Part 9: Jason Taylor - Visionary or Over-rated - 2021
DeeZone replied to Deespicable's topic in Melbourne Demons
Thanks Deespicable another great read which bring back a lot of fond memories. -
Agree if Angus had of been a raging bull would Maynard have dropped his shoulder and aimed for it, highly unlikely me thinks.
-
Agree I thought it was Bill’s best game to date, he like all players need continuity to build belief and win the trust of teammates. Same with Woey I kept an eye on him Saturday night he was making position all night to provide an option for our kick ins but no one used him, thinking it’s a lack of trust in his ability to find the next target.
-
Me to we get the opportunity to bring in new players, another pre season into our kids and we hopefully get to start a new season with Tracc, Clayton, Max, Jack, Jake, Steve, Petts, Ed and maybe TMac and Milshake refreshed and ready to take some big scalps. What’s not to be excited about.

Personally I believe that we need to free up 5-6 spots on the list at a minimum, we have to accomodate McVee, AMW and possibly Verrall . We need:- 1. Ruckman 2. Biggish, fast midfielder 3. Med/ tall utility Use freed up Rookies spots for best available No pressure Jason Taylor & Tim Lamb just don’t let us down. Lol!!!

Agree Binman it looked pretty dire my daughter said god we could lose by 10 goals. I was hoping like hell we would regain some momentum and stop their run which we eventually did. Their mids were better all night and although Max had been pretty good they totally bamboozled us in the first 15 minutes of the last quarter. We looked totally inept. What is your handle on that 15-20 minutes Binman?
-
Also what about that two handed push in the back as he went to mark, cheats didn’t get penalised and got a goal out of it. He looked pretty sore after that but he has great spirit and was still kicking his 50m clearances.
-
I thought that Bill was OK last night, his pass to Fritta was sublime.
-
I must admit when we went to the game I hoped for a win but expected a loss, yet we came out firing 10 shots on goal but only converted 50%, our pressure was right up there. The Giants have a lot of tools in their bag of tricks, their handballing is creative and their short passing is accurate and hard to stop, they run in waves and have a lot of very good players and stagers but when it came down to it in the end we’re their forwards (bloody Hogan) kicked at 72% accuracy for set shots and we kicked at 62%, they kicked straighter and all our hard work and sometimes quite brilliant team work went unrewarded. The conditions were so cold and damp but both sides adjusted pretty well, at the end of the game we just all looked at each other and thought we should have won it. Demon Army were great all night, the people around us were quite vocal and we enjoyed hot jam donuts as we walked back towards the city to get the car. No parking at the G not even for Permits, outlandish really.
-
The umpires certainly saw it that way last night, never missed an opportunity to reward them then blatantly refused to pay identical free’s for us. Grrrrrr.!!!
-
We drove in tonight but no parking at G not even for permits, long walk grand kids were stoic, six of us made it in but to be honest it was freezing cold and we had a brilliant first quarter but kicked ourselves out of it when we couldn’t score at more than 50% accuracy rate, Giants scored at 65% and they beat us out of the middle. By the time we got back to the car we were icier than when we got there but very poor crowd.😪

Thanks red and blue forever, greatly appreciated, just need Ed Langdon signature and I will be happy.
-
6 - Clayton Oliver I also thought it was Clarry’s best game for the year. 5 - Trent Rivers works so hard and never gives in, great 1st half 4 - Jake Lever much better game tonight, ran hard to spoil and link up 3 - Ed Langdon excellent work rate, saved us numerous times, couple of dodgy out of bounds but he back to his best 2 - Judd McVee cool and calm under pressure great kick breaks up their attack 1 - Jack Viney great contested work, wish he had McVee disposal -10 for Umpires, made my blood boil even when I was starting to freeze, Jeezuz how cold was it at the G tonight. We could have won it but in the end it was Hogan, bad luck, our inability to man up and our poor disposal that cost us the game.

Agree T R-B I am really enjoying the IG Mindset series very well produced. Simon is very articulate takes personal development seriously and has a great handle on realistic expectations, ie can’t expect the same output with our current crop vs our ‘21 group.
-
True NC he did represent us in the Grand Final sprint last year which was a bit surprising.😁
-
Yes he did dees189227 he said that he loved the club and that he didn’t want to be anywhere else. I remember early in the year that he told WCW at training that he loved it here and no way he will get homesick.
-
Don’t forget Kade Chandler also V quick over 20m, Kynan Brown also looks quickish judging from that run down against Roo’s and racking up 24 tackles last WE, but only a kid.
-
Resilience is important CF they expect the barbs, taunts and belittling from their opponents opposition supporters, etc not so much from their supposed supporters.
-
First off a big thanks for your Attendance WCW and great feedback it is very informative, reassuring and a bit concerning as well. I love that you have excellent interaction with players and FD, etc, it is nice to get that type of information in your reports. We all want our team and FD to do well and be happy in their environment some just can’t hide their anger or hurt when things go pear shaped. Love that Clayton stories are fabricated nonsense. Looking forward to the videos.👍💕

Sorry double up.

Congratulations Koltyn Tholstrup and MFC, love what Lamb has done over the last couple of weeks - Daniel Disco Turner, Harry Swingman Harrison, Caleb Jet Windsor and now Koltyn Kolt Tholstrup. That is such great news, I really rate this kid, actually all of them but this one in particular. Just need to re-sign The Judd McVee long term and get Mr Ed Langdon on board. Do your stuff Tim Lamb.
-
According to his stats he’s played 197 games DD.
-
Tom Sparrow’s kicking and positioning was sublime in the Granny kicked 1 and helped set up 4. He was on fire but was playing high half forward. Tom’s best mate was JJ and they shared a house together, the changes may have unsettled him, I am a huge Sparrow fan but statistically he has dropped right off. Hope he gets it all back together.
-
And Angus Brayshaw who nearly won one if I remember correctly.😁

Part 8: Jason Taylor - Visionary or Over-rated - 2020
DeeZone replied to Deespicable's topic in Melbourne Demons
Thanks Deespicable great read, 2020 was a real mess and a lot of kids missed their opportunities in Victoria that’s for sure. Agree Jake Bowey and Benny Brown were significant in our run to Premiership success. I haven’t given up on Bailey Laurie but he needs to transfer his VFL form to AFL in 2025 or he will be a bust for us. I am enjoying this series.
