What has swimmers got to do with Beach Volleyball?
-
You're joking...right?
-
Do the men wear just budgie smugglers in the beach volleyball? No, the vast majority of them wear shorts and tank tops. Where is the equality in that? Just like the basketball a couple of years back, the women had to wear body hugging lycra that left nothing to the imagination whilst the men could wear their normal uniforms. The inconsistencies that we have is incredibly and it's laughable that suddenly there's a section of our cummunity getting uptight over this.

My personal opinion is that reality shows like the Batchelor do far more damage to a sexist society than any of the sports we've discussed so far
-
In what way is it demeaning?
-
A bikini? At the Olympics? There's a difference between beach appropriate gear and a uniform for the elite level of an Olympic sport. Regardless, I'm not bothered either way, I have no interest in the lingerie league, I'm just pointing out our inconsistencies and how we pick and choose what we're outraged about.

They wear less clothing in the beach volleyball

Contested possession statistics can be very misleading, a player picking the ball up off the ground with an opposition player within a couple of meters counts as one. That can be argued as not being contested, I always take that stat with a grain of salt. I think clearances and 1%'s are more important, but that's just me and I wouldn't try to force my opinions down other peoples throats. At u/18 level Toumpas was restricted with hip issues and he missed a big chunk of his first pre-season due to the surgery, this isn't an excuse it's a fact.

Mine was at Olympic Park, but I hear what you're saying, there can be up to half a second difference with hand helds.

Back in my youth (/sigh) my best for the 100m was 11.1, breaking the 11 sec barrier is bloody tough. To do it with minimal weight training is actually very bloody impressive, with an elite training schedule this kid could be anything

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - CHRISTIAN SALEM
Jarka replied to Freddy Fuschia's topic in Melbourne Demons
Thanks! -
So, they're using low picks on kids in the hope of getting low picks in the future but what they really need now is more mature bodies. Yeah, makes sense, in a round about [censored] reality kind of way.

Thanks for that, how good is his disposal under pressure? Can he get boot to ball quickly? -
The three little kittens, they lost their mittens....

Not sure where you're getting your info from, I'll use Tyson as an example “At the moment, it looks like it’ll be around Christmas time or post-Christmas, when I’m fully in the main group,” he told melbournefc.com.au. “I might do a few sessions and a few drills here and there, but I don’t think [i’ll be in] the full main session until after Christmas.” http://www.melbournefc.com.au/news/2013-11-15/tyson-on-track-after-early-setback

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - BILLY STRETCH
Jarka replied to e25's topic in Melbourne Demons
Since then young Billy has performed well at both u18 level and reserves footy in the SANFL, significant enough to be highly rated by many. He's going to be ok -
WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - BILLY STRETCH

We're in a pretty good spot for next year, it's a pretty good year for key forwards and with stretch most likely going a 2nd rounder we'll probably be able to pick up another quality midfielder with our first round. That is of course unless we win the premiership, which case we'll have to use our first pick on him. -
If it is to be it is up to me. Or something like that

Thanks pdees, post more often!!

Five genuine mids to consist of our major rotations - Jones, Tyson, Viney, Michie & McKenzie (tagger) with Watts, Vince, toumpas & M.Jones to help with the run and carry (thanks Clint). Gawn to take over as no.1 ruck eventually with Clark as the pinch hitter. Grimes back to defence with Cross and Terlich the other smalls. I'm probably not as worried about Pederson as others, he has a bit of ability and is a cheap back up option to cover injuries. Small forward is an issue though, we really need either Kent or perhaps Blease to own that role. But no more gifting games to young players, there has to be genuine competition for spots which could drastically change the team, players need to be rewarded for strong performances

I hear there's a draft coming up

Midfielders taken in drafts around pick 9 - Analysis

The biggest issue with recruiting a kid is working out how much they want to be successful, of course actually finding that out is not easy. -
Emma Quayle Moving Article On Nathan Jones

You know Clint, i wanted to 'like' your post but i just couldn't bring myself to 'like' someone who is depressed. A 'I feel your pain' click would be more appropriate. It's bewildering that the club was allowed to self implode so badly, makes you wonder just how many players we would have lost if Neeld had of stayed and no changed made. -
Great OP, just enough in it to appear plausible that someone could actually think it was a good idea, this is how you turn trolling into an artform
