  1. Good to hear. We have definitely fallen behind other clubs in that space and clubs like Hawks, Saints and Giants have excelled. Whether you like social media or not (I hate it), it is ultra important to growing the club long term.
  2. I would actually be for a shorter season, but there is zero chance the AFL will do that due to the broadcast money they would lose. Shorting the quarters you would think would also affect that, given it would be less available ad times....
  3. I personally don't think shorter games will make me any more inclined to watch other games. I will generally watch a Thursday night and Friday night if I'm not doing anything and then maybe a Sunday arvo game. Do people really want to sit at home all day on the weekend watching 9 games? I doubt it.
  4. I think the coaching issue actually comes back to the soft cap reductions the AFL implemented in 2020 due to Covid. They've never returned these to what they were before from my understanding. Given there is generally only one specialised ruck on each team and a part time back up, it is hard to justify using the cap on a full time ruck coach when the Mids, Forwards and Backs coaches are probably more important. I get what you're saying, I guess with Gawn and Campbell on our list we probably view them as player/coaches.
  5. 100%. One of the worst rule changes they brought in. Would be a simple change and reduce delays in the game.
  6. I think Langford’s biggest strength will be that he can play anywhere on the ground. He will be a plug and play type player depending on what we need. Compare that to say a Jagga Smith, who will no doubt be an elite ball winner, but I don’t think he has that versatility in his game.
  7. Yeah, sure.... I guess I can re-watch it.... probably won't remember though
  8. That’s it, I’m booking the week off after grand final weekend for my 5 day bender
  9. The NBA has reducing numbers, but the AFLs is increasing, so not sure why he’s trying to draw comparisons between the two. I hated the 2020 season and the shorter games. Give it a rest Danger and if you’re not up to it retire!
  10. Will Verrall needs to work out ways to beat Tom Campbell. If he can’t do that at training he’s no chance of taking on the best rucks.
  11. Maybe with Alan's bookkeeper we could find a way around the salary cap though...
  12. Apparently mental health isn't important when calling a player a spud or calling for them to be delisted....
  13. Yes, but the club can replace a retired player either in the SSP or in the mid-season draft if the required paperwork is lodged. AFL tightens inactive player rules ahead of mid-season draft So if the club did lodge a Deed of Release form then they can replace that player, according to this article. I'm not saying this is what will happen or is happening, just saying it is possible.
  14. You can if the player chooses to retire. The club won't force him off the list, but he may have told them he isn't up to AFL anymore and wants to go back to WA. Anyway it's all speculation at the moment.
  15. TBF the level of speculation aimed at Clarry or Trac was immense compared to a comment that he hasn’t been back to training so perhaps he’s quit the club…
  16. If a spot opened up I believe we would have until Feb 19 to sign someone. This would require Luker and the club to agree to a contract termination I’d imagine. If he’s decided he doesn’t want to continue in Melbourne that could be possible.
  17. I guess I can eat more burgers if I have to
  18. Ahhhh right. I was wondering what that meant. Yeah seems he may have a bad hammy injury…. Not great signs given he’s already had multiple issues
  19. He was in training pics from Monday, so maybe illness today or something like that?
  20. Tbf I'd rather Lever not be calling for short kicks in the backline... he's a bit of a turnover merchant. Would much prefer a Bowey, McVee, Salem, Windsor be the one calling for short passes.
  21. Laurie also stood out at a session I went to in December with his fantastic field kicking. I really hope he makes it but he seems to struggle with the step up to AFL. If I had a choice though I'd give him a crack ahead of Sparrow Round 1, he adds something different to our mix and Sparrow is very similar to Trac, Clarry & Viney.
  22. Even stranger that in the photo they posted of him on instagram he is wearing a Casey Demons hat...
  23. Adams also looks to be putting on considerable size now...
  24. I'm not so sure they would match if he really wanted to go. If the Eagles finish bottom 3-4 they would net them two picks inside the top 5, which they desperately need. They are miles off at the moment, especially considering their best players last year were Jeremy McGovern (33 in April) and Elliott Yeo (31).
