Round 1 Non MFC games
WCE V LIONS is a carbon copy of our match. Eagles start match as you’d expect, running all over Brisbane, then like flicking a switch, the eagles look tired and slow. Very underdone.

Lewis Out - Tom Sparrow In
Might need a gold star next to goowindees’ profile for future reference- shared this long before the media caught wind of it. Well played.

Casey v Box Hill - Practice Game on Sunday
Very keen to see how Kolodjashnij plays. Hopefully can be pushing for selection by rounds 3-4.

Round 1 Non MFC games
Very, very early days... but Richmond and Collingwood both looking vulnerable.

Liam Jones only gets a fine. How stiff is Steven May?
I think everyone needs to find their peace with the fact that if you make contact with the head (even a glancing blow to the very tip of the chin) you’re cooked.

Scully to debut for Hawks within weeks
It was a salary cap dump, but that doesn't explain the 4th round pick in return. If his ankle wasn't 'wrecked' then they would have asked for better than a 4th rounder and they would have received it. In regards to him playing again this year... I'll believe it when I see it. There is a such a massive difference between training, match sim, etc. and playing senior football; especially as Scully has always been a player who has heavily relied upon his running and fitness.

Round 1 Non MFC games
Carlton have absolutely no idea what to do with or without the ball. The number of times a player looked surprised when the ball was coming in their direction was staggering. Poorly prepared, poorly coached and have definitely been reading their own press over the pre-season.

Shocked to see Wagner in there, but I like it.

This sort of cynical spin sets back the cause of mental health across the community.

Dunn Know Howe this happened
Have a lot of time for Dunn and he is a former Vice Captain of the MFC. Fell out of favour with the club, but played his best for us when we were at our worst; I respect him for that. We pushed Dunn out the door, and who knows, maybe that was the best thing for him at the time. Howe wanted out for a long time before he left. He didn't have the fight in him anymore and couldn't see a way out of where the club was at the time. Dunn and Howe shouldn't be mentioned in the same breath.

Sam Weideman + contract
I disagree with the premise that Weideman is the 'new Hogan'. If anything, McDoanld will be playing a role more similar to what Hogan has played in the past, in addition to be our main-man up forward; T-Mac is the new Hogan. Weideman will be a player who anchors our forward line and straightens up our forward entries. I don't think his success this year can be measured in individual goals, but rather his role in the functioning forward half. (With that said, 2 goals per game would be a massive return from a very young KPF.)

Looks and sounds a bit like another small, tough Tasmanian...

Bulldogs "Thor" Guernsey
This jumper, along with the 'super-hero' rebranding of AFL-X is solely due to Marvels sponsorship. If Marvel wasn't pouring money into the AFL, then we wouldn't be seeing this at all. It has nothing to do with 'appealing to the kids' and a 'broader audience'. It is so condescending to young people when old men say that they need to dumb things down to appeal to todays youth. has nothing to do with growing the game; it is a complete sell-out to a multi-national corporation.

Round 1 Team
FWIW, I think May will be allowed to play... however, if not, then... Have been disappointed that Hore hasn't taken the opportunity so far in the absence of Lever. Granted, it's very early days in his senior career, but there was a spot there for him in round one that may need to be filled by Hibberd or even Gawn going back like the second half of '18. Truth be told, it was probably an opportunity for Petty and Keilty as well, but neither seems ready or in form to do it. If May was to play, there's every chance that Frost stays in the side. Hunt has impressed me this preseason and seems to have renewed confidence in his body and football after a disappointing season last year. AVB is another that I'm excited to see get a run at things now that his body seems right. The man is a beast. I have had in the past zero confidence in Joel Smith and have been reluctant to this point to have him in the 22, however if we are rewarding good form, then he has to be considered as the 3rd tall forward. With Smith as coverage down forward, that means Weideman and McDonald need to give a chop-out in the ruck. FB: JETTA . MCDONALD . HIBBERD . HB: LEWIS . FROST . SALEM . ? BRAYSHAW. VINEY . FRITSCH . HF: MELKSHAM. MCDONALD . PETRACCA . FF: SMITH . WEIDEMAN . SPARGO . Fol: GAWN . OLIVER . HARMES . Int: JONES . VANDENBERG . ANB . HUNT .

Steven May Suspended for 1 Match
Must contest this. There was no concussion and the player left the field unassisted. He lay on the ground for so long because he ran into a 100kg man and had the wind completely knocked out of him. The fact that Christian considers 'the look' of the incident when making his judgement is laughable.

The 2015 Key Position Players
It's a good crop of promising young players. Whilst Curnow is the best of the bunch to date, he is nowhere near the player that the press has pumped him up to be. He's an exciting talent and very promising for the future, but like Hipwood, hasn't put it together just yet. And of course, they shouldn't be expected to. Hogan, Brown, Riewoldt are very much the exceptions rather than the rule. Hipwood and Curnow look like they have the talent and athletic ability to tear games apart. I personally don't see Curnow playing as a KPF for much longer. I'd see him as a roaming half-forward/wingman. A lot of the Hipwood hype has died down over the last year or so, but he kicked 37 goals last year in a very average team. I was very keen on McKay in his draft year, but he hasn't developed the athletic edge I though he would to this stage of his career. If Weideman can develop his consistency and his partnership with McDonald, he should develop into a very good KPF for us. Himmelberg could go either way. I watched a bit of him last year, but he doesn't strike me as a 'main man' and may only thrive as a 2nd or 3rd tall; a bit like Cam Mccarthy in his GWS days. Schache is a bust... not a lot to add to that. At this stage: 1) Curnow 2) Hipwood DAYLIGHT 3) Himmelberg 4) Weideman 5) McKay A LOT OF DAYLIGHT 6) Schache 5 years from now: 1) Curnow 2) Hipwood 3) Weideman 4) McKay 5) Himmelberg A LOT OF DAYLIGHT 6) Schache

Lyon: Oliver is Demons best EVER midfielder
Thank god Sydney matched our bid on Mills. Thank god Gold Coast traded us pick three. Thank god we took a risk on a draft bolter and didn't play the safe pick in Parish.

Harrison Petty and Declan Keilty
Was impressed with Petty. He was so far off the pace in his senior match against StKilda last year that I was concerned for the effect that it could have on his confidence and development. Yesterday against some very good players, he showed some very promising signs. Not quite ready yet, but we may see hi during the year. Keilty's atleticism (mainly his leap) is quite extraordinary. If he gets a run next weekend, I'd like to see him have a run at the third tall position down back. As far as I can see, we don't have a lock for the Lever 3rd tall position. I'd say at this stage it's out of Frost, Petty, Keilty, Hore and Smith (though the club seems to be wanting Smith to develop into a forward).

Express Yourself
They can wear whatever they want, I couldn’t care less. What I do object to is the catwalk where they parade their wealth like its as important as the match. It’s boastful, garish and arrogant.
