and zero imagination from the coach. Put him in the ruck, drop gawn up forward. anything.

POSTGAME: Rd 15 vs Sydney
how is it bull $%^& when you don't disagree with what I wrote ? we won contested ball. simple as that. go watch the third quarter. skills, skills and skills killed us tonight. I'm getting sick after every loss putting it down to effort. its not always that.We had chances moving forward and positioned well and we just kicked horrendously, even for us.

The Need for Outside Midfielders
Agree with a lot of this. I was flabbergasted when we drafted Sparrow after throwing everything at inside mids. How many can you possibly have ? And hearing Jordan is developing as an inside mid. Just sounds like insanity to me. Where do they think we were going to play them? Its like the coaching and recruiting staff can’t see what everyone else can plainly see. Langdon is now our most important transition player. And he needs more fast mates. It’s like we don’t value pace or kicking skills at all. kozzie defies that trend last year at the draft and perhaps they have woken up. But 5 years too late.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - TOM SPARROW
his progress looks good. I agree on the Todd Viney analogy, but it seems almost bamboozling we recruited an inside mid type after we got all the others in. If he comes good, and I think he might, where do we play him ? same may go for Jordan who Egan says is ready to step up now like Sparrow.

Jason Taylor
I loved Roos but he stuffed that up. he had a known quantity in Tyson who was never going to be an A grader as he was simpley too slow and not agile either. and an average kick. It gave us a short term solution but as an experienced premiership coach I expect him to covet those early picks and bring in experience elsewhere. and maybe sacrifice a game or two.

CHANGES: Rd 12 vs Collingwood
if you analyse his kicking its a low trajectory and his depth perception along with his action is poor for field kicking. kicking into the man on the mark is a specialty for him. but weirdly he kicks dead straight. In cricket parlance he's got the line right but his length is poor.

CHANGES: Rd 12 vs Collingwood
might be time for Jackson to be rotated out and that works out balance wise. don't run Jackson into the ground with these short breaks.
-
Play Jack Viney forward
I would have Viney forward and rotating with Oliver, so we always have one of them in the guts. Increase Brayshaws minutes in the middle, potentially Petraccas as well and Harmes more midfield minutes and get him back to run with roles. A forward line with Viney/Oliver, Kossie, Bennell, Melksham, Fritsch, Hannan to add to the talls should do some serious damage. This team should be doing more but Goodwin has to change things up a bit.

The Way Gawn is Umpired
disagree. The AFL responds to whatever has 'optics' as they say, we see it time and again. and I assume the approach was done a while ago with no result so why not bring it out.

POSTGAME: Rd 11 vs North Melbourne
People are right to put things into perspective. the true test is yet to come but let me say this. I want to put things into another perspective. for so many years I've seen us capitulate to North and experience gut wrenching losses, sometimes when I thought we were definitely the best team but alas not on the scoreboard. We've had time when we had players down, critical umpiring decisions against us etc culminating in heart breaking losses.Time and time again. Yes North were men down tonight for the last quarter but we've had our fair share of bad luck against this side in close games culminating in a ridiculous run of losses. Tonight it went our way injury wise and we beat them emphatically. We deserve to celebrate the win. God knows we absolutely deserve it.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - SAM WEIDEMAN
so easy to say in hindsight. out of form and not getting near it in the practice games, but you are definite he should have played?. that could also been disastrous until he showed he was ready.

Lloyd: Trade Oliver or Brayshaw
tonight showed how overstocked we are with midfielders. which was a positive with Brayshaw 29 possies and a goal more than stepping up. I think Goodwin needs to change things up and give him more time, let Viney and Oliver go forward as we do have very good back up. I like the look of Sparrow now but have to say even the day he was recruited, why ? if he comes good he is yet another tough contested midfielder.

TEAMS: Rd 08 vs Brisbane
Go watch the replay. AVB was our best at pressuring hawthorn. Absolute key to stopping their keeping a off game. No way was he getting dropped.

POSTGAME: Rd 07 vs Hawthorn
This was the big thing for me. Great first half then hawks adjust a few things, come out cracking in the third quarter and kick the first two. And you think here we go again. Normally we lose confidence but we did not panic, didn't lose our shape and ended up winning the quarter. You could see it took the wind out of Hawthorns sails and we had it back on our terms. it was game over.

yes Jackson was impressive today., read the fall of the ball very well, was quite good without the ball pressuring the opposition and did quite a few night things with the ball. for a second game it was impressive and looks like the King boys with ability to cluck marks and athleticism.

CHANGES: Rd 07 vs Hawthorn
agreed. I think if Brown can can take a few marks and kick a goal or two he will have fulfilled TMac's role. then both he and Weid will be on show to get the one spot when TMac comes back in. against the Weagles he read the ball well and got to good spots but was butter fingers dropping marks. funnily enough if Brown plays we'd have two of the best talls kicks going around up forward. getting it to them is the hard part.

Joe Daniher
clubs will be extremely wary. I think his only chance to get fit is with the demons on a Bennell type deal costing nothing, then he starts playing again and wins the coleman.

POSTGAME: Rd 06 vs Gold Coast
yes and it stands out. we haven't recrutied for 'class' but now I think the penny has dropped. the last two kicks of the match but be snippet of whats tocome who knows.. Let hope he even just continues as is, as he is smooth as silk with beautiful skills. As they said on the replay at one stage on the gold coast he was also racking up the numbers averaging 25 possessions and a goal per game. which is elite. not hard to believe considering he gets a fair bit of it in a new team after 4 years of injury.
