  1. Landsberger's unlocked the secret! Players go to the club they supported as kids. Why didn't we think of that?! Of course, Tracc will be off to the Pies then, too, any day now...
  2. Which is which, 58er?
  3. And now, have a smile: https://www.melbournefc.com.au/video/1585947/haymes-paint-artistic-showdown?videoId=1585947&modal=true&type=video&publishFrom=1719388800001
  4. Yes, that is rather relevant atm, eh! There's room on the wall for when the blue and gold is swapped back for the red and blue, in time for '20 things from 20 years'. 😄
  5. Maybe, Adonski! Though the pronunciation and double N might call for a double S and different pronunciation? A pretty nasty virus results 😬
  6. Yeah, I noticed Steven May referred to him as 'Andy Moniz' in his announcement. I also noted in his 'phone home' vid that his Dad is 'Mick Wakefield', so I presume his Mum provides the (Portuguese) 'Moniz'? I did note, too, that his Mum will be in (formerly 'Portuguese') Timor for his debut (🙁) But that'll be another nation now following the Dees! (🙂)
  7. I thought all that, too, W, but Kate's and Max's presences then represent the present and near-to-(as I equally expect)-mid future, whereas the '10 things in 10 years' theme was about those 10 years, where Daisy and Max were generational presences and representative of one of those 10 things - three reigning premier teams in 2020. But all this is very much a sidebar to the sponsorship/s and the mural as an outcome of one of them. Nice to see it in the background of the AMW vids, too!
  8. Looks good laid out like that. Encouraging 😊 It would be a little better, though, with a 'Twenty-teens' feel about it, if there was an obvious Petracca and Oliver, some Jackson height and, among the young Casey tall timber, a Gawn slow burner in it. Too much to wish for? Well, all at once, at least?
  9. Probably a very short-lived thread, not being of great interest, and probably eliciting 'they're-only-in-it-for-themselves' reactions, but this was a nice story, about a sponsor that has attracted my loyalty (and also sponsors a nice weekly Club website piece - although it's a tad awkward when we lose and/or don't kick many goals!) It also made me reflect on the validation we get when entities want to align with us. So, anyway, thanks sponsors! https://www.melbournefc.com.au/video/1585650/10-years-with-haymes-paint?videoId=1585650&modal=true&type=video&publishFrom=1719338400001 (p.s. Curious that Kate got the gig, rather than Daisy?)
  10. So he sees your thanks above, @DeeZone: @george_on_the_outer
  11. 'Dangerous tackle' is often heard in the umpires' mics as the reason for a free kick. Is it a basis for a financial or games penalty, however, without other criteria being met?
  12. This thread prompted me to watch something I would have had no interest in otherwise. My observations are: 1. The Essendon player hit his head on the ground as a result of the forward momentum of the passage of play; and, 2. The Geelong player endeavoured to arrest the momentum and hold the Essendon player up. I'm prepared to suspend my conspiracy theory tendency. On this one.
  13. Indeed, WSW (you're not related to that other double-W, are you?😲); that's as I always thought. However! Look what my consult with the good Doctor threw up: https://www.theguardian.com/science/2010/aug/17/lou-gehrig-disease-baseball-death Discuss.
  14. Sometimes posts are triggering - this was one - that prompt me to consult Dr Google. Had anyone died of the disease named for them?! It was an unfruitful consultation. However, it did throw up lots of fascinating articles in the general subject of disease naming. This BBC article seems typical: https://www.bbc.com/news/health-34913764 There must be a gap in the market for the syndrome - possibly fatal but yet to be proven so? - whose major symptom is participating in and enjoying this thread. A number of names suggest themselves (you know who you are...)
  15. An omen for Friday, then?... It's party time!
  16. It sort of was, wasn't it?!... But on to the nub of your post, Trav; Marxy Gawan has a ring to it!
  17. ...so, from here on, I'm, 🎶 Stayin' away, stayin away; ah, ah, ah, ah, stayin' aw-ay-ay-ay-ay-aaaaay-ay 🎶
  18. Bound for the Swans, as his third club, next year then?
  19. They've all gone Dees AND none are tipping Roos? Wish I could be quite so sure... Over at The Age, the only 'Experts' tipping Roos are Birch and Kearney. Holding down bottom 2 places, too - 12 particular misses in 13 games played wouldn't have helped. Vested tipsters are always good for a laugh (hopefully not on the other side of our faces this week...)
  20. I presume you mean that the loss of one of the named 23 would be the disaster, not Fullarton getting a game in the ones? He's not that bad, is he? 😉
  21. Ummm... Doesn't this show our opposition to be even less experienced (and, accordingly, likely even younger)? So, another little needle for should/must/please! win?
  22. Them's impressive editing skills right there! Unless @Demonsterative was onto something...
  23. Nah, we love this sort of stiff.
  24. Dunno. But this usually happens... Now we're really getting back on track!
  25. Please don't 'bite', folks. Let it stand as a view - possibly with a personal story attached, as you (and I) have in the thread's subject matter - and move on with the thread's specific purpose on its (strong) merits.
