Welcome to Demonland Matthew Jefferson
DistrACTION Jackson replied to Supreme_Demon's topic in Melbourne Demons
I'd probably be looking at either the Power game or the Dogs game as a good one for a debut personally. Of course this assumes he keeps kicking goals in the VFL. He's now kicked 19.13 in 11 games this season and kicked 23.17 in 20 games last year, so as really increased his output. -

Is it just me, but I thought that Rivers goal was very 'Chad Warneresque'? He could be a genuine weapon as that high octane midfielder. -
2024 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
DistrACTION Jackson replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
Interesting that you have Whitlock going to us, noting the draft order will likely change anyway. He’s that 200cm ruck forward who is agile and good below his knees like a Luke Jackson. Will be interesting to see if he’s of interest to us. -
Good point I hadn’t thought of that. Would be silly to bring someone in from Casey off a 5 day break unless absolutely necessary.
-
Correct. Had 8 tackles and a goal on the weekend.

I'm assuming we lost on expected score -
Good to see Clarry up and about!

I like the look of Turner and think he's developing nicely. I imagine he will go back to the backline at some point, maybe starting from next year if Jefferson works his way into the team. He's got some serious size now and vice like hands.

I think we need some list turnover for sure. But I don't think our situation is as dire as some make it out to be. -

So those players you mention are as follows: May - he was good McDonald - he did his job Oliver - He was poor and we all know the reasons why Fritsch - he was unsighted and had a shocking night. Still our leading goalkicker for the year Gawn - he played a solid game without being spectacular Langdon - did his job on the wing Viney - probably our best player behind Rivers Salem - was subbed out with knee soreness Tomlinson - back up defender. Will be replaced by Lever this week I think 5 of the 9 get a tick and maybe Tomlinson as well as he wasn't terrible. Oliver, Fritsch and Salem all get a fail for that game. -

I think the most pleasing thing is our side from the weekend was pretty young and we were still able to win. Rivers - 22 Bowey - 21 McVee - 20 Windsor - 19 Tholstrup - 18 Pickett - 23 van Rooyen - 21 Howes - 21 Turner - 22 Brown - 19 -
CASEY: RD 13 vs North Melbourne VFL
DistrACTION Jackson replied to KC from Casey's topic in Melbourne Demons
I thought Adams was ok yesterday. He doesn't get much of the ball as he is playing as the full back in more of a shutdown role. He does have a great left peg though and hit a beautiful 60m pass yesterday that I was impressed with. He needs more development and probably needs to get more confidence in his body as he builds this up, but there is a bit to work with I think. He is also now having to be the general down there with Tomlinson out and there is no one else in the backline over 190cm at the moment I don't think. -

They were both ok last night without setting the world on fire. Think we will just have to persevere for this season until Jefferson is ready. -
Christian Petracca’s 2024 Season Ending Injuries
DistrACTION Jackson replied to pitmaster's topic in Melbourne Demons
He's contracted until 2029, why would we trade him? His only family 'ties' is that he barracked for them as a kid -
I’ve heard a rumour he wants to move back to Melbourne (the city). If this is true I hope we throw everything we can at him.
-
I think we need a range of players. Inside mid depth is definitely something that could help. We are playing Nibbler and Kozzy through the middle and our forward pressure has dropped off a cliff. A key forward is also a must. Back up ruck or competent ruck forward. Plus more players with leg speed. This off season will be key to whether we can get back to competing for a flag or not.
-
I think he’s worth a look for a late pick trade. Seems his development and confidence was really stunted by the poor North management whrn he was first drafted. He’s also best mates with Bailey Laurie, whether that makes a difference who knows.
-
I think he can be a similar player to May personally. He’s being wasted forward. He’s an outstanding defender and was part of a flag at 21/22 years old

If we hold him over how is he meant to work his way into the side? very frustrating the vfl fixturing -

100% agree. Wonder if they will play TMac forward this week? -

If we can’t beat North even with LDU playing then it really is season over -
Has been showing some good signs and the FD obviously rate him. Not sure being a forward is his best position, so would love to see them move him down back especially next year if Tmac and Tommo leave.

I’d say zero. He played limited minutes in the VFL and hasn’t even had one afl level preseason -
Christian Petracca’s 2024 Season Ending Injuries

But that is essentially saying we can't trust the AFL but can trust the media. We have to take it on face value that the assessment and review were within guidelines. Whether those guidelines change as a result of this specific incident is another matter. -

The AFL did review and of course the cynical media still wanted to make a story. They wouldn’t care what the outcome was, it’s all about selling newspapers and getting clicks on social media.
