  1. And there are idiots on this site that actually believe we have good salary cap & list management. If you want an example of outstanding salary cap (TPP) management, take a look at Richmond. We’d be lucky to have 2 A Graders whereas Tigers would have about 10.
  2. Fact still remains that Howe butchered the ball several times a game at Dees, however, butchers it twice a season at the Pies. Is it far superior coaching & development at the Pies? I’m sure it is.
  3. You really have no idea. You can’t deny there were plenty of Demonland Posters wanting Howe out of the Club. My point was that Collingwood & Howe has made them look absolutely stupid. I would back Clarko to do something similar with Frost.
  4. Or, just like Collingwood has with Jeremy Howe, his next Club will improve his weakness and play to his strength. Jeremy Howe was an absolute liability with ball in hand at the Dees, so much so that so many on this site wanted him gone. Well, where are those geniuses now given he has been an absolute star at the Pies. One of the first picked in a constant top of the ladder team. Pies immediately improved his kicking & decision making and he’s been a bona fide A Grader for them. Watch Hawks do exactly the same with Frost.
  5. Well, I do know for an absolute fact that we did not submit any offers for Dustin, Kelly, DeGoey & Coniglio. The only player from all that list that we spoke to his manager about was Kelly. As I reported a year or so back, All Clubs were told that Kelly was only interested in considering 3 clubs. GWS, Carlton & Kangas. He re-signed with GWS.
  6. They might, however, on balance they have already a better one in Tarrant. Great player, great bloke, great clubman. Plays every week, no fuss. My point is that I used the Kangas to demonstrate a club that has really managed their TPP far better than what I believe the Dees have. They’ve owned us for 10 years but have had a real crack at the superstars of our game and came within a bees [censored] of landing Dustin Martin.
  7. Rubbish. Kangas shot for the stars and they missed going for the absolute best in the industry. My point was, despite massively outperforming MFC for the last 10 years, they had the Salary Cap to have a real crack at Kelly, De Goey & Martin. MFC couldn’t. FCS, don’t crow about recruiting a 3rd tall defender that had knee reconstruction history on enormous money and over paid with draft picks. Plus a fat, unfit May who we once again were the ONLY club in the picture because we had the very low Pick 6 and we were willing to pay him Hogan’s money which was far more than anyone else was willing to do. Bottom line Kangas have recruited Higgins, Polec, Pittard over recent years, all players with pace and dash that walk into the Dees.
  8. Great post Jim. We are one of the worst 2/3 performing Clubs over the last 5 years. We’ve also traded one of our very best players recently. I can’t believe we haven’t been right up to our necks in bids for Kelly, Martin, De Goey, Coniglio etc as have the Kangas. Kangas have outperformed us for 9 out of last 10 years but they have had a war chest which we clearly haven’t because we must grossly overpay our players.
  9. The well known Frost haters have climbed out from under their rock with this news. They had gone to ground over the last 20 weeks based on Frosty’s performances which will see him B & F top 5 whilst highly paid others have been a total flop. One thing that must be realised is that the greatest footy club with the greatest coach in the history of the game are courting him. Also hear the Roos are also. Not sure I’d be coming out from under my rock.
  10. Unbelievably sad, but true.
  11. I fully understand that but you can either overpay D, C & B Graders or you can pay them what they deserve and bring in better players. I strongly believe Dees have done too much of the former I suspect Nathan Jones is one classic example of many. Been a B Grader (based on my D, C, B & A rating system) but has been paid much more over the years than A Graders at Hawks, Cats & Tigers due to this AFL 95% rule.
  12. Our Total Player Payments is what I’d like to be thoroughly reviewed. Based on our ladder performance over the recent past, we are clearly overpaying a great many players when we’re clearly so tight we’re never in the discussion for a Kelly, Coniglio, Hill, Cameron etc. There would be players at Hawthorn, Geelong, Richmond that have performed so much better than many Demons over recent years and being paid far less. For example, I reckon Ricky Henderson from Hawks would be runner up to Max Gawn in our B & F this year, however, I reckon Demons would have 15 to 20 being paid more than him. AFL will eventually follow USA and publish salaries, can’t happen soon enough for me.
  13. I certainly hope you’re correct as I’m in the “we overpaid for a 3rd tall defender” camp.
  14. Insipid at the end at definitely time to go. To suggest another Club would even consider a lifeline is an absolute joke!!
  15. DD, there are some of us that have direct connections to AFL contacts that range from slight to extremely extensive. Just last week I was told by Josh Kennedy of the Swans due to my extensive AFL contacts stemming primarily from Xavier College that several Swans players were stunned at the verbal barrage that Oliver gave Fritsch for not handballing to him. This verbal barrage contained a C bomb which was incomprehensible to the Swans players. Why am I raising this now? Well, I just want to make the point to you that some of us hear quite sensitive & interesting feedback and I for one only chose to pass on a fraction of what I hear. Interestingly, when I posted at the start of the year that Tom Sparrow was going to be a late replacement and would debut well before anybody else had reported it, a number of posters thought it was so unlikely that I remarkably came under criticism. DD, rather than criticise other posters for posting stuff that you don’t like, just accept it is a discussion forum and go with it. Posters will soon be known by their accuracy.
  16. You’re kidding. I’d love some more B Graders. We’re essentially a team of C Graders.
  17. Of course a fit JD would help us but Considering what Draft Picks we’d have to give and our crippling shortages in other areas, it is one I would never have even thought of.
  18. I repeat, more classy small forwards added to medium forwards in Petracca, Fritsch & Melksham. Collingwood looking fantastic with one tall forward since Cox is out plus Richmond only play 2 talls and 4 small/mid forwards. We have NO small classy forwards but at least we have 3 or 4 tall forwards in Tom Mac, Weed, Petty & Preuss. Therefore, to me the overwhelming need is that we need to go get our Rioli, Tipinwooty, Charlie Cameron etc plus our Isaac Smith, Ed Langdon etc before we recruit anymore talls.
  19. Draft Picks only to be used on outside runners & small pressure forwards until we have a fleet of them, eg, Richmond & Collingwood.
  20. Not for me. Perhaps, I’d consider if he was a Free Agent but no draft pick to be used on this guy.
  21. Isn’t it such a sad reminder of what a devastating year it has been that a positive training report gives such pleasure to some Melbourne supporters. Hardly surprising after the garbage that’s been served up all year on match day. Thank goodness they are still boisterous and our Captains are leading the way at training.
  22. Yeah, haven’t heard “in Jason Taylor I trust” for sometime. As I’ve been saying, Jason needs to start getting em right.
  23. It is very easy to retain players if you overpay them. And clearly they are overpaid when you consider our lack of success over the last few years and we are so tight on salary cap we are never in conversation for Shiels, Kelly & Coniglio etc The guy managing the Pies & Tigers salary caps are doing a great job, please don’t tell me the guy managing our TPP is doing a good job
  24. Wow, the despicable adulterer of a teammate says we’ll be alright and challenging for the 8 after a good pre season and on the back of a soft draw for being absolutely insipid this year. Maybe now that he has actually seen a Dees game by virtue of Friday night football he might want to add a multitude of additional steps to a rebuilding plan which should include a major overhaul of the Coaching staff, Recruiting staff & Playing list to restructure what is clearly the most unbalanced Playing in the AFL. Many of us on here have been screaming for outside midfielders and fast, high pressure forwards for years, yet the bozos continued to recruit KPP’s & slow inside mids. To think our equivalent of Richmond’s small forwards eg Rioli, Lambert, Castagna, Baker, Bolton, Stack, are Garlett, Spargo & Chandler. And let’s not compare their outside mids to ours as it gets even more depressing. FCS, leave me out of Wayne Carey.
  25. Well I’d certainly respect and appreciate Nick Riewoldt’s opinion before yours. In fact, I don’t even rate your opinion.
