  1. Yeah, confident in the club to acquire what it needs or can get done, they have the big picture in mind. I just think DL'ers expecting a a first round picks and elite recruits like Gaff & May might be a little disappointed. Priority might be having the cap space and picks to get both recruits, rather than acquiring what people think is fair for Hogan.
  2. Bumping my Q: If we need Hogans salary off the books because an elite mid nominates us, then we dont have all the leverage with Freo as we dont want to hold hogan for a year, correct? We want the trade done quickly so long as it satisfies in providing the picks we can use on other trades. I wouldnt expect the club to pursue overs, only what it needs which may include unders to get it done, only so we can make sure the S.May + elite mid deals happen at a minimum. Thoughts?
  3. You want our club to be captained by clingy Tex Walker?
  4. And with that we've shown freo our hand. We need the cap space now to get gaff, so will take slight unders for hogan just to get it done to focus on the deal ie we dont want to play hard ball and keep Hogan for 1 year. I wont be suprised if the club considers Gaff and May alone a win. If we get anything above those 2 ie another first round pick, id be very suprised. Additional Q. What if WCE match? We would have to give something correct? Wont it be the freo trade leftovers after a May pick up?
  5. I reckon youre partially correct. We hold the whip, but things seem to have now progressed towards there being plenty at stake for us too to get a trade done easily. If freo catch wind that we're waiting on it to acquire Gaff& May, then its feasible that we will settle for pick 5 and 9 or 10. They have the time issue to call a bluff and we have a significant deal on the cards that will mean we have zero interest in keeping him a year and need the cap relief.
  6. Youve got a feeling that every player mentioned on this board will be ours?! Prepare for disappointment
  7. Pretty much why we drafted Petty. Striking while the iron is hot on a player who we assessed as much better than the pick we got him with. He either develops in a few years into a Lever who stays in our back 6, or becomes a tradeable asset that nets us some high picks. But I digress. The point is to take an opportunity that presents as it might not come again.
  8. I think people are confusing frosts main assett (burst of speed) as anything more than icing on a cake for a kpd. May is a much more rounded defender, and OMAC is or will be too on a developmental curve. We can recruit speed elsewhere with our half back flanks/wings
  9. We havent played close to as good as both clubs today. With all due respect, that is delusional. We would have gone to water under the pressure of the eagles tall marking forwards or pies 5 goal start. We look amazing when everything is going our way, and took some big steps towards curbing the infuence of a team when it's not. But we're a year off staning up under pressure of a big game. A free ride into the grand final? What a massive disservice to a club that has overcome a stacked compo towards mcg teams. Richmond pre prelim were neck and neck with pies at 3/4 time, and overran a team 2 rotations down -they also were smashed interstate all year . Had nowhere near as much unity and confidence in their system as both gf finalists with backs against wall. Level at 3/4 time, showed massive effort for both clubs to go goal for goal and to end in a small margin. But monumental to come down from 5 goals, backing the system to grind away methodically.
  10. If the Pies win for Buckley, it will be an amazing feraltale
  11. AVB + Tyson Z. Jones + 3rd round pick They need inside mids to release Parker, Heeney and others to positional areas.
  12. Why did Hawthorn recruit Frawley? He'd done neither. He was recruited on his body of work as a defender and ended up being crucial to their finals campaign to win a premiership. and then you've got Lynden Dunn who would be a walk up start to take Kennedy if he was fit for a grand final No defender for a bottom team gets the opportunity to prove themselves until their team gets back to finals. Doesn't mean they're not capable of thriving. It's a calculated risk you take.
  13. No trades will happen for any clubs if that is the new standard, it's obviously an anomaly born of GCS desperation to get a home town boy home.
  14. Journos don't have time to track stats it seems. Maybe these are the unintended consequences of not nipping injuries in the bud. We don't persist two or three weeks with Hogan limited to underperforming in the goalsquare, get him into surgery early. He comes back for the last three games like Viney. Sets the world on fire and these trade under scenario's don't get proposed. Recency bias in action I think now, as it's half a season since he dominated. You can bet Freo and our club know his value. And we hold the cards. Best to avoid Freo fans in discussing trade though, they'll pretend he's just a good player.
  15. Cryptic. Is it wingard? He's a great snapper from 30 on a sharp angle
  16. Someone sms red nob that Jesse is tracking better than Josh Kennedy at same age ffs
  17. Cap space would be a bit of an issue i'd assume. But i'm no accountant
  18. Were you responding to me about WC/Hogan? The only premise is that they manage to get Gaff to us through some creative accounting, we make sure they get Hogan, (win/win) and then we use everything they can give us for Hogan in order to get Steven May and a leftover draft pick. Gaff & May is a win to me.
  19. Why not a Jesse Hogan trade to West Coast? Why is the thread exclusive to Freo? I reckon Jesse would take 200K unders to go to a successful club and JK is not getting any younger. Just spitballing and i'll confess my complete ignorance to trade discussion, so please correct any glaring errors. West Coast gain 800K in their cap from Gaff and the salary 350-400k? from Lycett combined leaving. Could it be a situation where they agree to not match Gaff, they pay a frontloaded part of Gaff's salary to ensure he ends up in Demon colours and our cap is not compromised, say 150k per year off a 1million per year 5 year contract. They get Hogan on a backloaded contract and the compensation pick from the AFL for Gaff (if any?) and we get their 2018 1st Pick + 2nd (or player instead) and 2019 first round pick. We then give pick 17, a second round pick and Frost and potentially Tyson to Gold Coast for S. May. We get Gaff, May & 2019 WCE first round pick. Obviously not an exact trade would go down, but something complex that could make it happen. West Coast make a godfather offer (what they have) to get Hogan, GCS accept unders so long as they get players and picks. I await ridicule!
  20. He's an immoveable nugget like mcGovern, it's more about what you have to get around than out reach. But if you're talking about the rare phenomena of 211cm forwards, you play your ruck or 2nd ruck loose deep or have a high leaping intercept like Lever and your kpb applying skillful body positioning.
  21. The kicking coach perhaps ?
