  1. They still may bring in JVR for Gawn and keep McDonald as the 2nd ruckman.
  2. Yeah Jefferson was really impressive. Must admit I was worried when we picked him up in the draft as I didn't know if his frame could stand up to the rigours of AFL footy. But after yesterday, I was blown away by some of his contested marking against the bigger bodies. His stats read as kicking 0.5, so the fact he's putting himself in a position to score will hold him in good stead moving forward.
  3. Jordon would be my pick also. JVR was crashing picks yesterday and his follow up work at ground level is far superior to Tmac.
  4. Kye Turner was the big surprise for me. Haven't not seen him play before he was impressive giving drive and dash off half back. He certainly drills the footy low and flat as well. Keeps his form up and he could potentially debut this year.
  5. If you go back to my post last week before the round 1 game you'll find that I mentioned that Melksham is a smart option for the sub purely because he has the ability to kick quick goals. He came on 5 minutes into the first quarter and had absolutely zero impact on the game. Not sure why you're bringing the whole "he replaced Max" , because he didn't? Grundy replaced Max. Its not like he came in to replace the actual position. That's not the way the sub should be judged on. After watching Casey yesterday it's reassured to me that it's time we start focusing on the likes of Laurie, JVR, Jordon and even AMW (who was pretty impressive) as options moving forward.
  6. Just play JVR.. seriously, he's done his time and deserves reward ahead of the likes of Melksham.
  7. Don't know, but his marking was elite today. Not entirely sure mate.
  8. That was a fun game to watch. Youngsters really showed their worth. Geez Jefferson can certainly take a good strong clunk. 7 marks and kicked 0.4. Still needs a bit of work but the talent is certainly there. It's a pity poor old Schache copped a knee to the head because on today's form he was absolutely in line to replace Max. JVR didn't do his chance any harm. Just play the kid and get some games and experience into him now. AMW, Howes and Kye Turner were all very impressive as well. Turner certainly provides drive off half back and AMW has a crack. Seston is an unfinished product. Definitely needs to work on his tank and consistency throughout games, but when he does look out. The kid can play.
  9. Fingers crossed Schache didn't go off with concussion..
  10. Seston and Jefferson really impressed me that quarter. Luke Dunstan has to be under serious consideration for next week surely??
  11. Jordon completely dominating in the midfield. Direct replacement for Harmes thanks. Hibbo still got it. You'd think he'd come in for McVee who I actually thought battled well. Another senior head down back won't hurt. Schache the dominant forward so far. Has already taken 5 marks in the first half and unlucky not to have a couple of goals on board. Special mention to Bailey Laurie. Looks complete different player to what he was last year. Class, poise and distributing well.
  12. Blake Howes has been impressive and Kye Turner giving a lot of drive off half back.
  13. Jeez Seston has had a purple patch. Took a strong contested mark and just missed only to then intercept the kick in and hit Laurie up. Big lad. James Jordon impressive in the midfield so far. So clean.
  14. Schache already with strong contested mark and shot on goal but pushes it right.
  15. My gut feel is it's a meniscus.
  16. If it's an ACL then no point just being down in the dumps. Yep, would be super disappointing but team has to move on. Still confident we can finish top 4 even if Max misses significant time. We've still got the cattle to perform at a real high level. Just remember Richmond lost a 5x All Australian full back in Alex Rance to an ACL round 1 against Carlton in 2019 and they went on to become premiers that same year. What I will say though is that it's time to for Brodie Grundy to stamp himself again. Taking 1 mark in total over 2 games is not a good return so far. Still looked sluggish last night but he's still building his game and fitness.
  17. Not entirely sure that's correct. He went and met with Scott and Mahoney and when Melbourne got wind of it then we put a complete stop to any potential trade. I believe Harmes was more then open for a trade more so to get midfield minutes. Hence why met them for an interview. He's had 2 games in a row playing significant midfield time and he's been poor on both occasions. This form has carried on from last year when he was dropped and made sub towards back end of the year. If the likes of Jordon and Dunstan have standout games in the VFL today then his position in the team has to come under scrutiny.
  18. Named co-captain for Oakleigh Chargers this year.
  19. Noah has been named for his debut for the Oakleigh Chargers this Sunday against Brisbane Lions Academy. Game is played at Highgate Recreation Reserve in Craigieburn Starting at full forward.
  20. Thought Viney being in the middle really just made us look slow and flat footed along with Harmes. When Pickett is back I'd like to see Viney spending more time at half forward.
  21. On a positive note. Benny Brown is equal leader of the Coleman Medal.
  22. Brayshaw, Viney and Langdon were extremely poor tonight. Lost count the amount of times Viney and Brayshaw just completely coughed it up so easily.
  23. Pickett is a 2-3 goals difference to our team. May stops about 3-4 goals a game. Gawn simply refuses to let us get smashed around clearances. They still absolutely would have made a huge difference.
  24. I don't get it. How on earth do we have a 2x All Australian ruckman surrounded by star midfielders only to get smashed in the centre clearances? God even Ashcroft was bulling the likes of Oliver ans Harmes. So hard to watch.
