Could be a bit wet and windy on Sunday so not ideal conditions for tall forwards. If the Blues go in too big we should be able to cut them up on the rebound.
-
Hmmmm, Hogan didn't train today, hopefully he is ok for Sunday
-
Watched the replay last night, the kid's an absolute freak, he does things with his hands I'm not even sure Sam Mitchell could pull off! I can see why some experts say he will be better than Petracca or Hogan - nice argument to have at our club
-
Ah I see what you're saying....I think the difference is Dom has had 3 full games (1 JLT, 2 with Casey) so he should be ready to go
-
Didn't we beat Collingwood the week after?
-
Probably a good week to get Carlton (not that we can afford to take them lightly)....Lewis and Jones can play more of Bernies set up role across half back if Tyson comes in to bolster the midfield
-
Nearly the angriest I have been at the footy in recent memory (with the game against Essendon and previous year's loss to Carlton a close second)... Let's hope the boys have learnt from it
-
We're going to have a ridiculous amount of ball winning power if Tyson comes in but it's a question of balance - can we play that many midfielders in the one side?
-
His game yesterday was off the charts, absolutely unstoppable
-
Spot on: if we don't consolidate against a team at the beginning of a rebuild then our great round 1 win is wasted to a large degree....a good side would get the job done whether they are at their absolute best or not, so a good challenge.

Vince shouldn't get anything for that love tap...Membrey typical tattooed wanna be tough guy: actually soft as butter

THE DROUGHT IS OVER by George on the Outer - POST MATCH DISCUSSION
sisso replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Finally got home from the match, what a feeling! The boys played amazingly well after qtr time, where did we find a beast like Maximus!? Did his back, went off for treatment and came back to deliver the mother of all hidings to Hickey....so bad I almost felt embarrassed for him! -
We've gone with a quick team with a lot of excitement and X factor - Goodwin wants to attack the game hard obviously. St Kilda's side looks solid but they have are a lot of B-C graders and they look kind of pedestrian to me (Ross, Armitage, Brown, Gilbert, Savage). On paper we maybe look a bit light on for experience, so our most naturally talented players like Hogan, Gawn, Watts and Petracca need to fire and then we are in with a serious chance.
-
I thought Kent looked pretty sharp in the VFL but he must need another game....good luck to Mitch and Joel!
-
Rumours St Kilda have another player out with injury too...,guess we'll find out soon
-
Its nearly impossible to have everyone available for a given match, even St Kilda who have a much shorter injury list than ours have Leigh Montagna and Koby Stevens out of their best side. The old adage that you're only as good as your replacements rings true, we need to get to a point where the depth of the squad can cover a "normal" amount of unavailable players. This game is a great test of that.

I was at the game Sunday and his intensity looked ok but he turned the ball over a lot - some of his kicks were very poor. Unusual for a player who is generally the best user of the ball in the side.
-
Watts had a lot of gametime in 31 degree heat on Sunday - maybe on light duties only?
-
I'm really looking forward to the tactical battle and seeing what Goodwin has up his sleeve: I'm sure he hasn't shown everything in pre-season.
-
I recall we flogged the Eagles there in one of the first ever games in 2000 with Farmer and White dominating....hope it is similar then!
-
There's really no such thing as one on one defence anymore, its all about zoning, "team" defence etc....the Eagles lost a huge chunk of their backline through injury at the start of the 2015 season and ending up playing off the in GF largely due to the "Weagles Web" (stupid name). Similarly the Bulldogs are very hard to score against without having any big name key backs at all. I don't think having Garland and Frost/Wagner out is really going to be the difference between us beating St Kilda or not, its about how well we defend the transition at Etihad, implement the zone and most importantly consistently hit targets so we don't get killed on the rebound.
-
Etihad is a knee/leg destroyer at the best of times...there always seems to be more injuries there Scary.
-
If the Dogs can win a flag with Joel Hamling and Fletcher Roberts as key backs surely we can devise something to get us through until reinforcement are ready to come back!
-
Brown is nothing special the Pies let him go in a similar way we didn't make much effort to keep Dunn (ironically they then picked Dunn up)
-
Horrible for any player to do an ACL, going to be very tough for him to continue his career too...
