  1. Thanks, @Ghostwriter! This thread is a stark reminder of how pleasantly trivial, diverting and consuming Demonland can be 😄 Do any of the names vary in the heat of match-day battle? TMac, for example, might be a bit of a mouthful? Does Clarry get Clazz much? (as used by Richo (*) in his interview, for example) Ditto Koz v. Kozzy/Kossie? Poor Harves had to take second best, eh? Ricky, though, hasn't been forced there by the 'unentitled' Rick. And, finally, we mourn the passing of the good old days: only 5 genuine 'nicknames' imagined by this Gen-something-or-other (and PC?) lot! (*) Perhaps a coaches' list, too, Ms Friendly Ghost?
  2. How many words achieved without them? Is there a relevant Walkley category being vied for?
  3. With the maximum list size of 31, is someone to be cut? Anyone know/guess when or who? Perhaps Aimee Mac on LTI list accounts achieves it?
  4. Good pick-up, @Young Angus. That does seem rather telling, given who he did mention, and how he mentioned them. Hopefully, though, this was just because of how Richardson was led by the questions (the asker of which probably wouldn't know a Jefferson from an airplane).
  5. GWS in R1 might provide a 'middlish' backline to test him against? I don't know who they've recruited or lost, but this was their selected close-losing (at home, to eventual premiers) 2024 semi-final backline: B: H.Himmelberg, S.Taylor, C.Idun HB: L.Whitfield, J.Buckley, H.Perryman No particular 'names' there?
  6. ...or Salem? What distinguishes between Salem and Bowey, do we think? Footedness, obviously. Salem for delivery? Bowey for hardness?
  7. The Richardson interview is fairly bullish, in 'in the mix for R1' terms, about Johnson forward / ruck chop-out but also, though, about Petty back and forward, and not just when 'needed'.
  8. ...that very rare entity that returns 0 in a googlesearch!
  9. Is it just me? Am I unpatriotic? I don't know what anyone's talking about. Our 365-days-a-year-definitely-NOT-the/a-W/world-G/game on the other hand...
  10. This be what they're talkin' about...

  12. Maybe we'll get more funding interest if this thread's title is changed - well over due, more fulsomely, and correctly - to 'Home Base!' Much more bang for the bartered buck than 'Training Ground?' @Demonland, waddayareckon?
  13. Alert, @Ghostwriter: thread trending dangerously...
  14. This number of reminisces certainly speaks to the man (mann?) And that footy card was very evocative. But I guess it also speaks to a significant proportion of the Demonland demogaphic: those whose Demons foundations were laid in the dimly-appreciated '50s and early '60s but whose bricks and mortar were the mid- to late-60s. Unfortunately, thereafter, paint and furniture failed to materialise...
  15. That confirms it: 1966. Kerry Ryan, #36, played 1 game for the Dees, in 1966 (and kicked 1 goal - presumably from that mark from H's vision!) Graham Osborne also mentioned, and 1966 was his first year with the Dees.
  16. Can anyone ascertain if this footage is from his post-12th-premiership period? The mid-60s seem to have been a bit of a watershed, from the earlier 'get-and-kick' style, to a more skilful, varied one, as demonstrated by H.
  17. Max'll be able to share a thing or two with him about not losing, or at least regaining, confidence after a repeat injury.
  18. Scroll forward 50 years and that's a laptop in front of Henry, with [insert football media outlet of choice] opened...
  19. ? Still '76'? Perhaps missing last season's (S9's) 11 games? Melbourne had played 76 games up to end S8.
  20. You rose to the occasion again, Mr Stone!
  21. p.s. At 76 games, he's missed 1 of Paxy's and 2 of Kate's games. Trivia question: Who took the reins in those games? Possibly Shae S?
  22. Only peripherally on topic, but this thread is the only current live AFLW-related one. It's about the only boy in @red and blue forever's valued tabling (who's still only 41? Wow!) This from last year's end of season activities but only now appearing on the Club's website. Geez he's an asset. And long may he continue to be so. https://www.melbournefc.com.au/news/1706399/future-direction-stinear-confident-in-young-list
  23. It's a good read (but, then, I'll read anything about the Dees). Thanks, @rumpole. Though '...we give value. No same old garbage you’re going to hear from ten others, taking turns in mimicking each other. No played out opinions. Thoughtful and comprehensive – that’s what we aspire to provide...' is a bit of a stretch; I didn't see much new or left field. Its substance, and the padding, are entertainingly written, and you've got to be impressed by someone who can write two novels in a handful of months!
