  1. Thought of you straight away when I was writing up in this thread. I knew you'd be stoked. Also, great insight into the AFLW NGA, I'm glad it's the same with the women's program as it is with the men's. I remember watching that Andrew Dillion with Cal and Riley and that was the first time it pricked my ears up. I'm glad to hear now that they've taken into consideration and will revert back to the old NGA system so clubs have full access now to these kids that come through their system.
  2. Ok. It is what it is. Try and look at the positives in this moving forward.
  3. And how can you not be happy about this! That's why some have just completely missed the point on why they're reverting back to the original idea of it all. There's a bigger picture in this which the AFL have clearly admitted they got this wrong from the start hence why they changing it back to how it was. Hopefully now this means we see an increase in indigenous talent coming through, it's what the game needs.
  4. To further explain why its good that clubs will hopefully be rewarded including Melbourne, is that they're getting kids in at around 10-12 years of age into their NGA program and that's where the education and development starts. They're putting in a mountain of work and resources in making sure they're setting these young kids up to be the best possible footballers they can be whether they make it into the system or not. It's amazing now what they're exposed too in the elite environment and I think this is a credit to footy clubs in putting in the time and development into these junior kids. From then on, I'm a big believer that these same clubs should absolutely have the right to have first access to these kids if deemed talented enough to be in the mix. The Mac Andrew situation left a completely sour taste in my mouth because I know they started with him around 12 or 13 years of age and exposed him to all our resources and junior development porgram only to then change the rules last minute which [censored] us over. It was a completely reactive decision from the AFL and I know Jason Taylor was absolutely filthy at this.
  5. No.. It's giving clubs the right to actually be rewarded for the hard work and resources that they're putting into these development programs such as the NGA development system. I've seen it first hand with what Richmond have done up here in the regional areas near Victoria. We literally lost Mac Andrew because of this. Now we've got the chance to actually be rewarded if things fall into place. The changes after the Jamarra situation was a reactive decision which ruined clubs development system that they had in place. Look at the bigger picture.
  6. Maybe I'm the only one that is happy with this move? Why? There's a genuine NGA prospect for the Dees next years draft by the name of Tarion Ah-Mu from the Dandenong Stringrays who is eligible for next year's draft. He's a 198cm imposing lad who plays as a genuine power forward and can pinch hit in the ruck. He plays with physicality and reminds me a little of Tom Hawkins from the bits of vision I've seen of him. He's played 6 Coates League game and has kicked 12 goals already. He's also dominating school footy all whilst still being an under-age prospect. If he keep his development up, he could easily become a top 20 draft prospect which would mean we would be able to match the bid.
  7. Don't mind the Ladhams and Kearne option personally.
  8. Did Tarranto get concussed from the Bedford tackle?
  9. Can't be saying that around here...You'll trigger a few. But you're 100% spot. As @DeeSpenceralready mentioned It's the constant fumbling under pressure and inability to get thr basic fundamentals right is what killing us on turnovers. I d like the coaches to give Bailey Laurie a decent amount of game time in the same role that Sparrow is playing just to see whether he can translate his strong VFL form into AFL gives us a different look. His so clean with his hands and a upgrade in terms of ball use. But we know Sparrow will never be dropped so just have to put up with it for now until we can get some more midfield talent next year.
  10. Who said he's going anyway? No one did.. 🤣 We're fully aware he's not getting dropped and that wasn't even the main discussion point. Not surprised that a few of you have just entirely missed the point.
  11. They already call him silk at the footy club after Burgoyne. Fitting nickname..
  12. Considering he got the Sparrow part blatantly wrong it would be my favourite post as well.
  13. McGrath was trying to tag Pickett you plonker. First bounce and McGrath is trying to put an arm across Pickett to stay with him when Pickett was moving around the inside 50 stoppage. This was clearly a tagging tactic by Scott, he plays on the dangerous forwards each week and it makes absolute sense why McGrath tried to tag Pickett.. You also didn't watch the game on Saturday night otherwise you would have switched onto this straight away. Looks like its you that needs a education starting from auskick level.
  14. Watched majority of the replay of Case game. Fullarton got absolutely bullied in the ruck Nick Bryan who is pretty much similarsize in terms of physical appearance.. he played majority of ruck where Verrall played up forward and yet Verrall still got more hit out. There is no way Fullarton comes into the senior side anytime soon now. I've said it before but he's more of a 200cm forward flanker who's got okay around level. Just on Noah Yze, thought it was pretty [censored] poor look by Jack Billings who completely failed to acknowledge Noah after he set him up with a running goal. Not once did he actually go over and acknowledge or give him a high 5. Walked off and acknowledge others instead. Would be happy not see him in red and blue for the rest of the year.
  15. What are you saying exactly? I'd be happy to call for his head now, but clearly we don't have the talent and depth to either overtake him or play whatever role he is actually playing better.
  16. I"m sorry but i disagree about Sparrow. For instance he had zero centre bounce attendances, yet in a wet where the match was based on a contested style game through high number of tackling and hard congestions, he only laid 2 tackles, had 4 contested possessions and yet in your eyes that's playing brutal defensive mid? Nah I don't see that at all.. I absolutely know Sparrow won't ever be dropped, so I don't bother bringing him up as an option to be omitted, but you can't even say that he plays a brutal defensive mid role when he in fact, he didn't even play as a midfielder last night. All his midfield key stats are all rated either average or below average. That's including contested possessions, tackles, stoppage and total clearences etc.
  17. I recall many did the exact same on after our GF win in 2021..
  18. Kingy is one of the good ones going around. Respect to him for owning up, something you'll rarely see from other journo's or 'expert' media commentators. Can't say I disagree with the whole "NFI" term. Again, unlike like many others going around at least he tries to back up his arguments with stats and champion data which I think provides valuable insight for fans on how teams are operating throughout the way. He brings a lot of great content on the Monday means test with Gerard Whately on SEN, as well as on First Crack on Fox Footy. You may think he has "NFI" but whilst it's easy to cherry pick the ones he gets wrong which I have also, he also gets them right also. As an example, he was 100% spot on with this one which he stated back in August 2021. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.foxsports.com.au/afl/teams/melbourne-demons/afl-news-2021-david-king-says-melbourne-demons-are-dominant-flag-favourite-first-crack-without-the-ball-stats-premiership-odds-favourites-contenders/news-story/06eb88ea8b4996a6764f846d16fef036
  19. Photo sums up a 19 year old kid just living out his dream as an AFL footballer.
