Can I introduce a note of common sense to this DOOB situation ?? To achieve the correct decision on every occasion, we should be able to incentivise the umpire to get it right. I suggest that electrodes be attached to a sensitive part of the umpires anatomy. When they get the DOOB decision wrong, a member of the crowd ( preferably someone in the cheer squad) presses a button to deliver 500 volts to said sensitive part of umpire. On each successive occasion where they get it wrong, double the voltage. After the fifth or sixth error, they will be reluctant to get it wrong anymore. May be extreme, but would quickly get the rule interpreted in a proper manner.

I was informed by some self important little functionary in the second quarter of the Saints v Dees, when I asked for the air conditioning to be turned on as I was just about to collapse with heat apoplexy in the second quarter, that there was no such thing at Etihad. She ushered me into the St John Ambulance area where it was a fraction cooler at least. I expected to be revived by a gin and tonic taken orally. All I was offered was water. Appalling !!!!!!! No wonder we don't like Etihad !!!!

It's telling that the bomber fans on big footy and bomberblitz have said hardly anything about Oliver after Sunday's match. Not that we care what they think but I would say it is dawning on even the thickest Essendon fan that Oliver will be a one in a generation star.

A couple of years ago whilst I was watching a Dees V Bulldogs game my wife went outside and flicked off the power at the box. I think I was carrying on like a pork chop. After a couple of moments I grabbed my single malt and a glass with some ice went outside, Had a couple of triples and a sulk. I felt much better afterwards.

Perhaps a nice hairpiece for Uncle Bitters (or a mirken )

Would make quite a decent mirken ( or two ).
