  1. Thanks for the Laughs, @Wilson7 and @Jeremy. I was actually sort of serious, just from the way he moves on the footy field. But @dazzledavey36's response reminds us all (you were with me, @DeeZone, with your Like?!) of the stark difference. So the Laughs were well warranted!๐Ÿ˜„Lever really was some get, eh? We can only hope Howes provides as much 'Lever' as possible - perhaps now a little delayed - in the coming years.
  2. While we await the start of training, this has just popped up on the Club's website. It's sort of relevant, inasmuch as it's an indicator of some of things that training creates, as they manifested in 2024. Maybe some surprises herein; some discussion may result, too! https://www.melbournefc.com.au/news/1686412/gps-numbers-revealed-fittest-and-fastest-demons (p.s. The cynic in me raises its 'Why now?' eyebrow at the timing of this 'feel good' story!)
  3. I posted this over on the Hawks game thread. Curious, the reference to (optimism about?) 'next week'!๐Ÿ˜„ Anyway, it also confirms most of the unavailables for Saturday. https://www.melbournefc.com.au/news/1686096/injury-report-skipper-to-test
  4. There must be some quiet optimism. See how many times 'next week' is mentioned here: https://www.melbournefc.com.au/news/1686096/injury-report-skipper-to-test
  5. How does he compare with Lever at just 21? Fairly well, I suspect?
  6. Will there be a corresponding resurrection-riding thread on here? ๐Ÿ˜ฌ
  7. There's a bit of discussion on these boards about the importance or otherwise of 'one grab'. Langford could have it as his nickname.
  8. Thank you, all posters here. Doesn't he seem to have been here forever? Very happy for a bit more forevering.
  9. @Katrina Dee Fan has shown exceptional reporting form with the women, backed up by @kev martin. Will we see you stepping in for 'Guest' (we all know who I mean ๐Ÿ˜ช), Kat, come the men's return to Tan, Paddock & Fields?
  10. Something more to think about regarding the role of the guernseys (listen to Tyla's answer to the last question at 1:17):
  11. To be sure, DD! Indeed, for its consequences, it's a bit grand-final-ish. So, a dilemma for Mick in his pitch to the players: a do-or-die grand-final-ish rev-up, a middling 'use the experience for a finals campaign', or steady-as-she-goes with whatever has turned things around (simple and relaxed, effort and selflessness). Or are these all compatible?
  12. Yep, @biggestred, I think it's a reflection of their 14th finish, vs our 5th, last year? Also, though, something evidently in the 2024 water at Hawthorn?
  13. ๐Ÿซก
  14. Thanks. Meggs. Can you pull the other thread over here @Demonland?
  15. (It's their home game, right?) Anyway, good to see Colvin back. Taylor the consequent last-in-first-out victim. Always awks after the fuss made on their debuts (K.Brown says hullo), particularly in Saraid's case with all her personality splashed over the Club's website before and after the game. Take lots of Grippo, girls, and I hope there are a few more Dees fans at the game than just the spinning ones on the boundary line. Sounds like Aaron Davey will get a few there, at least?
  16. Consider me stopped ๐Ÿ˜
  17. Tom McDonald, pick #53, 2010 A repeat would do. Not quite as convincingly, Marty Hore, pick #56, 2018. But still...
  18. Well, there was evidently a hook cast, with his Manager then dangling off it... My post was only an attempt to clarify what Houston said, in response to what it was said he said. It's interesting the breadth of opinions on Houston, and (the many?) other recruitment options. I think I'm in your camp on this one.
  19. Are you referring to his response to Maher and Gaze on SEN, SS22? I recommend another listen then: he wanted to come home, not to a specific club, at the end of the year, Hinkley supported this, his manager then put to him the possibility of a specific destination, and he rejected it because 'throughout the year there was a little bit of unrest at Melbourne, it seemed, and it probably wasn't the best thing for me to do and I'd rather not go there'. So, he never was a Dee, and for not-specific reasons. According to himself.
  20. Something about this picture (lower leg strapping n all)... Any comparisons yet makeable with (195cm) J.White? Albeit that JW had 3 seasons and 32 games at Freo under his belt by the time he first played for us, having just turned 21, which WV will do at the start of the 2025 season. If there are any comparisons to be made, they'll be on 3 years' delay (at least). And he'll only be a 200-gamer, not a 250.
  21. South Gippsland Sentinel Times. Thought you might be from around here. A few of us are, I think. Anyways, liking yours and our other D'lander colleagues' thoughts on who's going to swell our talent coffers for '25. Just get Langford, though (I have my reasons) and the other pick's a free throw.
  22. Youโ€™re in SGST land, S_D?
  23. Me, too, Kat. I think we might need to make the most of it, though. When, as we all should hope, they get to the same level of professional and competition recognition as the boys (or even remotely near it) I guess access, and their personas, will be affected in inverse proportion, like the boys. Or we could hope our women, and the comp generally, manage to vive la difference?
  24. Good on you @Katrina Dee Fan (and you, @kev martin) Insightful and thorough - as well as dedicated! These reports are much appreciated - and a welcome distraction from the current dominant fare here on 'Land ๐Ÿ˜‰
