TMac on the Trade Table?
He kicked 50 goals plus, having missed the first 5 games due to injury

TMac on the Trade Table?
Bloody hell! Petty at CHB?The club want to play him forward

TMac on the Trade Table?
Crap defender? Bloody nonsense. He was third and 5th in our B and F as a key defender. A weakness in short passing out of defence but an excellent defender otherwise . Did much more for us in defence than Lever has done thus far

Mahoney's Trade Plan
Well let me put a different perspective. We must assume that BB plays full forward . Where does Weideman play? CHF? Perhaps, but he’s not played there thus far. In prior years Tom McD was not a one trick pony. Sure, he was a strong mark, but he got many disposals on the ground. I’m very happy that Tom MCD might have to fight for his position , but so should Weideman . And so far as our defence is concerned, IMV he is the ideal tall defender. And we need a third tall if Lever is to do better. I regard Lever as a major disappointment so far

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - BEN BROWN
They Were great days. I saw Stuart Spencer’s first game in 1950 ,thereafter he was my absolute hero. I recall the Adams/ Healy clash very clearly. We were marginally in front in the last quarter of the 1955 GF when Adams came on as 19th man and headed straight for Healy. Healy had the ball and was bouncing it down the outer side of the centre. Because he was carrying it, every eye was on him. Adams simply crashed into him without any evasive action or attempt to grab him so their heads clashed . All of the 100,000 at the ground saw the incident which was sickening as both players lay motionless on the ground until both were carried off. Bluey was a marginal player that year, but he became much better than marginal . Spencer left after the winning GF in 1956, because someone offered him a Service Station in N Tasmania!!!! He later said it was a terrible mistake. . Spencer was undoubtedly the best rover in the VFL , taller than most, with a raking left foot kick . But when he left , Bluey became the second rover, alongside Ian Ridley. we were thrashed by Footscray in 1954 GF but thereafter won them all, until and including 1960 , apart from the infamous 1958 blood bath. Then we won again, with a far less superior team in 1964. That was Norm Smith’s greatest coaching triumph . Baker is bigger than was Adams and his hair is not as red. I hope he makes it, he tries v hard .

Mahoney's Trade Plan
Yep that’s right. In one year we recruit Jackson, Kosi, Rivers, Langdon and Tomlinson but you say Mahoney is a dud?
-
TMac on the Trade Table?
He wasn’t at CHB. Lever was .Tomlinson playing as the third tall

TMac on the Trade Table?
Tmac, Hore and Tomlinson are three v different players. Would u play either Hore or Tomlinson at FB or CHB? Of course not! Quite frankly, we would get better value out of Lever , if he wasn’t playing a key position. If TMac recovers his 2018 fitness and we have let him go, we will regret it . He’s only 28, not a has been

TMac on the Trade Table?
Ten days ago we were tipped as likely to pick up Smith and Ben Brown. Both costly acquisitions , but the Smith deal is not happening, so that likely expenditure is not a worry. In these circumstances, in my view it would be madness to let Tom go. If he doesn’t recover his extraordinary forward line performance of 2018, the fact is that he was a first rate defender in 2017. What happens if, eg, May breaks a leg in R1? McDonald, in form, offers so much to our list . An excellent character , highly regarded by his peers, I would be gutted if he goes elsewhere .

Adam Treloar
Treloar is no wingman. He’s a dead set rover. Was a gun three years ago but I dunno if he is now. Seems to have lost a little speed

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - BEN BROWN
No outrage whatever! Just a healthy disagreement. I don’t regard Weideman as a bad player but I think he has proven to be disappointing. But if Brown, who is purely and simply a FF, comes to Melbourne, where does the Weid play? He also is a FF. If you say we have to play Weid at CHF, where does Jackson play? My point is that Tom McD offers much more versatility . Say May breaks a leg in R1 ,Tom can play back , he was a bloody good defender before going forward in 2018

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - BEN BROWN
Must say I thought I was talking about Tom McDonald. Don’t know how the issue of Oscar marking his opponent crept into this thread . Which of you think that Weideman will EVER kick as many goals in a season as Tom did in 2018? Tom was nearly knocked out v Geelong this year, , stayed on the ground though clearly hurt , took a huge pack mark and kicked a goal in the last quarter that started a run which nearly won us the game.Sorry, but I’ve never seen Weideman do any such thing
-
WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - BEN BROWN
So you think that at some point Weideman will kick 50 plus goals in a season ? He had a good run of games this year, barely got a kick in the last few . The bloke we are apparently happy to let go, has already done it . Let's see what Tom ‘s “ new shape” produces , madness to trade him out .
-
WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - BEN BROWN
I’d like Weideman to do all sorts of things, perhaps with another club! I’m doubting our investment in him will pay off. FWIW I would retain Tom while trying to get Brown . The Weid would be very tradeable

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - BEN BROWN
Certainly can. That’s why I am keen

Farewell Oscar McDonald
When? Which match? a lot depend on what one makes of Tomlinson. Lever does not play as a key defender. Never has, he didn’t at Adelaide where Talia and Brown were the key defenders. Lever can, nevertheless be useful if given little responsibility on a gun player . Can Tomlinson play as a key defender? Or Smith? Perhaps Petty will be the man. I haven’t minded Oscar playing a purely defensive role on a tall forward
-
Farewell Oscar McDonald
Truly, that is rubbish! We started off with Lever and Tom McD playing back in 2028 .Lever useless early on, then a bad injury as he was starting to improve. Frost only got a game after Lever’s injury, plus the decision to play Tom forward— a pretty good decision as it transpired. Mid season onwards ( after we were smashed by Pies on Queens Birthday) Oscar and Frost were the key backs. Have a look at our results thereafter. Look at the two MCG finals, then tell me that Oscar can’t play. ive never seen such a set against a player, because he LOOKS, awkward, non athletic . How many times has he been beaten badly by a one on one opponent? . I ask friends why they seem to detest him and its always “ look at him— he doesn’t look like a player” And it’s the treatment in sites such as this which has [censored] off Tom, so we are likely to lose two utterly decent guys in circumstances which won’t reflect well on the club.
-
Farewell Oscar McDonald
Well that’s the point!!!! If all we are to get for Oscar is, eg, number 70 in the draft, are we not better to retain him? Perhaps as Rookie? How many very late draft picks turn out to be as useful as Oscar? If u disagree, have a look at the first two finals in 2018
-
Isaac Smith
I don’t think Langdon can be classified as a moderate B grade midfielder. And our recruiting this year has been OUTSTANDING . When else have we recruited three 18yos who will be gun 200 game players ? And Langdon is already a star
-
Kade Kolodjashnij on Battling Concussion
Yeah that’s right mate, Mahoney is a dud. Really!!!! In one year we recruit Jackson, Kosi, Rivers, Langdon and Tomlinson. Not wrapped in the latter but I regard it as the best recruiting year for a very long time . The three kids will all play 200 games , hopefully for us
-
Farewell Oscar McDonald
Are u serious. Trade OMac for pick 88? Hardly anyone rated 70 or above gets to play a single game
-
Farewell Oscar McDonald
Just watch the first two finals of 2018, then you would know a lot more
-
Farewell Oscar McDonald
Really. In these boring times do yourself a favour and watch our two winning finals from 2018 and then tell us if Oscar, let alone Tom, should be traded . oscar does not LOOK the part. When he first started playing I had friends who jeered him unmercifully and often unfairly . In fact he’s a more than useful player . Good height against tall key forwards . Lovely kick. Only 24. Are you certain we will get someone more useful ? I find it interesting comparing him with Lever who DOES look the part but who makes howlers every game, three in a row costing immediate goals against, from memory, Gold Coast. Who often panics and handballs to nobody. Yet because he looks ok and, let it be said, defends pretty well when he has no opponent, no-one calls for his sacking like they do for Oscar . He’s been most unfairly treated on this site and elsewhere

Delistings
Exactly!!! Take Josh Wagner. In my opinion excellent recruiting. He was overlooked in two drafts . We picked him as a mature age rookie. How many mature age rookies play as many games as he did. And he played some very good games. He was never in our best 22, nowhere near it , but he was a bloody good backup on the HBF. Our latest recruiting has made him superfluous ,he would understand that . Anyone can select excellent kids from the first two rounds of the draft. It’s the ability to get value from the lesser known selections which demonstrates good team management

Delistings
DD, being bored last night I watched the second half of both of our winning finals in 2018. I suggest you do likewise. If u do I think u may agree there is no way we should delist OMac and neither should we trade TomMac . Give them both specific targets over the summer then see what they can do in 2021
