  1. Surely we have learnt enough from the Kelly (and pick 22) for Tyson and Salem trade. It's not about next year, it's about adding class, the kind that I don't trust Taylor to be able to find in the 2nd round. I personally think apart from the top four or five teams, there is little difference in the rest of the teams excluding the Gold Coast. If we have a good run with injuries, an easier fixture and make some alterations to the game plan, I see no reason we would not be back in the finals next season. I would rather keep elite draft picks and use other methods such as free agency to improve our team. We have had 4 second rounders in the past 2 seasons, if you do not think they're going to help us improve then the issue is our recruitment and the last thing we need is more second round picks.
  2. Thank goodness you aren't in charge. You don't throw away early picks like that. Escpeically when you are giving them to Jason Taylor, who could have had him instead of Spargo to begin with.
  3. He hasn't, one post is about pick 2 and one is about pick 3. Edit - Just saw you didn't quote his latest post. Agree with you Ethan.
  4. Well it's hard to analyze with 'mature player' and not knowing who this is but gold coast getting shafted and you are seriously undervaluing Ben King.
  5. 3 years for a player that would enter next season at 32?
  6. To clarify this, he is contracted for 2020 and looking for a 2 year extension on top of this. I just lost any interest. Found it strange that North would only offer 1, but now it makes sense.
  7. He is a smart player and good decision maker, he has kicked fewer goals this season as he has predominantly played midfield. A player who has the ability to kick 39 goals in a season would fit that description. Even if he gave us nothing in the second season (depending on his salary). I would prefer that to having someone like Stretch clogging up our list.
  8. Same draft as Jones so probably around 31 and yes we should take him, dangerous forward and mid.
  9. No, Adelaide also swapped their 2019 first rounder in this deal. Would have been a disaster trade.
  10. I don't agree with the Lever trade but your option in brackets would be a disaster! Pick 2 and Stocker for pick 3 ?
  11. It was always a poor trade but we are incredibly lucky that we finished where we did last season. The fact we don't appear to have salary space to chase any big name players now is also telling and shows how poor our list management has been. We have a bunch of overpaid players on our list and Lever is just another one of them.
  12. I'm not sure what your point or train of thought is with this one. But we were lucky we didn't have pick 1 or 2 in this draft or we would have ended up with Weitering, Mills or Shache.
  13. Not necessarily, if he keeps improving like he has this far in his career, his value will only increase. There will always be leverage for top KPP prospect, returning to a state with 10 teams. From all reports, the top 7 in last years draft would all be in the conversation for this years pick 1. It's definitely worth a try but as another poster said, Pick 2 would be a starting point and we wouldn't be getting anything coming back.
  14. We are 17th, there better be room or Mahoney and Viney need to walk.
  15. Interesting the Suns are/were interested. I'm happy for him to stay unless we got a big offer (which I think is unlikely, but the Suns could potentially be willing to pay overs) No interest in trading him for the Freo guys or just for the sake of it. Despite his poor skills he still is an important piece to our team. Either way I like how the club has handled this one. Letting clubs know if they are knocking on that door they will need to pay up.
  16. Why would Gold Coast agree to that? There will be a stack of clubs after Ben King if he wants to return home and we would need to be offering pick 3 to be in the discussion.
  17. Won best and fairest's and have been good players for our team. Lever has achieved squat in his AFL career and is close to the most overpaid player in the AFL on output.
  18. What on Earth has Lever done? There is no way he should be replacing anyone.
  19. I wonder what all the posters that were saying he would make a difference think now.
  20. But part of the issue is Hibberd and Jetta look like they are declining rapidly and will never be as good as the once were. Jones also. Lewis is finished now. The only players who have actually come close to improving are Salem, Frost and Hunt. The hope that players like Brayshaw and Petracca elevate their games isn't what it used to be. Weideman was always an unknown and doesn't look as likely as he did at the end of last season. You said in an earlier post that our list management had been good, it's been average at best. We had valuable assets so of course we will get better, but we certainly have not maximized what we had. This is evident by someone like Dunkley or Corey Wagner playing senior football.
  21. I think it's probably Stkilda saying no way the Gold Coast get an early pick and compromise our pick as much as anything.
  22. If you couldn't see that Darcy Moore could play after his 1st season, that's on you. He kicked 5 goals in his 3rd game.
  23. Bit harsh on Lockhart, looked like he was doing a job on Johannisen and kept him relatively quiet. The rest agree on.
  24. Jaded I saw you post earlier he had been good. He was a libaility in the first quarter and shocking again that quarter. Has looked very slow today and with his prior form this season probably should have come through the vfl.
  25. Pathetic from Fritsch, too many players have done those rubbish pointless handballs today which just burn your teammates.
