I think i'd rather see Gold Coast take him and beat Carlton after a lengthy 'restraint of trade' arbitration process. Gil makes up rules on the fly, surely he can engineer them holding onto JM until he nets them RFA compo. Aren't we going to pick up Sam Murray in the PSD anyhow?

Recruiting a 3rd tall forward to find another 50 goals?
The thread title was a year old and related to losing Hogan and his 40-50 goals last year and adding another tall to pick up some slack. The premonition about both Smiths not being a reliable bet to hedge on came true with their injury histories. And also Pedo & Keilty are departed. Why exactly haven't we even replaced them with a depth kpf/3rd tall in the trade period even if they won't get a game if not for injury or poor form? Will we do it at the draft with a WAFL/SANFL/VFL player? or in the PSD? If the club is going to gamble on a clean bill of health all year to our forwards and have Tomlinson, Gawn or Preuss drop forward if need be, so be it. I just hope it doesn't backfire.. again. As a repeated mistake is the definition of stupidity. And no matter how fit our entire team gets, having TMac or Weid injured if they even get back to their best, will rule us out of winning a premiership if we make it to the latter stage of the season and have to go up against Grimes/Rance/Astbury, McGovern, Barass, Davis, Haynes etc. I don't care for finishing 2nd-8th, but that's as high as we'll possibly be able to make it imo. 50 goals from 5 forwards is fine, but you can't rely on that week to week and it all falls apart if you lose your two kpf forward structure. Agree with all posters though, we have to gamble on Weid for another year or two to find out if he's going to take the next step with consistent footy, just wouldn't mind another tall to provide us with a safety net.

Nice to see a bit of media that isn't Andy Maher arrogantly gushing over Carlton picking him up in the PSD re manager interview yesterday

Seems to be a bit of contraditory info out there. All i know is we have a minimum two year contract, and camp A says it can't be front loaded and has to be x amount of dollars over 2 years and camp B says it can be something ridiculous like 1.5mil 1 year, 100k 2nd year. Or even 2.4 million for 2 years, and then 200k/year in a new contract offer in 2021 for years 3 and 4 "A player (other than a first-year draft choice or a second-year player) may specify in the nomination form the football payments he will require over two years if selected at a Draft Selection Meeting."

Dan Menzel mustn't be happy with this change of strategy.

Recruiting a 3rd tall forward to find another 50 goals?
Same position up forward as last year again. Can't see us contending for a premiership at all. We'll have enough trouble making the 8, but we all know it's premiership or failure every year from now on in..

Lockhart will do fine. Will be 24 next year and as tenacious as ever to keep his place in the team.

Yeah, but so can Gold Coast

A Papladox- Are we plotting a late heist?
Sydney love McCartin and have him pegged either up forward or down back for the next decade. Will take a lot more than pick 8 for Papley and him.- Farewell to Our First Pick in 2020
Fair enough, just thought a pick that can acquire an Ed Langdon quality player is a little bit too sweet to throw into a deal.- Anyone heard? Tom/Tom
What are they worth?- Farewell to Our First Pick in 2020
Why the [censored] couldnt we just trade 2020 1st for pick 8...- James Aish
Bit of a wAisht of list spaisht- Gun target - Key Forward recruit?
So did Chook in Perth ever explain the De Goey comment?- Tom Green (Drafted by GWS Giants)
Would be a great pick up for player morale, but i worry that he may be too old and past his best.- Brad Hill
Would love Brad Hill. Should we start a gofundme page for donations?- Splitting Draft Pick 3
What would stop Gold Coast from picking him up in the PSD?- Gun target - Key Forward recruit?
Im kind of curious, what are the Collingwood fans opinions of his training, effort levels, does he do rehab properly? Genuine matchwinner, but who knows if he's going to spend the next 5 years as a Jamie Elliott prior to this year. Battling soft tissue injuries - Are we plotting a late heist?
