I did some researching and came across the Roosy pie night in August this year. Stole this quote from pitmaster who attended the night and practically got this from Roosy himself. We won't draft Wright even if available. Roosy did not exactly say this but he gave a very strong indication when the words 'won't take Wright' came out as part of an unfinished sentence. He was going on to say something else but stopped himself, but it was his comments about talls and the TAC that were most informative. He told us about the special rules for the TAC about no double teaming on talls, no players dropping back to flood and the fact that talls at that level often are mismatched for opponents. Mids on the other hand are matched evenly and it was clear he reckons a good mid at TAC level has a much higher chance of being a good mid at AFL level than a tall has of making the same progression. In other words TAC is so unlike AFL that it's not a good guide for talls. He explicitly said - "you can't judge talls in the TAC Cup". Plus he talked about the need for many mids - high half forwards who play as mids, half backs ditto, wings...you get the picture. Key message for me was we will draft mids and trade for talls. In fact I wanted to ask would he have drafted Hogan but did not get the chance, but given the Hulk's exceptional body the answer was probably yes. In summary he does not value draft picks the way some of us do: 'at Sydney we traded many draft picks because it's a lottery, the draft". Brendan Goddard is pretty arrogent... whats your point?
-
He looks bloody good doesn't he..Must nail this pick! We all know Brayshaw is a lock at 2 and im pretty confident he will be a beauty of a player for us but pick 3 is the vital one. We need to continue to add depth to the midfield to the point where the likes of Mckenzie Bail and Riley literally cannot break into the side.

I remember pre 2009 draft everyone was Saying we should take John Butcher at pick 1 because the combination of Watts and Butcher for the next 10 years would set our forward line up..

I think he has alot of upside. Ps I was ment to say that post last night I wasn't having a dig at you. Good old auto correct.

Just heard the news this bloke just got delisted by the crows. Crow fans are seriously not happy this kid has been cut. A lot of people were very surprised that he got overlooked in the draft as he had a very good under 18s for SA last year and was playing senior footy aswell. For people that don't know him he is 178cm tall and weighs 78kg. He was rated last year as having the best kick as noted by his 86% disposal effiancy which shows his cleanness and poise with the ball. And inside ball winner who loves the hard stuff. Not only is he a big time inside midfielder but he can also play out side or even on a half back flank as is his ability to hit targets by foot. The way he plays just screams Sam Mitchell and I would love for the Dees to atleast consider him a rookie or worse DFA. Had a pretty good year this year in the SANFL hence to the dismay of a lot of crow supporters. At one stage rated as a serious top 15 player of the draft. Would add some inside and outside grunt for us. A good write up on him pre draft last year http://www.scpaige.com.au/draftess-in-focus-james-battersby/ and Highlights https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=khLr6h3G5H4 32 Sydney (via Carlton and Richmond) - James Battersby (SA – Mid/Def) Height: 177cm, Weight: 78kg, DOB: 7/11/1995 Recruited from: Sturt Style: Player comparison: Range: 20-rookie Profile: He is a real link up and run and carry type off a midfielder or back flank but a high production guy who finds plenty of it and uses it well. Battersby is one of the elite users of the footy in this draft class by hand and foot and he’s someone you want the ball in the hands of as that real precision kick. He has real composure to him just making the right decision every time even when under pressure and has excellent vision allowing him to see targets other may not and hitting his target up seamlessly. Battersby is one of the few players in this draft who can really use the footy on either side by hand and foot. Battersby through the midfield has shown that he can win the footy both inside the contest as well as prove an effective outside accumulator. He’s also shown off a back flank that he reads the ball exceptionally well and can be an both an effective 1v1 and intercept mark. Battersby has played strong footy through the u18 champs but he has also played some strong senior footy back in SA which will please the recruiters showing that he perform against the best young players in the country and against stronger more mature bodies.

To me McCartin seems to have a bit too much 'puppy fat'.

Do you honestly think they will bring him in straight after we just recruited Garlett...

Pete Ryan from the AFL and Terry Wallace both gave us B.Wallace was pretty impressed with the way we went about things.

Nail on the head.Luke Hodge like in the way he controls the backline. A kid that would command respect and set up our players. If Petracca slips to 2 grab him and Brayshaw and thats our midfield for the next 10 years. If not grab Lever at 3.

Last game he played was against Collingwood which was round 22 I think.Dont know where some on here are getting this idea he didn't play the last 7 games when he clearly played late towards the end. Ps that was a dig at you btw. -
McCartins highlights are quite poor actually. Were they seriously the best ones they could come up with.

What trade deal? Not even GNF has mentioned what deal would have eventuate? I mean keep hearing this so called trade deal that would have happened if trengove had passed yet Josh Mahoney mentioned that they hadn't even go further to discuss trade deals with the tiges. I highly doubt there was ever a big Deal looming. GNF never mentioned trengove doing a medical before Jay Clark leaked it. Wasn't until it came out he decided to run with it. The guy made demonland a laughing stock with all his riddle [censored]. Biggest week since 2000 grand final week my ass.

Time to reveal those rubbish riddles. Obviously whatever plan you or the club had didn't pull off. You have been extremely quite after a supposed deal fell through and been MIA. You have already been online today and seen people asking for proof of whatever deal was suppose to happen. Time to own up.

Would happily have taken him at pick 23 but now that's gone... no way will he last till pick 40 unfortunately
