  1. Looks like I'll have to do postgrad in the Demonstone School of Hinting!😄 Three mentions of COACH, including in the title, didn't do it for you? They all share surnames with one of the 170-odd people who have coached VFL/AFL teams. Even Norm himself, whose brother and 3 other Smiths coached. Maybe people aren't used to us having our answers so 'close to home' i.e. actually footy related?!🤷‍♂️ Somewhat of a hint was my correction of my misspelling, Don-like (Don-lyke?), of Martin Pike, who, when I realised, I had to drop for not following the team rule! Then there was Ben Brown. You'd think the Browns would match the Smiths but there has been only one - Vic Brown, who coached University (where I had BBB 'straight out of') to a doughnuts season in 1913.
  2. Not dumb, just not warped enough! You're searching for 3 'classical' names. A hint: their letters total 19.
  3. Congrats, Mr D, and received and acknowledged! I thought my 'why so shy' showed that I knew that you knew that... And very considerate, though I'm not sure everyone is having 'obvious' spring to mind!😉
  4. Is that 'Well on the way' or 'Well, on the way'? 😉
  5. And, why so shy, @Demonstone and @Mazer Rackham? 😉
  6. Ah, yes, and witch places would appear if Byrnes was replaced by Bourke!
  7. ...and the words are names - classically, for @Monbon
  8. It's a word find (well 3 words actually!) DD!😀
  9. *rubs hands in anticipation*
  10. It's the red that unleashes these in the first place, FD. You might reach enlightenment yet?
  11. 👂🏽🪱 Thanks for nothing.
  12. You tease! So I can't understand why you haven't got my Smith team yet. Or have I missed something?
  13. @Monbon has PM-ed me an answer which, though not my correct answer, wins the Perpetual Prize for Most Amazing, Arcane, Academic and Attention-to-detail Alternative Answer. I suspect such an effort will never be matched. As to my correct answer, remember it is made to order not only for Monbon but also for @DubDee. I'm thinking the latter might be more at my level of Google-able knowledge than Professor Monbon's knowledge level 😄
  14. I'd say they all would have had one, Mr D, but no. Now, no further coaching, for the time being...
  15. Calling @DubDee and @Monbon, in case you missed this new thread 😁
  16. ... a classic starting 18, and their coach, prepared to order: B: C. Salem O. McDonald R. Bail HB: E. Langdon L. Dunn L. Tapscott C: I. Weetra C. Oliver A. Neal-Bullen HF: S. Byrnes A. vandenBerg L. Jurrah F: S. Weideman P. Johnson R. Petterd Foll: E. Spalding V. Michie I. Ridley Coach: N. Smith (How many days now till actual footy???🥴)
  17. Good remembering @WalkingCivilWar. I'd hope PD would faithfully report that my PM-ing showed I didn't recall it, but, 'post-race', I do realise I felt a nag-ging feeling when it finally came to me... As I did when selecting my Norm Smith coached team. Though that has seemed to prove to be not the case!
  18. Welcome to the 'Annoyers Club', PD! You're allowed to set up your own thread (though I'm sure @Demonstone is flattered!) Meanwhile, 🤔
  19. Twenty-seven?! How can that be?? Too soon!!! May have to downgrade my expectations for this cohort regarding Carlton's and Essendon's premiership tallies, from 'Surpass' to 'Reach'.
  20. Surely not! Who might one coach be simpatico with? And why would Martin Pike not be following team rules, though it sounded like he might? And why would Ben Brown be straight out of 'Uni'? (that one might require a bit of research😉)
  21. Careful what you wish for, guys. I shall rise to this challenge! Mwahahaha!...
  22. Doesn't feel like there's many in 'us all', Mr D! Still, for you at least, I point back to the title and that our Norm and his team would be simpatico. I suspect you'll get it now, and feel free to post it directly here for due plaudits. I'm not getting a vibe of any competition!
  23. While we're imagining BBO's persona, it would be very Victorian/Edwardian to also imagine for him a nemesis, Moriarty-like, and who of the Demonland cohort might suit the role. And, BBO, who would be your Doctor John Watson? The idle musings of someone browsing too long into the night...
  24. Stay away from the punch...
