  1. I know it doesnt count, but we beat them in the NAB cup. Vandenberg tore them a new one
  2. 5 seasons of wanting Hawthorn to lose every game builds up a mighty habit. Hard to just switch to Hawthorn supporting mode so easily. Well it's over now, 33 points. Few more goals will be nice.
  3. QUIZ TIME: If you could choose one of two options, which would you choose: a. Melb make finals, but Hawthorn win premiership or b. Melb don't make finals, Hawthorn don't win premeirship Reason I ask: I keep finding myself barracking for the Kangas today by default, and realising what i'm doing. I think i HATE hawthorn more than i LOVE Melbourne. Oops :/ Damn 4pete.
  4. Awesome! Take that Tim. How about some draft picks and a fringe player for Hurley? That's all you'll get! if you're lucky...
  5. There was no sarcasm. The joke was about Howe being played in the wrong place implying he is a gun in the forward line. I don't see how including other true statements about not blaming the players and Treloar being their best could also be included as sarcasm?
  6. Watson & Essendon have the touch of death. If they say they want TMAC then i reckon they're saying he's far better than Hurley and they think they can discreetly rip us off. They must really think Hurley is gone and are desperate to get something as they know he's not going to offer them much without his heart in their club. The more I think about it, the more i'm shifting towards TMAC in terms of presence if a choice between both. TMAC has a commanding follow-my-lead style body approach on the contest. Michael Hurley does seem like a bit of a man-child. I mean he's a tough competitor, but maybe it was the dreads. He seems like he could still be flimsy in terms of discipline and maturity. He does seem like he's had the feral teen years perhaps. TMAC might be the more solid stable player that we need to build around. The game v Hawks has obviously shifted a lot of peoples perceptions on our club, which is sad in a way. Good, but how flip floppy can some of us get, guilty as charged. Dangerfield was Dean Gore and pick 9 & 29. Something similar would be what we should offer in terms of a package of draft picks or draft pick swaps and a player.
  7. It's certainly set the bar, but make no mistake, that bar is not 100% invincible. Even if we bring this effort and kamikaze pressure: We'll also need a PLAN B for when this extremely fast paced string of possession as well as forward press zone does not work. Will come from experience, but we should know how to LOCK down teams and congest. Learn how to control the tempo of the game and keep possession in a skillful manner. How to capitalise on scoring quick goals in succession in a break in a game when when it's not on our terms. Much to learn obviously.
  8. OMaC might be young, but he looks like a very flexible defender, physically. Reminds me of Jake Carlisle. TMac's body bulk and physical presence is his strength, but in terms of his disposal and flexibility to make a quick decision and have his body respond, it's his weakness. I think Omac's potential is actually in what some perceive to be his weakness, his lanky skinniness. OMac just needs to go and get some tats, do some gym work and come back looking like a ferocious and muscley junky. He could become a very fast thinking everywhere-defender that throws his inspector gadget arms at every ball. Tmac and Omac should be stoppers. The other 4 should be the ones we use to run it out of defence. Jetta has to be a stopper and a disposer or he might become depth.
  9. I think it was Lloyd who has said they'd want Rance or Dustin Martin equivalent player. I think we don't need Hurley if we have to give away a very good player like Tyson. After this weeks performance i'm convinced its about effort and confidence, and another year will naturally develop our young defenders. I really hope this club backs up this performance. They can't rely on one big win a year. TMac either re-signs or we use him for Hurley. That's all we can offer imo.
  10. ...Assume Dawes kicked it along the boundary line instead of into the middle of the ground, in a close contest in the last seconds of the game.
  11. He's a sniper for sure, but that wasn't snipey. Watts hand gouge to his face was more snipey. All Mitchell did was react instinctively imo and probably went too far with the slap. He's lucky he didn't make more forceful contact, that's all
  12. The only drama I had with tMAC on the weekend was when he played on without thinking next to Cyril. Haha, big mistake. I suppose its more a team tactic, but he still should be doing a very quick assessment of his surroundings instead of playing on as his immediate reaction.
  13. That's the creepiest thing i've read on this forum.
  14. Nothing new here, just adding to the hype-train. http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/super-footy-podcast-round-20-melbourne-must-get-michael-hurley-brisbanes-woe-bartels-spanner-in-the-works/news-story/1d0be64f0bda59ac90f8100c5c81d285?nk=79f882af6b1255f2ff5dd8e49c85ea48-1470632300 MELBOURNE must get Michael Hurley. That’s the verdict of Herald Sun football writer Jon Anderson, who told the SuperFooty Podcast that the time was right for the Demons. “They’re looking at Michael Hurley, don’t worry about that,” Anderson told Anthony Hudson and Mick Warner in the SuperFooty bunker “Tom McDonald is a really good key defender, but they need another one.” Huddo said Hurley was no closer to making a decision than he was when he went on holidays with several of the banned Bombers last month. “Talking to people from the Essendon camp, they were really counting on the time away with all the mates that that was going to be a real positive for him to come back and maybe he would say yes,” Huddo said. “But my information within the last three or four days is that his mind hasn’t changed in terms of going back to Essendon.” MICHAEL HURLEY WILL LEAVE ESSENDON SAYS PAUL CHAPMAN Ando said Hurley would do his due diligence before making a decision. “Speaking to someone who knows him very well, Michael Hurley will go to the club he thinks is best prepared, best set up to win a premiership,” Ando said. “He’s a very, very single minded young man who is no dill, and he’ll just go through everything possible to ensure, in his mind, he is going to the right place.”
  15. I'd consider trading him and Chris Dawes to Brisbane for Daniel Merrett. No point splitting them up.
  16. Hawk fan: The big point that no one is talking about (they're too busy circle jerking over us losing) is that without Frawley we had next to zero defensive structure. Me: Without Melbourne, you wouldn't have Frawley. Think about his impact on the defensive structure of Melbourne. How would the Hawthorn forward line have gone against him? The irony is so delicious.
  17. Idea for Mods: Add the date of the thread creation with the list of threads in the forum. I thought Jack had just signed a 4 year deal.
  18. Freo leading WCE by 8, almost half time. Eagles only 8 points ahead of Saints with Haw, GWS and ADEL to come. Unfortunately 3 games and percentage ahead of us. Our game against them could have been a missed opportunity to (potentially) claim 7th and play the Dogs, what a game. Oh well fantasy now If we don't make the 8, i'd be pretty happy for StKilda and the Kangas to make it. [censored] the boring away game eagles. what a waste of a finals game they'd be at the G
  19. Imagine if they scheduled it at Simmonds Stadium, it would be the ultimate insult. :/ Lucky the stand is being re-built, so no finals there.
  20. I think most likely is Sydney and GWS win by 30, and we beat Port & Carl by 30. and Geel 12 and make the 8. Us needing to win any game by 60 is probably not necessary.
