  1. Just saw that Kysiaia Pickett is in Darwin. Anyone know why?
  2. Tipping him to go out the same way Bernie Vince did in his last year. Was cooked last year and at his age I can't see him getting any better.
  3. Jesus Petracca looks fat. ????
  4. What is the actual issue on Baker? Did he go in for some form of end of season surgery?
  5. Give it to Gawn outright.
  6. Well then we play Pruess......
  7. I would have rather Josh Walker to be honest. Only 26 years old and was playing some really impressive footy for Brissy at the start or this year then fell out. He is a Melbourne player now so I will support him. Welcome Mitch.
  8. Weid has packed on some serious muscle.
  9. What the flying [censored] did I just watch.
  10. Who are you talking about exactly? I am talking about Jackson not Weideman.
  11. Deakyn Smith is one to keep an eye on. Probably in the same boat as what Bedford was in his first at the Stingrays. So I expect Smith to push for Vic Country trials next year. 179cm who played across half back and wing in the 8 games he played this year. Clean and uses the ball well. Kobi George our other NGA prospect isn't much chop at all and I don't expect him to get drafted next year. Perhaps a late rookie if the club wants to put in a good development but highly doubt so.
  12. I don't think anyone on here has painted him as the messiah though old? We know he's coming with a fair bit of development to do. But as Jason Taylor has said, we shouldn't put a cap on him yet. I honestly think he'll play round 1 next year. He's development in the past 18 months has been at a rapid rate and I think now that he's in a full time environment under the guidance of Max Gawn, he'll develop quite significantly over the next few months. He's not like a Jack Watts who was just all bones and let's be honest he was quite soft from day dot. Jackson is aggressive and not afraid at all to get in and get his hands dirty. Gawn and Pruess pushing him around at training will only further this even more. I am predicting 10-12 games next year from Jackson playing mostly up forward.
  13. Does he? You do realise this is the same bloke that rated Josh Wagner a better player then James Harmes in his recent club assessment. Him playing the game is completely irrelevant Old.. Stephen Wells never played an AFL game in his life and he's regarded as one of the best talent spotters in the country. I'm sorry but the bloke is clueless and outdated.
  14. Your first mistake was taking anything Buckenara says serious. The guy is a drop kick. Go look at his highlights. His contested marking is one of his strengths.
  15. Luke Jackson has been given number 6 and Trent Rivers has been given 24.
  16. Found this on bigfooty. Pick 22. West Coast Eagles. Trent Rivers . 188cm 83 kg. Utility. East Fremantle. Get ready folks this kids an ascending player he is rising up draft boards at a rapid rate. Thrilled to get the contested ball beast with this pick. Came into the Championships with a bit of a flurry and I was given the "heads up" that he was rated very highly down at Moss Street. East Fremantle Football Club has been a production line for quality midfielders over the years. Patrick Cripps, Paul Haselby, Ben Cousins, Daniel Kerr, Simon Black to name but a few. So when I was told to "watch out" for him by East Fremantle connections...... it was duly noted. Rivers has shown versatility and been played in a variety of positions and whilst at the Championships he played off a half back flank and through the middle I see him projecting as an AFL midfielder. An old fashioned, footballers footballer, who thrives at the coal face, the kids a hard nut. His solid Championships gained him AA selection and as quite a few draft watchers have already noted, keep an eye on him as he goes back to the WAFL and completes the season. First week back in the Colts after the Championship he hasn't disappointed, this morning , with a 26 disposal game, 5 tackles and 3 goals. If he continues in this form in the Colts, I can see his being given a debut in the Seniors very quickly. Bill Monaghan, the League Coach, has never been shy giving young kids a run at the highest WAFL level and I will be watching for this to happen with Rivers. He may well be playing himself into first round draft calculations. When considering who to select here, I was impressed with just who was still available as : Mead ( who will be Port bound as a F/S pick so I left him ), Trent Bianco one of this cohorts best users of the ball by hand and foot, the AA CHB Fisher McAsey, and Dylan Williams were available and considered. In the end I just couldn't pass on Trent Rivers, a home grown talent, who fills a need for West Coast as quality midfield depth is short at the Club.
  17. They start next monday
  18. Great report mate. How did the likes of Bedford, Chandler and Jordon go?
  19. People are forgetting that we have Mitch Brown who is about to start training with us. A 196cm tall forward with a mature body and experience will help also. Weideman, McDonald, Brown, Jackson and Petty are goos handy talls. (Goodwin confirmed on sen that he will be training with the forwards over the summer)
  20. Mick Ablett
  21. From Mick Ablett. Trent Rivers, I’d like to mention, is one of the most elite kicks in the draft. He’ll be a half back for a little while, but I think he can also fit into the midfield at some stage.
  22. MELBOURNE Players drafted: Luke Jackson (3), Kysaiah Kropinyeri-Pickett (12), Trent Rivers (32) Mick’s take: Luke Jackson, fantastic. He was worth Pick 3 every day of the week. I know there was debate around the ruckman … I think Luke’s going to be an outstanding player. He’s your modern day Nic Naitanui-type. Obviously Kozzy Kropinyeri-Pickett … they moved up, Melbourne, to acquire him. They wanted him, they’ve got him through the door, that elusive small forward. Trent Rivers, I’d like to mention, is one of the most elite kicks in the draft. He’ll be a half back for a little while, but I think he can also fit into the midfield at some stage.
