Sylvia is only playing because we have no one else to play, once we get some guys back from injuries and the younger guys develop he'll struggle to get a game. Oh, and to the calls about trading him, which club would give up a valuable draft pick for Sylvia? Not even Freo are dumb enough any more to do something that stupid. He'll play for Casey untill his current contract runs out and then that will be it.

Of our current crop I'm hoping that Watts, Blease, Maric and Jurrah will add a touch of class about the team. A couple of plays that Blease di in the u/18's were simply breath taking, I have high hopes for this kid.

I'd say that the first pick is the best player in the opinion of the recruiting team tho had the first pick, or to be even more accurate, the kid with the greatest amount of potential. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder

I don't want to shoot you down, however, with the first two picks you should always go with who you think is the best kid available, not to fill a hole. The reason for this is that the best ruckman might not be even in the top 10. It's also pretty rare that good rucks are taken so early.

You're allowed your opinion, good for you. The facts are that the team that has graced the MCG over the last half dozen years has not come even close to winning a premiership, we need to continue to turn the list over and adding two top three picks from a strong draft will help our plight. This year is a free hit, everyone expects us to finish bottom, everyone expects us to get a PP. We won't lose any more ground if we have another poor year (or good in terms of player development, which is how I see it). We have a great opportunity to build for the future and I don't want to see the club follow the steps of Richmond. Regardless, even if we tried all season and played with our strongest team I don't think we could win more than 4 games, we have too many holes in our list.

16 to go Sure it's going to hurt now, but 5 years in the future when Watts and Bailey are holding the premiership cup we'll look back and think it was the best thing that ever happened.

Butcher kicked 5.1 from his 6 kicks, not bad hey? He had a late start because of injuries as well, really interested to see how he goes in the u18's. Add Scully and Lucas, apparently they're the 3 leaders right now.

As already mentioned Jurrah didn't nominate for the November draft, but don't let facts get in the way of your opinion.

I know alot of you guys think that bigfooty is rubbish, and generally it is, but the draft & trading board has some excellent posters who contribute. Some of these guys watch alot of underage footy, they know what they're talking about, some even do work for various clubs. They're the two main ones but there's always a bolter ala Watts. Best to wait until the u18's to start this discussion, but I agree with you that we will most likely have the first 2 picks (unless WC qualify as well)

We don't know yet...but worst case scenario is that it will have no affect on our finances at all. Best case would be that we would no longer be treated like the other victorian clubs when playing home games at the 'G, as we will be once again part of the MCC then we will receive a much greater portion of the match day revenue. My guess will be somewhere inbetween.

This is terrible organisation by the club!! This should have beed done 6 months ago!!! sorry, that's my fun for the morning, back to reality... This is great news, being part of the MCC again will give us a significant advantage over the other clubs with regards to match day revenue, now we just have to get our crowds up.

He's probably the best kick in the team right now, which explains why he gets a hard tag every game. We need a couple of others to stand up to take the heat off him, would love to see Grimes, Blease & Strauss breaking the lines.
