Carey repeated last night what he has maintanied for years now that David Neitz was every bit as good at CHB as Jakovich.
-
really, what do you think a club would give up for him? I can't see us getting a top 10 pick for him. I think he is a lot more valuable for us then his market price
-
Maybe he is not our most important player. Maybe he is not our most consistent player. But TJ is our BEST player. and i am scared, scared a new coach will offer him up for trade.

Does anybody have figures on which Demons have qualified for the Zebs finals campaign and how far others are off?
-
so that looks like Buckley in for Robbo and maybe one of Miller/Holland to play forward? Can Holland, Miller, Carrol, Frawley and Fergo all fit in the backline?
-
what rights does a club have over the NSW scholarships players?

On Footy Classified last night it was mentioned that Voss maybe forming a ticket with Wayne Brittain (sp?) My biggest fear in getting someone like Voss is the inexperience however with Brittain in a mentoring role this is less of a concern.

Could Nathan Jones win the Best and Fairest this year?
kieranbj replied to dazzledavey36's topic in Melbourne Demons
Will they give him a rising star nomination? -
believe he does have one more year on his contract. But with Mr Pratt as President finding a spare half a mil isn't as hard as it used to be
-
who arksed doug for his opinion anyway
-
i would have thought so.
-
so Ryan Ferguson escapes your cut Rhino. interested to hear why.
-
did Dunn play or was he saved as an emergency for tomorrow's game?
-
thanks a heap for the updates! Go Zebs! a danger game this one.

I have a feeling the footy department may be keen to give Frawley a full game of footy. He has only played one this year and dropped from the dees last week didn't play at all. He would be seriously low on match fitness. For that reason my guess would be Holland, Pickett and Frawley to miss out. Frawley to come straight in after a full game with the Zebs. I am hoping to see Miller play as a genuine Full Forward.

yeah, my apologies my reply should have been to Jaded's post.

What has Wheatley done to deserve to be dropped Played 4 decent games in a row and can actually hit a team-mate. Also still young so not in the Ward/Brown lets make way for youngsters. I beleive he is clearly in our best 22 and will be an important player next year and beyond

i really did not see another get woewodin thread coming.

Well to work my way through your list. Of course all just my opinion Clint BIZZELL: A decent player behind Rivers and treading water in front of Frawley and Garland. A good recruit to the demons who should enjoy his probable stint in the senior side for the rest of the year because he wont be on the list next year. Ben HOLLAND: A tricky one, age is against him. However with the retirement of Nicholson is the only proven gorilla backmen we have. Has shown this year is still capable of playing a role. May be offered another one year deal but could just as easily not Brad MILLER: Definete trade bait, if we don't get much chop for him (which i doubt we will) i would certainly keep him on the list. Decent depth the may suprise and stake claim for either FB or FF. with Neitz near the end we can't just be throwing away key position prospects Daniel WARD: A decent year this year from ward. A favorite of Neale's. Bartram, Wheatley, Whelan, Bell, Buckley, CJ should all be ahead of him next year. like bizzel, enjoy the rest of the season and thanks for the memories (especially that cracker against Brissie in 02. What a game he played!) Nathan BROWN: A have such a soft spot for Doggie. The fact he is not in the team at the moment does not bode well for him. A true leader and a favorite around the club. To be honest i am a bit surprised Ward has been favored over Doggie all season as i still see him as a best 25 player. Will struggle for a spot next season. Simon GODFREY: I would keep him. Played great footy all year. Still young. At worst good depth at best a premier tagger with a spot in our best 18. Byron PICKETT: A great season last year. A player i love to watch when up and running. Unless our new coach believed we were a general chance to push for a flag next year, Byron will retire. What a great carer he has had Ryan FERGUSON: Gone, to be honest i don't know why he was on the list for this year, or even last for that matter. A great trier who was too weak for Full Back and too slow for AFL. Would be great if he stayed at Sandy because he is great to watch at that level Mark JAMAR: Interesting one. PJ has really overtaken him. However he only have 3 ruckmen on the senior list and with one of them over 30 Jamar probably has to be kept for depth. Nathan CARROLL: Silly he is mentioned here. clearly in our best 22. A couple you haven't mentioned Warnock: Will struggle got a chance this year and did not impress Neville- Two years on the list and a Sandy reserves regular, i know very little about him but on this basis he will struggle. Also not sure if contracted but Yze is another to be looked at. of the rookies i would expect Neaves promoted and Bode and Hughes to leave

After going to Sandy on the weekend i would also bring in the kids. The best news is that they actually deserve it. All four of my ins played well for the zebs Assuming Neitz is out i would go with INS: Newton, Buckley, CJ and Dunn Out: Yze (injured) Holland (injured? no match up) Ward (unlucky but time for those that should not be on the list next year to make way, give Petterd what ever role was planned for Ward) and Frawley (has played 1 full game all year, needs to play an entire game, can't be expected to cope at senior level week after week with his disruptive preparation). On Godfrey- I think he should be on the list next year. Has returned to some incredible stopping roles. The hardest most dedicated player on the list and although his disposal is not flash, it is not as bad as some on here make it out to be. I would be tempted to give the Lucas job either to Bruce or even to Dunn.

Well Netwon was fantastic again in the third but the most encouraging for the day was the little talk he received from Mark Williams at 3/4 time. I didn't hear what he said but Newton responded with a nod and went straight to the bench. A really great sign that he will be picked next week. It is a 5 day turnaround and resting the last quarter will really freshen him up. Chris Johnson, Buckley and Dunn all put their case forward. And Garland was impressive also. I think Newton will be in red and blue on Friday, don't know how they could not pick him!
