Maynard must get at least four weeks
John Demonic replied to leave it to deever's topic in Melbourne Demons
Half time at the G. Bloke just reached for the last hot chips and I cannonballed into his head and got it before him. They called security, but I was let go after telling them it was "A Foody Act" -

We all know key players get taken out in big games a . It's the VFL/AFLs big loophole. Has been for years. Maybe I'll watch the NRL finals instead this year. They attempt to do something to take out the advantage for the aggressor on the day. -

Waking up today has not done anything to assuage my anger about that I dont plan on watching the pre-game, half time and post-game stuff on fox or 7 anymore - which I didn't last night from half time onwards out of disgust. The footy media is largely full of unlikeable characters. If im not at a game, then im watching the rest of the finals on mute. Ive seen people say they mute the games, throughout the years online, and thought it was a bit extreme, to lose that crowd atmosphere - but I think I understand now. Just want a pure visual footy experience without any of the verbal diarrhoea. Unsubscribed from every footy podcast too! haha. -
Stuff drafting a kid, poach a key forward.
John Demonic replied to Gorgoroth's topic in Melbourne Demons
If last night's loss was such a season ender and concession of flag favouritism to the Pies, why don't we poach their dominant key forward? Oh wait... They didn't have one.- 380 replies

JVRs crime is being too inexperienced to make it look like an accidental footy act.

And there have always been thugs that know how to purposefully injure while making it look accidental/a footy act. Completely expect him to get off. -

Always been a Micky Mouse league when the most successful clubs took opposition players out off the ball and gained an advantage. No wonder a player who is being coached by a student of "Lethal Leigh" the most renowned thug of all time, would take out one of our mids in a crucial game. Hate the sport sometimes tbh, outside supporting our Dees. -
Stats shmats, we were always down by 15-30 points and/or held at arms length. Of course we're going to dominate when another team is defending a lead and "parking the bus" - It's not that hard to give another team their due credit.

Let's see how big Tommy Mac goes in the next month holding down the fort, while Jacob Van Tap-Artist rucks. Maybe Chol will be surplus to needs by then, with Pettys return next year imminent and TMAC looking ready to go around again to make it 3 flags as a KPF and go down as a Great of the Game Things can change fast.

edit saw a wet weather question asked already, apologies.

Admit it: You want to see the Gawndanui Experiment

Goldstein has already played in prelims and finals. He's at the tail end of his career now and won't ever play finals again, unless he can last 5 years. Not having a go at club loyalty, he's already payed and some to North, and owes them nothing. Different situation to Robert Flower, or Nathan Jones for that matter who only made finals at the end after a career of loyalty and determination to take the club there. Goldstein isn't on that same timeline. I brought it up because the person I was replying to suggested Goldstein for a year or two next year, and there's just no way its happening because Goldstein wants to retire a one club player.

Not a top 10 pick though. I don't like Bell at the best of times, but I can def understand why they'd be annoyed about this particular trade request given the time sunk into Henry's development.

Essendon, Port Adelaide, North Melbourne need an immediate big bodied defender.

The 2023 Draft and Trade Targets Thread
John Demonic replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
He wants to captain the team to 10,000 days without a finals victory -
Not an apt comparison. It would be more like if Mac Andrew was drafted by us, having spent 5 years developing in our academy. And sought a trade in year 4 after finally playing 17 decent games in a role he'd made his own.

2 years at 500k remaining, when he did not get any senior games last year, is a hell of a lot different to 1 year at 500k and numerous senior games where he played very well. Will be at least 3 clubs looking at him to take in that year and smooth it out with two more on less coin. If it's not us doing the same.

if the Gold Coast pick 4 for points falls through: Could we possibly get Essendon's Pick 8 if we packaged Tomlinson, Harmes and #18 & #23 - Or something with our future 1st?

Oh God, nowhere is safe from SEN! Just kidding, guess its traderadio season time :)

The MILKSHAKE thread...favorite flavor?
John Demonic replied to Young Angus's topic in Melbourne Demons
Burger in the left hand, strawberry milkshake in the right. -
I remember this forum in 2019. Balance was the major talking point for our on field issues. We addressed our issues via trade (Langdon) and drafting of course (Kosi, LJ) - but I do think things can go south very quickly when you try and fit a few square pegs into round holes, the team dynamic suffers and the flag/finals can suddenly get out of your reach when you gather some momentum in the loss column.

Wasn't it the Lions in 2004 that tried to beat Port up with fists because they knew that Port had their measure on the field in the GF? No wonder Chris Scott and Sook McCrae use the flu/gastro excuse whenever the lose and can't handle it. Their Thug coach also couldn't handle losing and belted opponents off the ball.
