Jack Watts - More Discussion (for those who haven't had enough)
Jarka replied to dees189227's topic in Melbourne Demons
Not sure about that, perhaps a bit niave that he thought people would continue to treat him like a princess and he cracked it when it didn't happen. I'll reserve my judgement until I hear him being interviewing by someone intelligent, although even before tonight I thought he was going to decide to leave. But honestly, with Hogan joining our list I don't give a [censored], if he wants to get then trade for a midfielder. -

I think he was more [censored] off with Newman's style of questioning than him not commiting to the MFC -

Good overview, probably don't need to watch it now -
You know you're going badly when there's a fair bit of optimism about getting a new coach and president prior to knowing who they'll actually be. Add me into the 'optimistic' group
-
Nah, we had one season in the 70's where we just won one game, which was against the bullies and only because Flower took a mark and kicked a late goal. I was really young at the time, so others will probably correct me in some way.
-
Yep, absolutely agree, in fact the whole list is crap so let's delist every single one of them and start again. The AFL are going to love this

Decent job application, i reckon he's at the front of the queue right now

My dad worked at Kodak. He was involved in doing studies and experiments with diffraction gratings, the work would eventually lead to the development and production of the Compact Disc. Dad wasn't the man behind it all, there was this genius who he worked with who single handedly designed and built the machinery that pretty much produced the first compact disc (I have what I believe to be the first example in the world of the compact disc in my possession). They wanted support from Kodak to further develop the project but Kodak, in conjunction with the government at the time, basically sold the technology to the Yanks for peanuts. It was a devastating decision from Kodak, to just sell off brilliant intellectual property like that. The guy took it pretty bad, he told Kodak that no one could have his machine and he would take a sledge hammer to it immediately. A heap of other stuff went down but I won't go into detail, let's just say I've seen plenty of 'evidence' first hand. Back in the day Kodak had world leaders in this technology working for them, Australia was a pioneer in that industry and Kodak somehow managed to [censored] it all up. What's even sadder is the above story only scratches the surface of the absolute tragedies that took place there due to mismanagement and incompetance.

Peter Jackson - On The Couch Monday 29th July, 2013

A point of interest about OTC, Paul Roos had virtually no input into the discussion. It was the other two has asked the majority of questions. -

No, you're looking at it the wrong way, it's a great opportunity for someone to become elevated to legendary status if they turn us around. We're a great challenge and now that the AFL are assisting the incoming coach won't be hamstrung by our past. What had to clear out the old guard for us to go forward. The fact that PJ is still in discussions with Roos is interesting, I'm pretty sure that wouldn't be the case if he really wasn't interested. I do agree with you about Choco though, he would be great for our club. Our next coach won't win us a premiership, he'll be responsible for changing the culture of the place and setting us up for a realistic attempt at regular finals appearances -
I [censored] hate the Darwin game, every [censored] year this happens
-
I don't get it, why do we need this?
-
They have to look at all options, but geez, it would be hard to follow the club with that bloke in charge
-
That is bloody good news, he's one guy who could have got a big contract somewhere else. He also obviously backs himself to improve again in those two years to get an even bigger contract. Woohoo!
-
"Oh no, it's a poltigoose"
-
I don't understand why we would talk about trading a bloke who has only just now started to put it all together, especially when we're desperate for goal kickers. IF, and it's a bloody big IF, IF we're considering trading a big key forward like Fitzy then it would have to be a bloody good deal.

Stockdale is definitely not my first choice, but do we have anyone else who is better? Honest question because I don't know about the other guys putting their names forward.
-
So he's hiring his boss. I understand the circumstances, just pointing out that Stockdale has a point. I don't want Stockdale at all, but not for this reason. It would be nice for something to happen smoothly with our club though
-
I'm not sold on Stockdale at all, however after reading the article I get a different perspective on the situation. I don't think what he's saying is bad at all, he has a really good point. PJ is answerable to a board and it is interesting that he's trying to choose who that board will be, effectively he's hiring his boss. Corporate Governance? The circumstances are complicated because of the AFL basically running the club so the reality is that we don't have a choice but Stockdale is right. But again, I'm not sold on Stockdale, I agree with others that I'd prefer someone with a younger and more vibrant 'brand' (god I hate that term)

Where did this 'soft' tag come from? I've seen him put his body on the live several times, don't understand the fascination from people who want 1st year kids to end up with career threatening injuries because they recklessly throw their under matired bodies around
-
Godfrey used to shut Goodes down to the point that Goodes went the knuckle several times
-
That's hilarious
-
The more that Roos delays his decision the more he can get out of the AFL, and let's face it the AFL are the ones who are offering him the role. They want the MFC to be successfully and they want Roos to be coach, he can just sit back and negotiate more out of them before signing
-
I can confirm this by another source who was spot of with a couple of other things, start of the season is what I'm hearing.
