  1. Embarrassing to hear at the start of the game. Team X's leading goalscorer on 54, followed by Joe Blow on 42 and Steve on 33 For the Dees - their 10 week injured ruck man-turned forward leads with 28, followed by their midfield cumulatively on 16.
  2. We've had the privilege of watching greatness twice thus far on the track. Phelps and Bolt - amazing achievements.
  3. I can't see how we won't be forced to take him in the first round. Would love to get him in the second obviously - will wait and see.

    Round 23

I watched that from Koh Samui. For some reason, I stupidly thought we wouldn't be too bad - we'd played poorly and led by two goals... How wrong I was.
  5. I think that this post kind of contradicts itself, Pates.

    Round 23

The AFL has just released its fixture for Round 23 - view here. Hawks Eagles Friday night at the G could be massive. Essendon Collingwood Saturday night likewise - their first Saturday night game since 2002. We've got the Saturday night slot against the Dockers to end a miserable, miserable season - fittingly, in most likely a miserable, miserable fashion.
  7. You can't leave an AFL-related activity because of controversy! That's what the AFL thrives on. I agree that I think we have worked through the kinks etc. Blocked trades, for one, would be an issue in any league and I think is all part of the fun - the discussion, the defence, the re-jigged offer.
  8. The next step is to have teammates that you implicitly trust to shepherd, tackle and spread hard.
  9. 39th after running only 15 seconds slower than her qualifying (her only other) marathon. Fantastic effort - especially on a wet track. Well done, Jess.
  10. 71th? Later - "Trengove is in 61" Why is Eddie incapable of properly using ordinal numbers?
  11. IMO it was our poor culture that lead us to the position of needing to tank - not tanking leading to a poor culture.
  12. Cowboy, that Burger would've been feral anyway - it hasn't been good for 60 years.
  13. If you talk tanking - Freo round 21 2010 cannot be forgotten. Out: Matthew Pavlich (soreness), Adam McPhee (soreness), Roger Hayden (soreness), David Mundy (soreness), Stephen Hill (soreness), Anthony Morabito (soreness), Nathan Fyfe (soreness) Sandilands was also left out. All came in the next week as Freo topped Carlton to guarantee a home final. Freo lose by 116 points and, two weeks later, beat the same team in an elimination final.
  14. I'm more worried about our developing of players than our drafting.
  15. Not that I think we will get done, but if we do they'd have to have a serious look at Fremantle 2010!
  16. It's a good point that players need to be protected. As much as sniping etc lead to "hard" football in the older days, I don't think footy's ever been tougher than the modern game. Players are expected to go in so hard at every contest and they're getting continually hit by bigger bodies than ever before.
  17. No, I'm saying that now I watch games and find myself looking for free kicks most of the time because of how over-umpired games are. It takes away from the enjoyment of the spectacle.
  18. That probably has something to do with the wiring in your brain... I wasn't even talking about the '89 Grand Final. That was pretty clear I'd have thought.
  19. Kim Crow is like the outrageously unrealistic awesome girl that is created for cheesy chic-flic comedies alone. Unreal.
  20. I definitely agree with the sentiment, but I find my response has now become the opposite. I watch games, not usually enjoying the general play but mores assessing each contest and usually finding myself saying "that's a free...that's usually a free...that should be a free." Very frustrating.
