Forwards coach
I'd be making a call to Tom Hawkins as a potential 1 year deal player to help the likes of Jackson and Weideman transition onto a forwards coaching role ala Jaryd Roughead.

All good points Wise, and I do get where you're coming from regarding Jackson. As you said, for now time will tell.

But he wasn't a reach? Bulldogs and Port Adelaide have been noted to say that they were set to pounce with him with their first pick had we not selected him The doggies had Pickett ahead of Weightman as well. Hawthorn were another club that showed interest and were seriously considering him as they currently have an aging Paul Puopolo as their only small forward.

Dees on Brink of Another Trade Disaster
I think we all see this Wise. I think every club would love a Luke Jackson based on his raw potential. But right now we are losing games because our simple inability to hit targets going inside 50 and around. This has been a concern raised by many on here since mid 2018. My current concern is was Luke Jackson really what we needed at pick 3? And trust this is no way a blight on Jackson the footballer as I think he'll develop into a fine footballer. But I highlighted three players that should have been in our sight at that pick that fit the bill of improving the skill set of our side. Its such a glaring weakness, and yet Simon Goodwin and the recruiting staff I feel did not address this at all. let me just say I was happy we did select Jackson, but this was I suppose on the back what I thought would be an improved year and that our skills would be vastly improved. Jackson becoming a good forward is years away down the track. He was picked on glimpses that he showed at Colts level. Glimpse that never saw him kick more then 2 goals in any games. Maybe I am too impatient of wanting Jackson to come in and make an impact straight away. I look at Ash, Young and now Stephens who are all playing games of AFL and contributing already (Stephens is debuting this weekend ) and bit envious of them. Rivers and Pickett will be rippers btw.

Dees on Brink of Another Trade Disaster
The problem won't be whether we have a 1st round or not this year. The problem will be whether we selected the right type of player at pick 3. I am a Jackson fan and think he'll be a good solid player. I'm starting to question whether we made a mistake on not selecting players with quality kicking skills in Young, Stephens and Ash. Was an up and coming young ruckman that's going to take 5 years to develop really what we needed at pick 3? Regarding the Kozzie pick, this will turn out to be a steal. Don't underestimate how good this kid can be. Already reminds me of a mix of Eddie Betts/Charlie Cameron.

CHANGES: Rd 06 vs Gold Coast
Agree, He's showing up a lot of our more senior players with his defensive pressure. The likes of Melksham can hang his head in shame.

Its heading that way.

Weideman's Future?
Let's go one better and have a Nick Reiwoldt, Wayne Carey, Mathew Lloyd or a David Neitz come down and spend some time with Weideman.

Garry Lyon: "Melbourne Supporters are Gutted"
Premiership winning coach for the Giants reserves in the NEAFL and is currently works with their forwards as well. I know internally he was highly rated by Roos and was disappointed in losing him to the Giants. Very much respected within Giants circles and is doing a fine apprenticeship under Cameron so far. He'll never come back to his family, but he's someone that's doing a decent job up there.

CHANGES: Rd 06 vs Gold Coast
I remember Hunt was talked about as one of the best up and coming young half backs in the game. It's either defence or flop for Hunt.

Garry Lyon: "Melbourne Supporters are Gutted"
There is only 2 past people id happily have at the back and that's Adam Yze and Brad Miller.

Garry Lyon: "Melbourne Supporters are Gutted"
Lyon, Connelly, Stynes, Healey, Schwab, Viney. All at one stage were working within the club. We won't need to be reminded what that lead too. None of our former greats have never tasted success. Why bring in former players that have been part of the problem all these years. Never did I see Hawthorn or Brisbane in their golden era made up of people from within their club. They went out and recruited the best people they thought could influence the standards and culture of their club. Just go out and recruit the best person that fits the bill. Paul Roos and Peter Jackson were exactly that.

On the Couch - The Red Zone
This is taking the [censored] now. Goodwin was stubborn and arrogant is not willingly let Frost stay at the club. He put all his eggs in the Lever and May basket and that's now looking like a blunder and a half. Meanwhile we have 700k defender who doesn't even actually defend and rather skirt packs and point the finger at someone else for his own [censored] up (see On The Couch vision) One of the greatest coach in the modern era saw something in Frosty and took him on board. That says something and that's enough for me. I'll take Clarko's opinion on Frost over yours.

On the Couch - The Red Zone
Blame can't be solely on mids here mate. It's the same personal of midfielder's that were running around back in 2018.

On the Couch - The Red Zone
So looking at the Oppo Score per inside 50 stat we ranked 9th back in the competition with Frost and Omac as our main two key pillars down back. So realistically i look at that and go its not that bad actually. We then go all out and spend big on Steven May only to see us actually rated 3rd last in the competition for this year on the big of just letting Sam Frost. How does that even happen?

On the Couch - The Red Zone
I watched the whole lot. Everything they said was absolutely spot on. Some daming vision of Viney, Oliver Lever and Langdon. These are senior players who are suppose to be leading the way. Viney was the worse one out of that lot.
-
Jake Lever.. Can someone explain??
Saw some daming footage of Levers lazy effort on the weekend from On The Couch. Wowee, if you want to make a statement, then dropping this bloke would be my first option. It won't happen, but this bloke is a true definition of what Ox said today, and that just a bloke who only came to this club on a decent fat contract only.

CHANGES: Rd 06 vs Gold Coast
For a muscle bound wingman, he's incredibly soft. I'd be putting in the time into Oskar Baker instead.

How bad is this year?
He doesn't know what he's talking about. That's stock standard Olisik though.
-
Petracca's score involvements
He needs to come in for Melskahm. Melky is one of Goody's mates, so it'll most likely never happen.

Garry Lyon: "Melbourne Supporters are Gutted"
Garry and Tim did a bit of an analysis on the club this morning. Please listen to the link below everything they have said pretty much sums it up and are spot on. Garry did hit the nail on the head when he said that Melbourne supporters aren't frustrated, but more so just gutted now. Reading some of the comments on here, I get that same general feeling also. https://www.sen.com.au/news/2020/07/05/melbourne-supporters-gutted-by-teams-inability-to-kick-lyon/

Closer to the end
Thanks mate. All the best to you and your pregnant wife mate. Enjoy that special journey with her. Before you know it, your little bundle of joy is here! And you're right mate, can only focus on the positives. The great perspective I've had is my first born son who was born November last year. Having kids just changes your whole new outlook on life. Everything I do is now fully on him and my family.
