NON-MFC: Finals Week 02
I'd be ropable if our club went out the way Port have in their last two big do-or-die finals though. Games over at quarter time/half time. Never even get started until its too late.

Are we all on the Giants bandwagon?
Collingwood v GWS. Eddie McGuire or Donald Trump. I'm genuinely confused who to barrack for now

NON-MFC: Finals Week 02
I wish that I had Jesse's 4. Why can't I find a full forward like that?

Death Riding Fremantle 2023 - Feathered Cap Edition
Some kind of cruel poetic irony that a player, whose absence from Fremantle this year, helped sew up their demise and aided us getting pick 5, kicked the winner against us. What a fantastic final series he's played so far. Maybe we should've asked for him in the pick trade. #Hindsight2023

What's needed in 2024
That's skipping a generation! And just feels like a backwards Dyson Heppell type of captaincy move that promotes disharmony in the senior ranks. No offence to Trent or anything, but he's 22 and has 4-5 years of development in him and I dont expect Max or Viney to be around by then, and in two years, will probably be injury prone more often than not. Maybe if we'd been able to draft Noah Anderson instead of LJ, we'd be having that discussion in year or two though!

Having a forward line to kick to might do that too

What's needed in 2024
Interesting topic. There has to be a leadership GROUP transition at the very least. Tracc, Brayshaw and Lever will all be 29 heading into the 2025 season and I think that's the last opportunity to make the big leap to a new leader, knowing that players bodies don't hold up so well 2+ years on from there. I think big Max deserves another year at it though. Having said that, making the 'tough decision' to give Tracc the captaincy next year, might be the spark or fire that takes his game to another level. If that's even possible.

Understandable mate. My only solace will be seeing the Lions win a prelim and grand final by 10 goals x2. At least then I might feel like we didn't actually squander anything, and that a club like them, who've been contending for half a decade, finally put together a finals similar to ours in 21 and were worthy winners, that nobody could've stopped.

I can completely understand Fritsch turning to the crowd to pump them up and get them behind us. I feel like he and maybe Tracc are the only ones that understand the power behind it and harnessing the energy. But when it comes to turning back to our players, and engaging in gleeful hugs and smiles, like the job is done. I too felt that same 'awkwardness' - Don't want to pick on Kozzy as he's young, but he was smiling like his spiteful enemy had been vanquished for good after that Frisch goal and it made my stomach turn. You want to see a much more determined steeliness in regards to player interactions after goals. think back to the 21 GF and Tracc's reaction to his boundary worm burner goal. Just fierce determination to keep dominating them.

Has the club? It's upsetting to admit it, but maybe we haven't. Maybe it shook us. Playing in front of a big MCG crowd baying for blood. We may have been too good for the has-been Tigers on Anzac Eve in 22', but the step up from that against another contender with a big supporter base. Maybe we haven't.

That's what I think too. We hear of a so-called "professional attitude" in regards to modern footy and player movement and exploring options, but this non-selection stinks of a personality clash and of a clouding of judgement over adequate team selection. Who's at fault, I dont know. But I think Goodwin deep down is a very passionate character whose opinion might've held a lot of sway over others, and - well personally I don't know Grundy well enough, but its totally plausible that he too through body language and management discussions, put himself completely on the outer after being told to work on his forward craft. Just thought both parties would be big enough to step up and make it work for two finals. But we're talking footy clubs, full of players and ex-players predominantly made up of 20-50 year olds - not exactly the most mature workplaces.

Langdon in his first two seasons struck the perfect blend between hard-nut and athlete that runs lanes and puts his body on the line. The last two seasons however, it seems he's strayed too far in the direction of lane running athletics. Only there to fill a strategic purpose, not allowed much 'space' to play on instinct, and kept out of the action too much to gain any kind of confidence to impact a 'match' with high disposals and metres gained.
