2024 Injury List
Look, I have a huge soft spot for Benny B and love the way he conducts himself off field especially with his work within the community (nominated for Jim Stynes award). From an on field perspective, I wish he retired on his own terms last year and I know that there was certainly talk between the club and his management. I get that he is contracted for another year, but I'm sure the club and Brown would have come up with an agreement on a settlement deal for a payout on his last contract (very common in today's AFL caper). I'm just amazed Brown did not see the writing on the wall with his body constantly breaking down due to his knees. It was a sad sight in his last game against the Crows last year where he hobbled around like a guy with a 60 year body who could barely bend over and pick up the footy. He was getting the bronx cheers all day until he got subbed off. I thought by then that was the last we'd had seen from him. I have now lost count the amount of knee surgeries he has had since he has been at the footy club. Not only that, he hasn't played a full AFL season since 2019 which was 5 years ago.. I just wondered whether had he retired, that would have given us a great opportunity to use that list spot on another developing tall forward or another developing/mature ruck. Right now, I would have been happy having a young key tall developing away at Casey playing games and gaining some quality experience then a guy that's going to be on the injury list for probably half the year. I also understand that there is the off field perspective in helping out, but we honestly have enough senior heads in that position to do that lead by Greg Stafford and then followed by the likes of Melksham, Petty, McDonald, Gawn, Lever who would be providing just as much support as what Brown would. Wishing him all the best in his recovery and at least he goes down as a 2021 premiership hero and life member of the footy club.

Of course Drysdale Demon has to face palm a comment that's clearly a sarcastic response.. just another day where anything and everything offends this fella. Can't wait for the reports @Bleasey as that @Gawndy the Great , us folks certainly appreciate the time and effort, especially making the trek out to Casey.

Hey @Six6Six, great work on the photos. Just wondering, the videos play up every now and then and will randomly stop. Anyway we can view them just as a gallery itself instead of a video slideshow?

Thanks for the report @picket fence.. certainly appreciated for the likes of myself who live in a different state and can't attend. I'm interested around your comment with Josh Schache? Does he playing the roaming CHF role using his high endurance levels or is he poaitioned as as the stay at home forward? Then obviously playing as the 2nd ruck role as well which we'll need for Max. Also, how was Ollie Sestan during that session?- 2024 Preseason Training Thread
For a club that is an absolute rabble on field, they've got this media stuff down pat compared to a team that's finished top 4 three years in a row and with 70k fan base.. Thought I'd do a random stop by and see if other clubs were doing similar to North. First one I checked out was Freo and this is what they had up on their website. Well worth a look @12345_54321 https://www.fremantlefc.com.au/news/1482129/three-things-we-saw-wing-spot-heating-up It's no doubt we really are the bottom of the barrel when it comes to this stuff.- PRESEASON TRAINING: Monday 22nd January 2024

Is this based on your training observations?- 2024 Preseason Training Thread
"You've once again made a mountain out of a molehill" The hypocrisy is real here. Bizarrely rambling about something thats completely off topic. Without wanting to derail further and I'll leave it at this. Please pin point me to that discussion where I solely blame the coaches for missing goals and we can discuss further. I would like to think I'm also outlining a number of factors why we've lost games and that's purely players and coaches taking responsibility and ownership for that. Macca, after all that, this might come as a surprise to you but I like your content and what you add on here. I don't mind having the strong robust footy discussions and look forward to having more of this in 2024. Go Dees.- 2024 Preseason Training Thread
No it made complete sense. But my response was to you stating that every week Petracca would be clocking up 15kms every week which going off the AFL tracker he actually doesn't nor did he hit the 15km mark. So not only were you way off, it wouldnt have hurt you to do your research first. My whole point is was highling Petracca strengths which just shows that whilst Petracca isn't a gut runner which we don't need him to be, his ability to read the game and position himself in good spots to win the footy around stoppages is elite. Also taking into account his mental strength in pushing through to contests and being the big game that he is. In regards to your last paragraph, please enlighten me what on earth does that actually has to do with this topic? Just because you're getting sour doesnt mean you start randomly nit picking to suit your narrative. That would be like me saying lets pull out all the ridiculous tripe you've spewed over the journey as well, which would be silly because it has absolutely nothing to do with the topic. And if so, can you please pin point me to my exact comment you highlighted? I actually think you've got me mixed up with someone else but happy to explore.- 2024 Preseason Training Thread
So in other words.. you do agree with me in my initial response to you? About as reputable as the daily mail.- 2024 Preseason Training Thread
This you're actually missing my point.. which is, he's not there to rack up big kms in games, as he makes up for it with what I've already explained about 4 posts above. His impact on games and his individual accolades speaks enough for itself.- Ben Brown - third forward & back-up ruck
No.- 2024 Preseason Training Thread
Okay.. I'll spell it out to you. He didn't top 14 or even 13.. thats an actual fact through the AFL tracker. Hence why I said he's probably averaging roughly around the 10-12 because that's the part where I made my guess.- 2024 Preseason Training Thread
But he didn't though.. and not sure where on earth you're pulling numbers randomly that players have exceeding 20kms a game? No one has ever topped covered 20kms a game. On the Petracca one, Langdon, Hunter and Alex Neale Bullen were our top 3 players who racked up top km's for 2023. Langdon was averaging up around the 16km mark and both Hunter and ANB were roughly averaging 15kms per game. As a matter of fact, Petracca did not once finish top 5 in any games last year for kms covered in games.. Even the likes of Petty, Lever and Bowey were all able to finish top 5 in games for most distance covered. Fact was, not once did Petracca ever clock up 14 or 15kms a game at all again last year. My guess is that he roughly averaged around the 10-12 kms covered per game. This may come as a surprise to some of you but he simply isn't an endurance beast as some of you are making out and never was.. You'll never see him up at the top end of the time trails nor will he be pegged in the fitter group of runners. It's his ability to read the game and knowing where to be positioned to win the ball is what makes him the player he is now. His game sense being at the right spot at the right time in big games is all we need and hence why he's makes up for it for his lack of endurance. That's what's so freakish about Petracca is that whilst He'll never clock up big numbers in distance covered, he makes up for it by running to the right spots and positioning well around stoppages. In the AFL environment, if you have an average endurance base then you quickly need to have a second set of tools to have to make up for the perceived "lack of tank" otherwise you're no good to the team unfortunately. - PRESEASON TRAINING: Monday 22nd January 2024
