  1. That's brilliant, Radar! What research! A podium all to yourself! And thanks for playing 🙂 Speaking of podiums, though, @La Dee-vina Comedia got my intended famous one. Congrats! 'Twas...
  2. 🥺 for you. But you played, so 👏 Just remembered the '...one of the famous did have a notable football presence!...' bit ('the famous' now solved/revealed as PMs). Anyone care to guess who, and what?
  3. Next time, then, Layz? 'Everyone' might have over-implied its penetration! And good time?. Hmmm... 😄 Off 'on the road' now. Next puzzle in August. I'm thinking personal invitations, to get the two-dozen-plus 'regulars' out of the woodwork 🎣
  4. With this quiz pretty much wrapped up, the topic starting, posting, searching and messaging involved has again reminded how impressive this site is. Thank you, @Demonland!
  5. A pretty big 'Ooops!' from me: my 'coach' has, in fact, played 16 games. Thank you, @tilly18, for pointing this out, in PM-ing your correct answer. I hope you don't mind, @La Dee-vina Comedia, if I pop Tilly next to you on the first place area for this. I can only think the bio I read was from 2022. So it's not just any 16 games: they've been very recent and my coach is a Premiership Player! 🤦🏽‍♂️ So, my grovelling apologies to... ...HER!
  6. ...and rightly so! 👏👏👏 Last in to the quiz, LDVC is first with this particular 'first'. There's a big second area in the podium ready to acknowledge anyone else.
  7. Ah. But the prime ministerial connection?
  8. Well, that's weird: I wrote, and could swear I posted, an acknowledgement of your Alex Carey guess (noting it had confounded me!) and @La Dee-vina Comedia's and @tilly18's Deakyn Smith guess - all wrong btw. The 'ghost post' also welcomed LDVC to this supp. quiz. Alfred Deakin is before the 1923-2023 century. What's your Alex Carey connection?
  9. ...And does anyone know who this was, and in what way?
  10. Meanwhile, who didn't miss this from the OP?... 'As usual, please make sure your answers are PMs!' I was also chuffed that HAROLD Stanley ended up in the SUB, fulfilling a famous conspiracy theory before that concept was supercharged by the internet! And Lew Gough (or one of the Edwards) would have tried to avoid the forward pocket this time round!
  11. So... As our four place getters have identified, the squad provides the first names of Australia's 26 Prime Ministers since 10 July 1923, including Robert/'Bob' Menzies' and Kevin Rudd's double dips, and a 'Billy' for dear old Mr McMahon. As there were no Earles for Mr Page, or Goughs (though several Edwards) for E.G. Whitlam, surnames of the emergencies filled those gaps. That leaves the coach. @poita, @tilly18, @WalkingCivilWar, @Demonstone, @mo64, @Jumping Jack Clennett, and anyone else, care to guess who that is, from the OP?
  12. Posted by our successful fourth-placer! Though so as not to usurp Malcolm Kennedy's squad-high 17 games, I'd bring in 3-gamer Edward Buckley.
  13. New day, new clue (no new entrants...) This ought to do it for you, @Demonstone and @Jumping Jack Clennett: The slightly-differently-qualifying second emergency is Lew GOUGH.
  14. But is Brodie's puppy?
  15. 'Show Me The Puppy' thread, Layz?
  16. Footy Classified tonight. Shut UP!
  17. MBJMcV! I think his 'then-to-now' arc bears comparison with Clayton Oliver's draft-year-to-first-year arc. And aren't a lot (most? all?) of our players, like Judd, so watchable?!
  18. Happy to post to keep the thread 'northwards' @WalkingCivilWar, by posting my apologies: we'll be on the road northwards ourselves, into NSW by that time. Best wishes for a successful (and deservedly lucrative for the DA) event!
  19. I guess not exactly... Availability may again compromise the highest (sic) team's choice? Re H&A games, many Dees fans will be happy that 2 'home' games are in Melbourne(ish) Not this SW Gippslander, though! 🥺 On the other hand, 2 more games' worth of experience at Princes Park - already a happy-ish hunting ground - might be handy come choosing a GF venue (thinking positive!😉) - particularly if against an interstate team. This for a Dees-fans-filled-big(ger)-crowd atmosphere, better than Casey (I acknowledge grudgingly...)
  20. I thought everybody had forgotten, and I was also a bit crestfallen that I hadn't attracted many of the 'regulars'. Maybe your post will give it a second wind? And sorry, @Jumping Jack Clennett; I've only seen your posts just now. So no reveal just yet, but something further to go on meanwhile. Referring to the OP, the slightly-differently-qualifying first emergency is Bill EARLE.
  21. You picked it, DM! I'll tell you what is demeaning, Barrett, to Brodie and to the club, is your ignorance - or, worse, dismissal - of the clearly outlined communication between, clarity for, willingness of, and agreement from, both parties in the matter. 😠 https://www.msn.com/en-au/sport/other/dees-questioned-over-demeaning-grundy-call/ar-AA1dVdHg?ocid=mailsignout&pc=U591&cvid=2c4faf16e3fd4a4ab3bf940bfa274451&ei=39
  22. The best I can find in the 2022 financial report is '$2.2M in membership and fundraising income...'. For 2022's 66k members ( 👏 for 2023 now, then! 😃 ) that's an average of about an 'armchair' membership ($60-ish) per member, if, say, half the $2.2M was membership. It would be $33 per membership if the $2.2M were all membership.
  23. And now @WalkingCivilWar has hobbled into 3rd place. Congrats, Rough Diamond! Keep going puzzlers; there's places for everyone!
  24. In an impressive display of persistence, @tilly18 has tortoised into 2nd place. A diamond in the rough!
