  1. Yeah, it was definitely one of those 'it seemed like a good idea at the time' situations
  2. He has admitted that he was quite emotional about it though...let's rehash back to his quotes... "I was incandescent with rage." Quite clearly he states what frame of mind he was in. "He heard me out. I said here are the facts and you ought to be ashamed of yourself." Quite clearly Stynes stopped and listened to him and quite clearly Coglin made it a personal matter with his last comment. "And I turned around and walked away, without making a scene or being a drama queen about it." Quite clearly he stated that he didn't wait for a response, he walked away. Remember these are Coglin's own words, no one else's. With Coglin being incandescent with rage would he have even heard anything that Stynes may have said? Clearly he was only interested in talking to Stynes and giving him a piece of his mind. One more thing - Did Coglin try and talk to him about it again before going to the media? If yes then shame on Stynes, if no then shame on him.
  3. You couldn't be more wrong, the only thing that concerns me is the health of the Melbourne Football, and it's image is directly related to that. Only petty individuals tries to debate issues through the media.
  4. Nasher, this club almost died due to the inhouse fighting and different factions trying to stab each other in the back. I have absolutely no issue with anyone questioning Stynes or the current board. I do have a problem, however, with someone using the media against the club, regardless of what his intentions were, that's been the result. I don't believe that Stynes would refuse to hear Coglin's opinion, everything that I've had to do with him and heard about him reinforces this view. It would appear to be completely out of character. As I've said earlier there are two clear and distinct issues, Coglin has every right to pursue the first but he did the wrong thing with the second.
  5. The vast majority of the club didn't believe that the club needed to be saved, only someone's fragile ego
  6. This last paragraph reflects poorly on you and your argument. There are two issues, the first is Coglin's irrational belief that he has be wronged, and the second was his actions by taking it to the media. I'm now amazed that this club survived past the previous board, using this issue as an example of how they operate is scary. I blame myself though, I was one of the idiots who voted them in. <_<
  7. This thread is a 'tongue in cheek' response to the results over the weekend and more specifically the general feeling around this place after a loss. In no way did I suggest that I'm dissapointed with JW's performance. I'm bemused that I've had to exlain this point.
  8. Coming from the point of view from rank a file member it appears that Coglin went to the media for completely selfish purposes, not to help the club, and I'm sure that you are well aware that perception is far more important than intent.
  9. I take it you voted for 'Melbourne losing'
  10. Hazy, i don't have an issue with someone challenging Stynes or the club. It's healthy and can only improve the way we operate, but why take it to the press? How could that possibly help the club?
  11. After a weekend of footy which do you find more depressing? At first glance it seems like a straightforward query, however taking pp's into consideration and the fact that JW is the messiah it's actually a tough one.
  12. Thanks for that Bob, that's some interesting observations. One of his negatives before being drafted was his work rate, but I suppose even superman had his kryptonite
  13. It's sad that the previous board felt the need to take this to the media, clearly their only interest is point scoring and grandstanding, and for what result? In this current climate with this issue so hot the only thing they could possibly achieve is damage to the Melbourne brand. Not only did they almost completely screw the club when they were in power they're now hell bent on achieving the same. Do everyone a favour and support the club, if you have an issue with someone at the club talk to them about it, don't go to the media. Bunch of self serving, primma donnas. For a long time I was a big supporter of the previous board, I stood up for them during many heated debates here on demonland but no more, this latest stunt is pathetic.
  14. H is right, and the wall of text proves it. Go and fight your battle somewhere else, no one here cares, the only thing we're interested in is the future.
  15. I just don't understand how Miller can be low on confidence considering who he goes home to....
  16. Wasn't the trial game between Vic Metro and Country on today?
  17. More game time into our kids.
  18. This is a great idea, the more traffic the site gets the higher the value to the club. I've set it as my home page so everytime I open a browser the site gets a hit
  19. Scott Clayton is no dill, of course he's going to go after great young talent and Morton would be right up there. We need to get on the front foot and negotiate with them (GC17) and our players and their managers to ensure that if we do lose a player then it's on our terms. That way we can inflate his value by playing him more etc
  20. I knew he was highly regarded but I didn't realise that the gulf was that big, this just reinforces my belief that we cannot afford to win more than 4 games this season.
  21. At the risk of taking this thread off topic the two best kids this year may well be midfielders, Morabito and Lucas are over in the West look very good. Next time you talk to him ask about these two please.
  22. Collingwood are completely irrelevant, apart from rent a crowds, everything else about them are meaningless.
  23. Wheels is doing his job by showing leadership and setting the right example to the kids, he may not play too many more games for us but he's still very valuable to the club
  24. This season winning is irrelevant, however I admit when the game is on I barrack as much as anyone. What is important is the development of our kids.
  25. We need to negotiate with GC17 & the players to ensure that they get the player that we're happy to let go, that way we can give that player more game time to increase his value. Petterd would be ideal imo, I think we could eventually cover him and his perceived value is quite high, we would get a very good draft pick in return.
