Agree about McClure and we have seen so many times how blatantly wrong he is over the journey. I honestly dont mind the bigger contracts, I suppose in a way it gives that club leverage in case they do request a trade eg Carlton with Curnow, Melbourne with Petracca... I think with TPP going up again these longer contracts will just end up being the norm in think. Wouldn't be surprised if we start to see 9 years deals somewhere along the way. I do agree with you as well i that I think 5 years is a good enough starting point with the trigger for a six. I know he broke up with his partner Soph in early 2022 but going off what Goodwin and Pert said, his off field behaviour was still an issue when he signed his long term deal.

You're missing my point once again. I have zero issues with long term contracts. But why give a dude thats completely off the rails a 7 year contract 🤣 literally setting him up to fail not succeed. Honestly, give him a 3 year deal if you have too with some behavioural clauses included. Petracca deserved his because not only did he live up to the expectations and perform but he has been an absolute professional all the way to the end as we speak. I hate the thought of losing him but have accepted that its probably best for both parties.

Absolutely he was, but that wasn't my point. His off field antics were causing the club issues back then so then offering a 7 year deal on top of that isnt the smartest thing this club has done. I was all for the Petracca long term contract and even with Kozzies this year, and even if Petracca does leave then I still have no issues with his contract status.. but how the club felt fit to offer Oliver a monster contract on top of his off field behaviour is just mind blowing really.

Oliver's off field issues was fairly present at the time of when he signed his contract back in 2022. This has been confirmed by Goodwin and Pert.

Well Tim Lamb isnt going to come out so early on the trade period and confirm how much we will play. In fact, he was asked that particular question and refused to answer which says to me that if traded we will indeed pay some portion of his salary.
