  1. Not at all RR. But I think it's well known now that it's between him and Young and Green to a degree. I genuinely bet we are still simmering over who to select with pick 3.
  2. I apologise that I brought this thread up. But this was the first pre season training session that we had the whole squad back in December 3rd 2018. Looking back we had an incredible 15 blokes in rehab. Compared to about 5 or 6 today? Also Steven May does look quite thick in some of the photos that were put in this thread. Compared to recent photos where he's looked really trimmed up now. Obvious that he's worked a lot harder on his fitness over the break.
  3. Fraser Phillips from Gippsland Power who trained with the Dees at the start of the year is someone I'd like to really consider if he is still there. Talented left footer who brings X factor and someone who I think is very underrated in this year's crop.
  4. He's coming to the club to start his career as a key forward. We have Weideman (still question marks over him) and McDonald as our two genuine key forwards. That's it. What happens if he has more success as a forward then being a ruckman?
  5. Jesus thats quite impressive from Bedford. Good see Vandenberg running along side the boys in the photo there.
  6. Doubt it, Tom Green would be right in their sights. He is behind Rowell and Anderson in terms of talent, if not equal.
  7. Exactly. The likes of Gould, Rivers and Sharp are all highly talented HBF's that can do just as a good job as of Young.
  8. Have to back and trust our system. For every Jesse Hogan, there is a Cale Hooker, Andrew Swallow, Harry Taylor, Alex Rance, Lance Franklin and Stephen Congilio who have all come from WA and yet most likely will finish their careers with their clubs without going back to their native state. Go home factor does not scare me.
  9. I don't think we split just to potentially target Kemp. We have a range of players that we are looking at pick 8, which Kemp is part of that list. As Jason Taylor said, you can't trade into a first a first round just to focus on that one particular player because at the end of the day they might not even be there at that pick. Swans are really looking hard at Kemp with pick 5 potentially if they bid on Green and GWS match the bid.
  10. The other reason why I think we are leaning towards Jackson with this pick is a half back flanker who use the footy fine are easy to find. Marty Hore, Luke Ryan, Zac Williams Tom Stewart are just a few gems who were all half back flanker that were picked late in the draft. A player in the caliber of Brodie Grundy and Max Gawn are very rare to find. It's no coincidence that the past 3 years these two have dominated All Australian selection. Grundy and Gawn are in their own league. Tim English will be right up there in about 2 years time. Bring in Luke Jackson means we are set for another 10 years in our ruck department and we can focus on other holes on our list for the next few years.
  11. Yes this happens in the AFL, all clubs do it.
  12. If the decision is between Young and Jackson whats exactly the rush? A lot can still change in 10 days. The recruiting team along with Goodwin and Matthew Egan will sit down over these next few days and have a few meetings over this and do more extensive back ground checks on both boys. They will also decide whether they do place the bid on Tom Green also? If they do then then that's Jackson and Young gone, and completely throws a spanner in the work in the 1st round, especially if GWS don't match the bid. Trust me, club hasn't made their decision as of yet.
  13. Because we are still 2 weeks away. Don't you think that is a bit extreme and silly to have made your decision when the player you may want at 8 might not even be there. I do know for a fact most clubs who are in the first round usually don't make their final decision until at least 48 hours until draft night.
  14. Unfortunately Viney isn't that either. Probably the two blokes who I have seen become really animated on field are Gawn and Lever. To me these two are the stand out leaders for me personally.
  15. Pick 3 is far too high for Henry.
  16. https://thewest.com.au/sport/afl-draft/promising-wa-ruckman-luke-jackson-likely-to-go-in-top-five-of-2019-afl-draft-as-melbourne-demons-circle-ahead-of-fremantle-dockers-ng-b881383902z
  17. He's a 200cm defender who came back as an overage and was told to work on his intercept marking and offensive attributes by AFL clubs as he is quite quick for his size, but wasn't using it as much as he should have out on the footy field. He'd be a good prospect for us because he can also swing into the ruck if need be but also take the big talls like McKay or Lynch who are around that 202cm marking forward. Good prototype defender. No not at all. Since draft camp, Melbourne are having multiple interview with prospects like Young, Jackson, Ash and Robertson. It's not like Ash is out of the ordinary. Club is just getting all their formation in check now and doing their due diligence with a few draft prospects. Again, Melbourne are YET to make a decision at 3 and 8. Just doing what all clubs do around this time and just chase up more information and background checks. You blokes are reading way too much into this.
  18. I'd rather Gawn take the title outright from Viney. But that's just me personally..
  19. Those MFC facebook groups are one of the worst online trash I have read. Those Mods are are useless. I was a part of few of them but i had to leave due to some vile and personal comments at our own players.
  20. Jeff Whites son Kalani is a name to keep an eye out soon. Is dominating junior footy up in QLD as a bottom ager. Already has some height for a 12 year old, but one to watch!
  21. Don't worry it's my new years resolution to not get so worked up. So in other words, stay off game day threads ?
  22. Good article on Petracca. Explosive Demon on the right 'Trac' to fulfilling lofty ambition
  23. Its the nature of the best. And I say thay because I have said some things in the heat of the moment with certain players. After cooling down I do feel bad because at the end of the day they are humans. Unfortunately it's like the racism issue, you can have all the awareness in the world, but it'll never change. Especially with social media evolving in a remarkable rate. As @jnrmac said, people can still make opinions regardless if you haven't played AFL. When it gets personal like the Liam Ryan one, then that's just going way out of line.
