  1. hmm so what do think brfe? was it enough rest for Newton? do you think they will bring someone in that played a full game? or do think it will be Yze/Brown?
  2. For those that were at Sandy where there any Demons that spent a considerable amount of time on the bench? Playing in the rain yesterday and backing it up on Friday night could be a tough ask. It seems both the injuries to Neitz and TJ were known before Sandy went out and played. Knowing that two changes would have to be made would surely mean two players in line for selection would be eased through this weekend to be ready for friday night. with this in mind it seems logical that perhaps the footy dept is confident of Yze being fit and that Brown was rested from Sandy to play on Friday. good chance these two will be the ones to come in. still we can all hope for Newton.......
  3. I really don't mind which one comes in as long as they come in as a replacement for Netia and do not disturb the tremendous job Bate and Sylvia are currently doing across half forward. Another option may be to go small. Could be Robbo and Yze playing out of the square. would be exciting to fianlly see Newton in the red and blue!
  4. I will be stuck in studying for exams and was wondering if the Zebs game was being called on the radio. Any one have any details?
  5. Ahh yes i remember that day well. I was playing cricket that day and when i came off the field had around 10 txt's with the common theme of WTF nicholson kikced a super goal. good times........ bye the way i spotted Big Al a couple of weeks ago at TBO passionatley supporting the zebs with a very young bub cradled in his arms, Did not get close enough to check the sex but he has played his 100 games in the red and blue!
  6. I agree Miller is the perfect build to play FF. God hands, quick on the lead and playing at FF would solve the issue regarding his a times dreadfull decision making and up and under kicking. Rather then having to handball off or deliver into the forward 50 he would be mainly turning and having a shot on goal. At the moment our post Neitz plan is either for Robbo to do it on his own or for the uncapped Newton to fill the void. Bate/Sylvia/Dunn all look like they could be developed into roaming CHF. Miller should be playing much closer to home.
  7. Yeah that was my idea. I had only the 6 teams with NT with Qld and Nsw with ACT It is true that the NT deserve to be able to field a side on their own. giving the ACT their own side would be a great promotion for the Canberra league. I really think the 1 game promotion relegation system is the way to go. but i do not think it should be played the week after the GF. First of all players from the best two teams in the land would be unavailable. Also i think there are regulations regarding a period of time the players get off (no training or playing) once the season is completed for that club. Some time during the season i think is the most workable or two weeks before rd 1.
  8. and you don't know why nicholson was a favourite of Neale? look at what you wrote about Browny, applies perfectly. Nicholson and Brown both posses something that is really hard to judge from the grandstand. leadership. they are both guys who would always be encouraging not just on game day but during the week. If you look at quotes from younger players at the club both nicholson and Brown would be mentioned as mentors. Both were named in leadership groups, are intelliegent and seem very good blokes that and would bleed for the red and blue. How could any demon fan not admire them?
  9. How about three divisions with promotion/relegation. Div 1. Vic v SA Div 2. WA v Tas Div 3: Qld/NT v Nsw/ACT winner of each game goes up a division and the loser down one for the match the next season Would give 3 games a year over a carnival weekend. Friday night Sat night and Sunday arvo games. Surley the coaches would prefer just the one game a year rather then two.
  10. Is Dunn's future is the forward line? I would think the footy department is trying to mould him into a Cameron Bruce or Chad Cornes type player.
  11. Jaded, I too was initially unhappy to see Dunn out. However we must remember he is just learning how to play on the ball. So far he has only really played up forward. Its a huge ask for him to learn a totally foreign position at the highest level. A couple of full games playing on the wing and in the middle for Sandy could be greatly beneficial. However, if Sandy decided their greatest chance of winning is with Dunn at CHF well ........... Probably Bate and Sylvia to both play across half-forward. If last week (and sandy the week before) is anything to go by Robbo will be sticking very close to home. On Wheatley- I am a fan, was great in his come back game for Sandy. When fully fit he is a better future option to join Frawley, Wheels, Bell as mid sized defenders then Biz, Brown and Ward are.
  12. and lets not forget big Nick Smith at CHB well done on selection Nick. Also Woewodin will probably rack up 35 touches in the middle. And is that ex-rookie listed demon David Robbins playing as well. A lot to watch for Dee and Zebra fans! Go Vics!
  13. West? yet another to have his colours lowerd by Godfrey. I think it may have been cross.
  14. With sylvia taken before brock. The loss against the Dogs may well have meant we would be with out our future captain and premier midfielder. my mate and I (quiet unfairly) joke that Cam Hunter should be given life membership to the Dees for the part he played in delivering Brook to the club by being selected for the game against the Dogs despite being so incredibly raw.
  15. Although it is probably a sign of inabilty to create a sturdy defence. Nicholson would be closer to our best side of the past 15 years then our worst. Vardy, Charles and Holland also unfairly named here
  16. Intersesting on Footy Classified tonight Godfrey received 7 of the coaches award votes. That meant one of the coaches thought he was second best on ground and one thought he was third. That is out of all 44 players. Don't mean to pick on you DR4E but you couldn't fit him into your top 11 Melbourne players!
  17. Geez about half the side have been mentioned in the above two posts yet the name Simon Godfrey is nowhere to be seen. His last two matches have been tremendously underrated by those on Demonland. Last week he stitched up Goodes and this week absolutely destroyed Shaun Burgoyne, one of the AFL's elite match winning midfielders. I acknowledge that at full strength Godders may miss out on a spot with Batram taking his role but credit where credit is due. Godfrey I believe has been in our best 3 for the last two matches and probably our best 5 for the season.
  18. Give it a re-read Nasher Believer the poster may be suggesting that not drafting Anderson because of his footskills is somewhat hypocritical with Danny Ward and Simon Godfrey running round in the red and blue. Just a little smartarse comment that got a giggle out of me.
  19. Although i really want the zebs to win. i hope it is done with Newton and Garland playing as tall forwards and not Ferg. Good to see Wardy named.
  20. I enjoyed your posts last year, you obviously do a lot more research then most. glad to see you are giving it another crack. Out of curriosity have any melbourne players polled, also how about Hamish Macintosh?
  21. I wasn't at the game, but i had Godfrey as bog. Dominated Goodes before and after his so called shoulder injury (was so bad, he didn’t leave the field). It is a pity because the commentators kept on talking about the injury taking away from Godders game which was excellent.
  22. Going in 2002 something had to be done. Ingerson had retired in the middle of 2001. Nicholson was starting to play well at FB but we needed something else. A decision had been made that Neitz would play forward. Simmonds had been tried at CHB late 2001 with no success. The decisions to look for a ready made CHB was sound. Bizzel and Ellis the results. Ellis looked good pre-knee and luckily Chris Lamb came from nowhere to play very well in the second half of 2002 to take over from the tremendous early 2002 form of Nicholson. Aaron Rogers is one of my bigger misreadings . I really liked him, thought he was the heir to Neita. He led superably and kicked well. Great height and very quick. He struggled in the blustery narrow TBO were the skills kicking to the lead we never strong but I thought that with AFL players drilling it down his throat he would be dangerous. Seems I was wrong and so was Roos because he did little up in Sydney and is now playing well in the SANFL I think.
  23. We also picked up a second rounder for Simmonds. Pick 26 I think. A starting CHB (when boy was it needed, Ingerson just retired and Nicholson was raw) and second rounder for a ruckmen that was in dreadful form whilst Jeff White was about to reach his peak. Also Jolly was on the rookie list showing good signs. The thought process behind trading Simmo was sound and what received as part of the trade was adequate. It was just unfortunate that Ellis got injured and Aaron Rogers didn't end up making it. Jolly on the other hand wanted a number 1 ruck spot. Not much we could do there and we received a first rounder there! Lynden Dunn would not be playing full-forward this week were it not for the Jolly trade. So I feel both the Simmonds and Jolly trades were sound moves at the time by the MFC. However I do agree that our current ruck stocks are worrying. White is still a very good ruckman but is desperately in need of quality support which he is not receiving at the moment by Jamar.
  24. are there Demonlanders heading out to TBO this sunday? Depending on the celebrations from the Dees and Aussie wins Sat night i am hoping to go see the zebs for the first time this season.
