PRESEASON TRAINING 2025: Bright and Myrtleford
It is called a 'community camp', so you'd expect 'the community' would be welcome! I think they were last year?

Battle Hymn
Gotta keep this on the board with a comment, @Six6Six! It's obviously a 'slow burn' 😊 Demon Army, does 🎶'Glory, Glory, Red and Blue, yeah! The Dees go marching on!'🎶 have any match-day potential?

A Draft-Done-and-Dusted Distraction: a Doozy or a Doddle?
An objective sometimes thrown up at Draft time is 'team balance'. I reckon our chaps did a pretty good job on this but fell a bit short. They did a good job bringing in Xavier Taylor, Latrelle Pickett, Riley Onley, Kalani White and Oscar Berry, but I suggest, in letting Christian Petracca, Clayton Oliver, Charlie Spargo and Deakyn Smith - yes, Deakyn Smith! - go, and retiring Nathan Jones early, they missed a greater opportunity. Credit to the Board, though, for its contribution to balance in its selection of our new coach (he's such a good fit, and already so familiar, that I feel quite comfortable moving on already from 'Mr King' to 'Steve') This team might not seem balanced, but it really is. Why? [PMs, blah, blah, blah - you know the drill!] B: Jake BOWEY Xavier TAYLOR Kalani WHITE HB: Jake LEVER Blake HOWES Nathan JONES C: Xavier LINDSAY Bailey LAURIE Christian PETRACCA HF: Trent RIVERS Daniel TURNER Clayton OLIVER F: Bayley FRITSCH Harry SHARP Latrelle PICKETT Foll: Max GAWN Kysaiah PICKETT Charlie SPARGO I/C: Jack VINEY Riley ONLEY Deakyn SMITH Shane McADAM Oscar BERRY Coach: Steve KING

No? Course maintenance compound, for which alternative premises need to be found?

I think they're dropping 'The' and 'Centre'. They're still 'impressions, BB, but the following has just dropped. Sack the copy-proofer, though; can someone correct?...

Don't worry about this, Rodney. The discussion was about the value of the Club's history (vs looking to its future) to the Club. not to the 'outside world'. It seems to be in good hands in the former.

I certainly, even particularly, meant that cohort, Rodney, for what they bring from the Club's history. 'History' in this discussion does them an injustice; they are very much 'present'. Their potential and actual contribution is tangible. The older cohorts, infirm or departed, can still provide models of attitudes to the Club and to life, though, for our cohorts current and yet to come, as they make, then go on to represent, history* for the Club. (*...and now, into the spotlight, herstory)

2060, eh, Dub? There's a fair group on here who'll have to be with you just in 'spirit'. Represent them well! 😇

Worst Ever Draft Decision (& Best)
Not sure he was that good looking, LG, but your fascination does have a place here. He went at 23 in his draft (2000). Our pick before (16) was a good'un...for another club: Scott Thompson. Not a great drafting year for us after the highs of that year, except for another pick deep in the rookie draft...for another club: Darren Jolly. Ross Funke added some naming fun, and Daniel Breese, well... Thereafter, a 'What ever happened to?' list: Mitchell Craig, Nick Gill, Kevin Devine, Mark Berts, Ben Doherty and Tom Marshall.

Thanks!👍 2025 BnF, I presume? Umps' rising star an interesting one.

...and he stepped into those shoes post-1964 for those of us slightly older #subtract2

The Club's history is also represented by a large cohort of past players, whose actual or potential contribution in myriad ways towards the Club's future needs to be recognised and fostered.

Welcome to Demonland: Thomas Matthews
...And can our interviewers please, please, please try 'Tell us about...' What is so complicated in every topic that we need to be 'talked through' it?!

Welcome to Demonland: Thomas Matthews
During the 8(!) months (so far!) of recovery he says, 'I learnt a lot about myself' and it was 'a blessing in disguise'. Both a mature, self-aware, response in itself, and an agent of further maturing. But is there anything to worry about in that recovery time for a PCL/meniscus injury, still under way and, per the earlier post, only in the last few weeks beginning to 'learn to walk again'? Don't expect too much of him in 2026?

Bailey Humphrey
Reckon our Rd 2 pick might have been an agenda item in one of those pre-trade chats?
-
Bailey Humphrey
...so long as he's not the Alpha in the group and the others head west to join him?
-
Still no way forward
Can we have his 44 2025 goals? Wasted on him, it seems? 😉

Welcome to Demonland: Thomas Matthews
Obviously, the smaller the player, the bigger the need for a nickname! Let me redress that? When Xavier Taylor becomes captain, they'll call him 'E'. XTC.

Welcome to Demonland: Thomas Matthews
Yep - see @spirit of norm smith's post. It surprised me, as he did it in the first game, though then went on to play three(?) more. He kept referring to it as 'a meniscus'. Would there have been a pre-surgery period for swelling to go down? And a long period after, of load off?

Welcome to Demonland: Latrelle Sumner-Pickett
It would be rather 'Melbourne', wot, if it were... TRELLY-HO!
