  1. If Brad Green’s comments are true, Pert has reached his own decision, having raised the subject with the former president many weeks ago. Has achieved a lot.Whilst I’m pleased he is leaving, this is not the time to be bagging him IMV

Parker, Perhaps.,Darling, hell no. Way past his best
  3. Is it valid simply to rate him as a key forward? I don’t see why he couldn’t turn into a good CHB . Good judges are pointing out we have to build up defensive strength for the future .Having said that, he is an excellent accurate kick. If we ended up with him at 9 I’d be delighted

Well, yes, but it is a verbatim quote from Clarry, utterly supportive of MFC . And repeated again verbatim in The Hun. Most favourable material from Clarry, let’s rejoice in it

Well your mate Daz was passing on material which is totally at odds with material available for all of us to see. There was the podcast of an hour or so which we had access to ten days ago, Clarry spoke with warmth about MFC and his fellow players. And then the interview at Caulfield yesterday . If the CEO did ā€œ shop him aroundā€ that’s amazingly stupid and I don’t blame Clarry for looking around. But that’s past, he is fully committed , let’s relish the situation and get on
  6. Can he actually get the ball? It’s fairly important in footy !

The searching questions hurled at Tim Lamb today appear to reveal a catastrophic situation within the Club. Those in football management had no intention of losing Oliver , yet others, and apparently Pert, have indicated he might be traded. He has been permitted to visit Geelong, mingle with their players etc. Then he announces he will stay with MFC! The word shambles is being bandied around and IMV it is justified. If we didn’t all love the club so much we’d be bursting our sides laughing . Yet the CEO has said nothing. The President has announced Oliver is staying but offered no explanation as to how this farce occurred. Whilst the present situation continues our club is doomed for 2025 and beyond . Time cannot be allowed to run on, whilst the Reviews are conducted. We need an explanation NOW . If the CEO was acting on his own initiative then he should very carefully consider his positions
  8. But did he? Evidence please!,,
  9. This interview shows that we would be MAD to let him go. There is nothing fundamentally wrong with his relationship with his team mates . He is obviously close to Max , and speaks so well about Tracc. He will be determined to be as fit as can be for round one . He is a champion— keep him

Thanks for posting this data. It confirms what I’ve always liked about McRae, notably his effective disposals . I agree, much depends on the price , but at the right price I think he could be very useful
  11. Four days in the Federal Court plus all the preparatory work— between 500- 700k IMV . Experienced silks on both sides. and yes, it was entirely avoidable had the Club adopted , from the beginning, the changes it ultimately agreed to .

I think that u overlook the crop of new payers we introduced this year. My rating is Windsor 200 games plus Tholstrup 200 plus AMW and Howes 100 plus I also think that Laurie will become a good player if he can get time as a mid, rather than a HFF and I think u might be underestimating the likes of JVR , McVee ( a star already) and Turner all of whom I expect to play 20 games next year . And I think the caution shown towards Jefferson may well pay off . we DO need a second ruckman. I just don’t understand the Fullarton position

Although I’ve been calling for change I agree with you. I particularly salute her role in development of our AFLW activity
  14. No, that’s just not correct! I appreciate that reading judgments by Supreme Court Judges is not what people on this site prefer to do, but in this instance the recent judgment in the Peter Lawrence case tells us so much . Can you imagine a well run club having to make 8 amended sets of Rules , several of which were made under fire during the hearing?. The MFC was in litigious disarray as it tried to avoid making the changes that any decent member would support. This is the second time in 2 years . In an earlier case the club lost hands down in resisting making email addresses available to a candidate for membership . In organisations everywhere if a member or shareholder chooses to receive club communications by email, it is inevitable that candidates for office will be entitled to canvas support by email. In the earlier case the MFC was ordered to pay costs. In the most recent case it is most unlikely it will recover even a portion of its costs . Many hundreds of thousands of dollars have been wasted , in an attempt to prevent challenges to the Board . I am NOT referring to the other case to which we may make no comment
  15. To the contrary. After Roffey took over Wilson attended a pre match lunch and raved about the change under Roffey

If we did what I now suggest, yes I think we would be top 4 . The MFC has half back flanks galore. IMV three of Salem, Bowie , Howes, AMW can do the job nicely in the company of quality big defenders . this means both Rivers and McVee can be freed up to play on ball. Both have pace and I think the ability to be top line mids. They also dispose of the ball well. My sense is that they might make it unlikely Sparrow can hold his place. He has been disappointing since 2021. I think this would start to redress a marked weakness in 2024, lack of pace in the middle . thoughts?
  17. I don’t follow this closely but IMV our greatest need is pace around the middle . I sense the only really pace player we have picked up recently is Windsor .0 Perhaps he will end up as an on baller, but not yet

Not only is he the best captain but today of all days we should value his leadership. I have no doubt whatever that he is a substantial reason for Tracy’s decision to stay

I think I recall Tomlinson saying he was looking forward to playing on a wing with Stephen May kicking the ball out to him. He did play early games on a wing. Had a shot from 50m one night v Geelong which just missed. Had it been a goal we won . Good luck to the bloke !

It was only ā€œ a drawā€ after the Club acceded to many of PL’s claims, literally while the case was proceeding in court. Not, as the President suggests in her email , earlier after there had been a consultation with ( a few ) members .True, Lawrence lost on two remaining issues, but he achieved a hell of a lot
  21. Farmer replied to Satan's post in a topic in Melbourne Demons
I promise you mate, it’s most unlikely he will be ordered to. He won the 2022 case in the Supreme Court, the MFC had to pay his costs
  22. Farmer replied to Satan's post in a topic in Melbourne Demons
Good heavens. You only have to read last week’s judgment to see how appallingly the Board has behaved . I cite one example, following the ridiculously triumphant statement from the President. ā€œ we will pursue Lawrence for our costs ā€œ. If they do, they will look even more stupid. . In fact I’m hoping they do so, in order to see what a truly independent person, Justice O’Callaghan has to say about the matter
  23. Your dislike of Peter Lawrence is obvious. Aggrandisement ! Is that why he drove a bunch of our women players to Brisbane for a Final during the pandemic.? Is that why he’s given a small fortune to the Club? I urged you last week to read the Judgment in his case against the Club. those who have done so seem to have changed their mind. He’s actually achieved a great deal for the Club in forcing the Board to make seven sets of Rule changes . I gather that you and some other posters are concerned that in an earlier case he won the right to email club members ( who choose to receive Comms from MFC by email) with material in support of his candidature . No lawyer I know believes the Club should have contested that case . Stacks of similar organisations now recognise that such a result was inevitable . MFC should have offered to distribute his material , which likely would have solved the problem without litigation . I must say that reading the judgment, and then considering Roffey’s triumphalist statement , convince me that all is not well at Board level

Whilst critical of our president on the other matter I agree with you. Not appropriate for her to get involved on football issues
  25. Agreed. One of the best ever. Bennett was badly beaten by Hamilton, then that great coach Sheedy took Hamilton off firm and put Vanderhar on him. Bennett went mad!!!!!
