  1. Melbourne...bottom 8...stop the press!!
  2. correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't his original problem that saw him miss alot of footy s stress fracture to his lower back? I really hope it isn't a related injury but I can't see how it couldn't be...
  3. 4-6 weeks, oh no!!
  4. I've been quietly very excited about Liam Jurrah since he was drafted and hearing about his story, the more I hear the more exciting his potential is. When I finally see him play I think i'll drop the quiet bit, the kids sounds like not only an amazing player, but a person who could become a great ambassader for the club as well, similiar to Michael Long.
  5. Whatever helps you sleep at night kid. Clearly you're up for an argument, let's not bother tip toeing around meaningless discussions, I'll assist in the matter... I think you're a mindless [censored] who only sees what they want to see in a post to start a non-existant argument. The ball is now in your court, enjoy the next 5 minutes of your life getting uptight and red faced over the verbal diarrhoea that you're about to reply with
  6. The doggies deal with Mission is not great compared to the initial deal that we were discussing with them. Surely this concept isn't too difficult to understand, even for you. It's a simple matter of the dollar amounts invovled. /sigh
  7. No, you misunderstood my query. Why would I be dissapointed with having a sponsor in a very unstable environment? Sure it's not the best deal in the market but the 'not great' comment was in context with the deal that we were initially discussing with them. I get the feeling that you're trying to create an agrument out of something that doesn't exist, have fun with that, cheers
  8. Disappointed...why? I understand that there's about half a dozen clubs whose major sponsor is due to end at the end of this season, everything suggests that the economy is going to further worsen over the next two quarters so we may have be looking more healthier in comparison. Sometimes everything needs to be taken in context.
  9. I'm really looking forward to seeing how Blease develops, the kid can win his own ball but also has great pace and is a good kick. Soem of his moves in the u/18's were simply awesome
  10. Everyone here knows (but probably doesn't understand) my views on CAC but I still think that Meesen was worth a shot. Ok it hasn't worked out the way we'd like but at the time we were desperate for rucks and here was a kid who had shown previous ok form and wanted to come back to Vic. It was a gamble that didn't work out, but at least they tried something and didn't pay too much for it. Even for the best recruiters Not every decision will work ok, it's just trying to limit the damage of the bad ones.
  11. The dogs deal wasn't great. I heard somewhere that the proposed Mission Foods deal with Melbourne was for $8m over 4 years.
  12. The kid can mark
  13. The only have two potential key forwards on our list: Watts and Morton. I'm more confiednt about Watts because Morton might just become a winger. (Heard an interview with him the other day and he is now 193cm, that would make a bloody good winger who can run all day!) Miller and Bate will kick the occasional bag of 4 or 5 but they'll never be consistent goal kickers. Robo was a very good mid forward, hopefully Jurrah will be at least as good. We have a heap of small forward types: Davey, Wona, Maric, Jetta. It would be nice if one reached the top level and Davey doesn't really play in that position any more. I'd like to see a midfield capable of kicking multiple goals, ie McLean, Blease, Sylvia. It would take alot of pressure of the forwards. I just don't rate Dunn or Newton as serious prospects, would love for either of them to prove me wrong though
  14. It's probably fair to say that he's around the ground work had improved a fair amount since last season, if he can continue in that vein then there's no reason why he can't be in the top half dozen rucks within 3 or 4 years.
  15. The only reason why Miller is still playing is because we literally don't have anyone else capable of playing CHF, once one of the lids mature he'll struggle to get a game. I'm expecting one of watts, Morton or Garland to take over his role.
  16. GC17's draft concessions won't come into affect until next season, meaning that we timed our crapness quite well. If we do qualify for a pp pick we'll receive the 1st pick (assuming WC get more than 16 points!)
  17. Delarue Tyres i'm pretty sure were a past (perhaps still) player sponsor, nice plug
  18. His willingness to negotiate contracts with the clubs through the media, he comes across as a weasel.
  19. This thread is all about what the team has to achieve this season to make you satisfied with the result, it's not about what would make you happy. For example I'd be happy if we made the grand final and won the premiership but it's just not going to happen, so from your point of view what does the club have to do to get a pass mark in your eyes? For me I'd be satisfied with an early win, then another mid year and two more late in the season. No big 60+ losses would be nice, improvement from the kids ie Morton, Grimes, Wona, Petterd, Garland, Spencer, Maric etc and consistent performances throughout the season. Clearly kicking goals is going to be an issue, but if we can get some good game time into the kids and finish the season with a pp then I'd be satisfied. That would give us a great basis to really improve over the next half a decade.
  20. Sure, that's probably reasonably close to the truth however the agreement that Jimmy & co have been negotiating with the MCC will easily eclipse anything the doggies will be able to do at the Docklands. Sponsorship dollars are important but the real income comes from the AFL and matchday income.
  21. Bloody idiot
  22. The only reason it's an issue is because the headlines will say "Leadership group suspends Sylvia." The reasons for the suspension are irrelevant, regardless of how trivial they are. The media will just dumb the story down to here Sylvia goes again. Very disappointing
  23. We've known for 3 or 4 years that we've got problems with the big guys, specifically key forwards and rucks, you can't blame Bailey and co for our current situation. The problem lies with our recruiting and list management from around 5+ years ago.
  24. Just checked, he missed the first half of 2007 with a knee injury, seems he didn't miss as much as I first thought.
  25. Although all indications point towards Meesen not having his contract renewed we have to remember that prior to last year he hadn't played for two full seasons due to injuries. Being a big guy it was always going to take him at least a year to find any sort of form. Sure he'll probably get delisted by I still think he was worth a shot considering our ruck stocks at the time we traded for him.
