  1. yep mine is coming on. reach for the whisky and panadol and maintain regime for next 3 days.
  2. Don't pikeout, log-in and join the mayhem. it will lighten your day, widen your horizons, give you a better idea of the vagaries of human nature, better understand the nature of conflict, sharpen your [censored] antenna, allow you to talk about any subject under the sun, appreciate the sexual inclinations of certain posters (I did not say BBO did I?) and occasionally read about football. And stop you from taking out your frustrations with family or friends. Escape from the real world and enjoy the virtual world. We are all shadows, pretenders, and we delude ourselves into thinking that our opinion is important and matters to others. Of course no one can give a stuff for your opinion. They just want to use your comments as a means of being heard themselves. Remember despite the ratbags and egos we all have one binding mad crazy devotion that binds us (I did not say ties us BBO) together.
  3. I am loving this thread. this site is a wondrous thing. to think that the people lurking on this site are a bunch of tragic one dimensional weirdos. these conversations would not be taking place at Collingwood or Tigerland. I should have realized that Melbourne fans are a race apart.
  4. why did you have to make my day even worse Curry? Show a bit of sensitivity please.
  5. Oops I had forgotten some of these classics. My deteriorating mind. Respect Indeed. I take it all back.
  6. Kubrick is not to my taste ManDee. You must be a hardcore movie fan with eclectic tastes or a sicko. I have to be very drunk to watch Kubrick or simply close my eyes.
  7. Forgive me I must be mistaken for thinking this was a website to discuss football and in particular the MFC. It's like going to a website about bullfighting and finding its a porn site. by the way fellini is one of my favourite directors. His artistry far exceeds the other two. He will be remembered long after the other two are forgotten. but best watched in an elevated state.
  8. maybe but I am not sure about this assertion. would be interested in your reasons GNF. hogan is fast, mobile and needs to be given space. dawes can't mark and also needs space to lead up field. hogan can mark and does not need to be hindered by his team mates. so really the question is whether these two can use space in a way that suits both without hindering one another. It also needs set plays, good midfield movement and the midfielders knowing who they will go to and when. also has to be viewed in the context of the whole forward line set-up and how the ball is coming in. scatter gun approach is not going to work.
  9. Totally agree Camillo, I hate this hyped up atmosphere for one team over the other. Guess I am old fashioned but I was embarrassed by the bias towards the Dees at the MCG. We don't need it. It is artificial and over the top. The game and the crowd create the real atmosphere. The rest is contrived.
  10. I admire your capacity to soak up so much football. Admiration mixed with concern for your well being Praha. Personally, I don't think we have the cattle. This has been a discussion on so many threads over so long that it serves no purpose to go over old ground. However, I absolutely agree that the fade outs are a mental thing and not a skill thing. Our players drop their bundle time and time again. It is reflected in their lack of run, lack of chase, and body language. Some players are worse than others. However it afflicts the whole team and we need to overcome it because at it is we cannot win footy games.
  11. agree with you I have no ill feeling towards Frawley, however can't help feeling that there is some karma about it.
  12. thanks for the positive post P-man. I feel better.
  13. uhmmm. okay if that's what you like doing. how about spending time with the person you love, spending time with family, having a drink with friends or reading a book.
  14. feel better curry? I don't like reading this stuff but you are stating what most of us feel. Not sure whether it or not but that second half performance was soul destroying. What are the positives? We have only played two games, we have a stronger list than last year and we at least have 1 win out of 2. We also see weaknesses in our team that is going to make it a rocky ride.
  15. I would agree with you if Frost can be an effective tap ruckman at centre bounce as well around the ground, better than either Gawn or Pencil.
  16. very harsh assessment of Jones. your second point is more to the point, in that we do not have others who can rise to the challenge when needed particularly in the midfield. GWS midfield also showed us up last season with their numbers around the ball, their tenacity in the clinches, their run and quick and effective disposal.
  17. agree RB. Sure our midfield is woeful in roving to our losing ruckman and this has been the case for years. We clearly still have a problem with our midfield and outside run but Jamar alone is not the answer and he is a liability around the ground. Despite my misgivings about Spencer and Gawn we need to give one or other a try for several games. my preference is Gawn given his mobility up forward and around the ground. If that means dropping Dawes or Frost then so be it. All I know is that Jamar alone is not the answer.
  18. don't need to be quite so modest. you can let your real you out of the closet.
  19. seriously keen jako. great effort. truly committed Demon. hope they will for you and the other fans. you can go wild in Canberra, party city of the world. oops just realized that everything closes at 5.00pm other than those parties in private houses of public servants.
  20. It is an interesting question. Personally I go with illness rather than disorder for a number of reasons that best suit a conversation rather than comments here. Many would disagree. There is plenty of literature on this question which you can access in which this issue is discussed.
  21. Thanks for this ProDee. I would be careful in reading too much into these selective quotes. Each one of which can be taken out of context and quoted to support an opinion. A couple of comments. I do agree that the DSM can be a misleading and inappropriate way to diagnose a condition. You cannot pigeon hole mental health conditions neatly in a box or definition. Diagnosis and treatment of mental health conditions are not perfect. Individuals also respond differently to treatment. Individuals with the same condition will more often than not respond differently to the same treatment. That is why psychiatrists and GP's with experience and expertise will "trial" different treatment until they find the right one. Often medication is not appropriate and will not work. Sometimes psycho analysis and cognitive behavioural treatment is more appropriate. However, in many cases of serious mental illness, medication treatment is the only way to manage a person. When it works it can transform peoples lives. Sometimes it is just part of a treatment plan and will cease when a person gets back on to his or her feet, this is particularly the case in reactive conditions, such as a depression caused by an event in someones lives. However mental illness does exist. It is an illness just in the same way as any form of illness. The mind body connection is real. An important component in physical health is a persons mental health. It also important that we do not deride or rubbish psychiatrists or mental health professionals. As with all professions, there are competent and incompetent people in the profession. But we do need them just as we need a plumber or dentist.
  22. Don't you love Demonland. A "who cares" or throwaway story on the worse TV show in town with comments from a bunch of clowns with two neurons who simply love a headline or the sound of their own voice. Then we have a thread full of assumptions, generalizations, moralising, baseless opinions, counter opinions, medical opinions, bruised egos, indignation. And from a bit of useless gossip on a useless TV show from the mouths of useless commentators, the opinions on the thread become the new story. As Ernie once said "there is nothing noble in being superior to your fellow man, true nobility is being superior to your former self." Having said all that it makes for great reading and you gotta love the strong opinions and personalities on show on this site. Priceless.
  23. OD you have an annoying habit of correcting me. you are usually correct which makes me a bit irritable. I drink to make people more interesting or when I know I have erred.
  24. Disappointing comment from you CBD. Although I note it was in response to TDIs comment which may be a mitigating factor.
  25. good point & interesting comparison clint. just shows you can't make generalizations.
