Not in best 22, will get games later in the year when injuries hit. Run-of-the-mill depth player.
-
Can guarantee whoever we pick at 9 will be sold to the supporters with the "We would have taken him at 2" line come draft day. Hopefully we really do get our man. Dunstan seems perfect for our needs but the media and "group think" followers don't seem to rate him that highly. I will admit I've never seen Dunstan play live so take with grain of salt.

Hawks complain about Buddy compo

Sorry but any player that can do what Franklin did at the start of this clip doesn't fall short. We all know it wasn't a fluke too. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iGHNJBtvWhw -
WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - BERNIE VINCE

Only one we might regret is overlooking Wines. Love the Toump and reckon he's all class but Wines was incredible this season. The rest is spot on! -
Don't want to blow my own trumpet but my proposals have been pretty close to reality so far! No I am not Josh Mahoney but I'm very pleased with how proactive we have been. If we can land Cross then we've had a very good off-season and might surprise a few next year (/October optimism)

Excellent. This trade actually excites me more than the Tyson one because we have guarenteed improvement and support in the midfield from Round 1 next year. Well done to the brains trust. -

I agree with your sentiment. October and November is always Christmas time on Demonland and by Round 1 the reality bus is back. But what about Jack Viney? Surely no question marks apart from his age. -
Tyson did a PCL didn't he? Not really a long-term concern.

Barrett peddling his usual crap about the Demons
Bang Bang Bang replied to Dees2014's topic in Melbourne Demons
Terry Wallace was a champion footballer and reasonably successful coach over a long career. His thoughts are worth listening to. What's Barrett's football pedigree? Is it big enough to question the wisdom of Paul Roos? Enough said. The guy's a muppet and really should not comment on anything football. HIs opinion is irrelevant and just because he has a voice that is heard on radio does NOT make him any more informed than me, you, and any other football fan. -
I was never much good at Sport as a kid but Aths was one of my strong suits - let me confirm that a 51sec 400m is rather fast for a kid to be running. Impressive!!

Tomas Bugg & Matt Buntine

Scully? I forgave them immediately when I saw Jesse Hogan's first mark and kick against the Kangaroos, February 2013. -
He has one heck of a resume (especially given I'd never heard of him until recently). It looks like success follows him but he will have his work cut out trying to get anything good out of this midfield! "Tap it to Jonesy!"

I was talking about Barry Hall. It was you that brought Woewodin into it! Anyway, I won't derail the thread any further, -

He was All-Australian CHF 3-years running (2004, 2005, 2006) then again in 2010 just for good measure. "One top season" you say? If that's just a good player and "not a star" then I honestly don't know what your criteria for a "star" could possibly be. Of course having a good midfield helps (were the Swans mids really that good?) but it's ludicrous to attribute Hall's success as a player to that. Clearly a star. -

Barry Hall was just about the best player in the whole league in 2005. Clearly a star. No debate. -
One way to look at this hypothetically is if Michie went into the open draft after the year he has had at WAFL level, would he have lasted until pick 54? I would hazard a guess and say absolutely not. Great to get him with virtually a free hit. Roos has history turning no-namers into good role players, hope Viv is the first of many.

A very astute analagoy and I read somewhere recently that this is the exact same method Paul Roos uses when determining a draft pick's worth (although can't remember if it was hearsay or fact). -
LOL - unless you played under Nathan Bassett, coached alongside him or been heavily involved with him in some football sense, how could you possibly know he "ticks every box"? EVEN THEN how do you know his skills would translate to successful AFL head-coach? I'll back Paul Roos' and Peter Jackson's judgements over yours.

Mr Clark Kent = Nudge = Chilliboy Nothing surer.
-
He's contracted to Adelaide so that makes our bargaining position rather difficult. Roos has proven over the journey that he doesn't value draft picks as highly as most fans appear to.. he trades away medium to high level picks for fringe players at other clubs. I'd expect us to land Lyons and their 3rd rounder for a 2nd rounder (guessing) and a few angry posters on this board.
-
LOL I'm not sure whether you're alluding to Trent Cotchin once being a pick 2 or that James Aish is the next Cotchin. Both arguments are so heavily flawed that I won't begin!

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - DOM TYSON
Bang Bang Bang replied to angrydee's topic in Melbourne Demons
I reckon pick 10 and Tyson for pick 2 and Blease is a fair trade and hope we get it done . I remember Tyson from 2011 Championships - stood out like a beacon - not sure why he hasn't starred up in GWS but he's a serious talent. Left-footed and poised. The difference between pick 10 and pick 2 is not that great from what I've read - plenty of good inside mids like Crouch, Dunstan available at 10 you'd think. Blease has talent and currency but can't play midfield, is inconsistent and injury prone. -
Stats aren't everything - I remember in that game against us he was quite wasteful by foot. But I agree with your overall sentiment. I'm hoping we pick up his younger bro this draft.
-
Right, someone needs to get a hold of Josh Mahoney and tell him to get the following done, ASAP: Dom Tyson and pick 9 for Sam Blease and pick 2 Bernie Vince and and Lyons for 2nd rounder (Sylvia compo pick) Viv Michie for 3rd Rounder Daniel Cross as delisted FA. Draft Matt Crouch or Luke Dunstan with pick 9 If this all came to fruition we'd have a midfield consisting of N. Jones, Vince, Cross, Trengove, Viney, Tyson, Crouch/Dunstan, Toumpas, Michie in 2014. Add in a fit Clark and Hogan to the forward 50 and it's virtually Premiership time. Seriously though I'm not sure the Giants would go Tyson and 9 for Blease and 2 but the rest looks feasible, right?
