  1. Mahoney said stiffening up defence was one of 3 priorities we plan to address in trade week, this tells me that no back 6 arrangement we had this year is satisfactory going forward. So if Hogan stays, the question is do we have another recruit in mind? Do we wait for 1 year for May? Does Hogan staying/extending include his happiness to play anywhere in particularly at CHB?
  2. Would like to hear mahoney answer a question of what will be done in defence if Hogan stays. Do we have a plan b recruit or May next year?
  3. Something to do with Mahoney listing stiffening up defence as 1 of 3 priorities. Hogan at chb is speculative
  4. "Yet the club is prepared to give a fringe ruckman a four-year deal. " Geez now i know how it feels to be a Labor MP taking a hammering from an agenda driven Murdoch rag
  5. I'd eat a Sylvia Bennell [censored] sandwich for pick 5 & 6 though. Party in Bali on minimum afl wage for 3 years.
  6. Fair enough. But I do think we're underselling him a little. Put him back in the middle where he was a runner up in the 2014 best and fairest (4th in 2016) with dedicated minutes and he can excel again. Becoming a regular 30 disposal player. Zaharakis pushed to wing, Dev Smith at HBF. His stats take a noticeable dip this year because of being played out of position. Anyway, the initial comment above about 'those fans' supposes that we're all on the same page in regards to Tysons value. I think he has a big upside that a few clubs will at least bite on a 30-40 pick. Perhaps that's not enough for Tipungwati, but i don't think it's as clear cut. A season or two more of inconsistency and he'd be potentially on the table to address a deficiency somewhere else. Re Garlett, well who knows if he can switch it on again with senior selection somewhere else. He isn't at a retirement age yet.
  7. Tyson is depth because we bat deep (Well actually he was best 22 in our finals) - Essendon don't bat deep, therefore he's best 22. How is that madness? We're not 'sending' to a good home, we're trading because of surplus. Edit: And from my understanding from a few Bomber fans, Tipungwati is not a consistent performer. He can be patchy and also a one way runner. There are drawbacks to both Tipungwati & Tyson.
  8. If Tyson nominates Essendon. I wonder if we could prize McDonald-Tipungwati off of them. At first glance they'd be horrified to part with a 'cult' hero. But looking at Tysons numbers, he's a far superior and dependable player to have on a team thats lacking in the middle, he'd compliment Merrett and Heppell. Extracting and feeding it to them where they can do damage with their disposal on outside. Whereas in Tipungwati we get a stay at home crumber that offers elite pressure with his speed, something we've been missing to some degree. Throw in Garlett if need be to sweeten the deal.
  9. Petraccattack forgot the golden rule of DL in that we hate every non mfc person with a burning hatred & Disgust. Shame.
  10. I reckon this ones more apt for this thread
  11. Cant you read tea leaves? They went to Darjeeling
  12. Our young player are reaching their peak age in the next few years. It should offset the loss of VDB who is currently at his. A 25-26yo Petracca will be a sight to behold. Viney 24 right now, scary that he's getting better/stronger.
  13. Yes. Why else would there be penis extension adverts on my page, if he wasnt extending.
  14. But then again, defenders have the higher ratio of winning or 'nullifying' contests than forwards have of winning them. Might be the kind of role that suits his temperament.
  15. Trade week is pretty darn complex you'd have to agree. Gold Coast trading out their contracted co-captain a year early to get a pick equating to what they'd get as compo a year later, balancing up the negative effect of holding on to a player and not going for the 'fresh reset. As are we balancing this issue with keeping Hogan. I just think we have to wait a week for it to play out. As others have said. Trust JT, he has the track record. Only in a year or two will we know if this is the one recruit that shifts many other pieces into place. And as others have said, we're in the business of list improvement, not of winning individual trades. If it's overs to make a trade move that gets us a premiership, so be it. Personally, I think if we do give a top 10 pick, then you'd expect that we'd be getting back 2nd's and 3rds, or swapping pick positions with them, in much the same way Adelaide gave two first round picks to get a 29 year old Bryce Gibbs, but in return got 2nds and 3rds, which made it more palatable. New list manager probably wants to just save face and make sure Gold Coast don't look like they're being screwed by showing the AFL world they're getting a top 10 pick. But in reality, pick swaps should show we're getting back plenty.
  16. I think you're missed the point.Their opinion was that it was a domino falling recruit that shifted many pieces into place ie team balance. For us, May can allow Omac to be 2nd, which allows Lever to be 3rd, which keeps Tmac permanently forward, which allows Weid to be 2nd, which allows Preuss/Gawn to be 3rd etc. Take out Lake, and Frawley is exposed, and so was Gibson. They did not mean Lake alone was the reason they won 3 premierships. Just the piece of the puzzle that allowed the others to play in their most optimum position.
  17. Ay storm boy, can you tell us which Swan we're getting for Vandenberg? Is it Melican?
  18. I think most peoples trade scenario's will also have pick swapping to reach two top 10 pick point value, if they dont involve an actual top 10 player like Brayshaw
  19. I dont really see it as good news if true, aside from lolnorf meme value. NM now have 1.2m for josh Kelly offer and WCE added gaff to a team capable of dominating a grand final
  20. i still havent gotten over Plugger to Richmond for mainstream news blunders
  21. Taberner is better insurance as a forward for an injury to tmac or weid. He and preuss could fight over the 3rd tall/relief ruck spot. Although i think an outside runner in brad hill or mid in brayshaw is a far superior choice
  22. Spoke to a hawk supporter that thinks B Lake is the only reason they won all premierships. The missing link. Also his forced retirement the reason why they didnt win a 4th. Just goes to show how important one recruit can be for team balance
  23. Or adam 'double as many bounces as the nearest player in 2018' saad. Handy wingman to keep the jetta/ryan/rioli space zoned off a fortnight ago
  24. Craig cameron is a new list manager though. He probably wont be repeating the greatest hits trades of yesteryear.
