  1. He's still an improvement on JKH, who has only managed to play 6-8 games per year since his debut season when spots were easier to retain. He's a fringe player that is pushed out of the team within 2-3 weeks maximum and usually gets 3-4 goes at it per year. He's had his chances in years gone by and should be the first player to be omitted when better players return, if he's playing his standard quiet game before omission and we have a good opponent to play. I think this is just a classic case of a players reputation growing because they're not in the team and away from the crosshairs of fans.
  2. Spargo played well last year, he was an important link up cog between the mids and forwards. Jeffy was dropped last year all year, which shows you how Goodwin values that kind of link up player that plays a role. He's not playing as well this year, as he hasn't had enough quality around him to be that icing on the cake player. I think he will get better as the team gets stronger personally. I guess we have differing opinions on his value last year.
  3. Odd. Anyway my point is that Spargo is in his 2nd year and needs to be played in a big game to see if he can flourish and how that will aid his development. We haven't seen his ceiling. The other two have had enough chances and have shown a very low ceiling imo.
  4. When the delisted list comes out in 3 months, will you be bemoaning JKH and Stretch being on it and not Spargo?
  5. 2019 O. McDonald Greatest coaching masterstroke of all time.
  6. He'll have to change his name to Jak Zones if he's going to St Kilda
  7. Travis Varcoe lurking at the back of the room ready to tackle him?
  8. I don't think the Lynch or Martin deals are as monsterous as you think they are. Dusty is 800, Lynch mightve taken less just to get to a finals contending club. Then I dont actually think the MFC are going to allocate a biggish deal for a crumbing small forward. Better to develop in house or try an undeveloped player. But even if they did: the main point i made is that you did not make a satisfactory offer. They won't take our pick 20-23 or so. You gotta come up with something better.
  9. And the sad truth is that we can't make plans around an assumption that Smith, Vandenberg or Lever are on the park for the rest of their careers once fit. @bobby1554
  10. Geelong had a gluttony of midfielders where Caddy was wanting to play and that trade is actually considered one of Geelongs worst trades because they let him go for not much. It was a bizarre trade related to the Deledio request that didnt get done. It's not really a benchmark for future trades. See: https://www.geelongadvertiser.com.au/sport/afl/josh-caddy-trade-geelong-fans-take-to-social-media-to-express-anger-over-move/news-story/ffebaf85a631a1f75874da40c3ec33e1 Higgins as you said is almost guaranteed an elite 10 year career perhaps of the ilk of Ballantyne or Milne. He's not gettable at the price you are willing to pay. Richmond would want what they used to draft him AND some. They would be budgeting their cap around keeping him and again trimming the fat of their lower 16-22 to draft in more kids.
  11. Let's be realistic. Higgins was their first round pick 2 years ago and you'd have to give them pick 10-15 again and another pick swap. Shai Bolton is a player thats been pushed out due to a gluttony of developed or elite small fwds, was only offered 1 year last year and would come cheaply as he was a pick 29 initially. Edit: But on the other hand, if we're being realistic, Goodwin wouldn't take the risk unless he had some inside midfield attributes lol.
  12. And he can train with OMAC all week to build his confidence. And despite those great stats, unfortunately people go the lazy 'soft and kicks joe the goose goals' soundbytes for upvotes, to summarize him. Goodwin should be making a call to his manager after seeing his impact first hand last weekend.
  13. If he and TMAC were swingmen, it would wreak all kinds of havoc on the opposition, having them move back or forward at a whim. Running into the 50 to spoil or mark on the run. You'd be terrified of a Steven May running back with the flight. The unpredictable factor could be one of our weapons. Goody might need to think outside the box for something like this, for 2020 to give us an advantage.
  14. TIL (Today I Learned) Clarko showed Lewis the door by offeringg him a 1 year deal and telling him if he wanted longer he should explore other options. He didn't see the writing on the wall when he performed badly in their Bulldogs semi final. he offered him 1 more year. It was the non-offer of the Hawthorn captaincy that had Lewis slamming the door on his way out. And the week before the semi in 2016, Jordan was BOG with 40 disposals and 153 AF points against Geelong. You don't show someone the door after a performance like that, you're trying to re-write history. You don't rate B&F's? How about grand finals? 2015 GF: 26 disp, 9 marks. 7 clearance. 114 AF points. 2nd highest 2014 GF: 37 disp, 8 marks, 139 AF points. 3rd highest 2013 GF 26 disp, 11 marks, 111 AF points, 1st highest 2012 GF: 20 disp, 1 mark, 86 AF points, 5th highest 2008 GF: 30disp, 7 mark, 93 AF points, 6th highest (22 years old) Lewis is the exact kind of player we needed to bring in for premiership experience, leadership, and to get that 1 year that Clarko thought he had left AND the extra 2 years to lure him to make the move. We all knew he'd slow down in his 2nd year. Making the prelim and expecting May & Lever to make a difference that would provide him the padding to sit back and provide us with disposal out of defence, was our big error this year. If only May had not come back unfit.
  15. Roughead is an interesting one given he's mates with Lewis. I haven't seen much Hawthorn this year, does he have 1 year left? Seems not. But could we bring him in just to fill the void in TGR's life left by the retirement of Lewis?
  16. This is the thread to start after we see how May & Lever are supposed to sure up our defence. Been saying it for the past 3 months. We need to assess which forward to target once it's become absolutely assured that we do need to bring one in
  17. I meant purely in a tactical/defensive coach role for next year. But i'm being a bit presumptous in assuming the club is going to do a full review and bring in new people.
  18. Are you welcome at your old workplace to turn up and just assume you have a role?
  19. That was a good defensive effort by the Blues that day. Really showed that they had put in a good defensive Clarko inspired system. Makes you wonder if Brendan Bolton could bring any expertise to the Dees. That day also shows that our worst is on the level of a bottom team and has been consistently maintained all these years, even when we were gunning for finals/made the finals in 17/18
  20. It's surreal to see a melbourne player with so much effortless speed off a step and around the packs with his sidestep, i'm just used to the explosive speed of Frost & Hunt that are more like straight-line turbo boosts than footwork speed that makes a pack look like it's full of spaces to move and weave around in. Must be what its like to support a team with Brad Hill or Chris Judd in it.
  21. If his last coach was just sacked and his latest is unproven, could it tell us something about his coaching?
  22. My bad. Whenever i see the word 'current' i always associate it with current best 22. Fair enough to put it in his hands then. I would probably go Tmac ahead of him.
  23. I'm JKelly'ing with ya mate. We'd never do something as stupid as Carlton ?
