  1. love your new avatar jaded...
  2. rolo im definitely interested again this time. cant guarantee with work commitments etc but will see what i can do. not sure if i can kick or handpass or run for that matter but if its a bit of fun im willing to give it a go.
  3. while i agree there it must be noted that bizzels game on sunday was fantastic. also i think frawley is going to be a key position defender rather than a third tall. i think him and carrol will get the talls while rivers takes the 3rd... out of interest before the game both yze and bate pulled out (i am assuming injured, i havnt read anything about them yet... could it be that maybe we were going to pull a late change that saw one of our talls not play but had to change things up with the injuries? either that or perhaps ND wanted frawley to be superfluous to our needs so he wasnt under a full game of pressure in his first. fwiw he has spent some time up the ground and on the wing hasnt he?
  4. i was impressed with nathan jones' leadership on sunday arvo...
  5. for mine that is a fair enough reason not too go. i think the people referred to in these sorts of threads are those who live close enough to go, can afford it, but chose to watch it on tv, but then claim to be hardcore supporters and who are willing to have a go at the club about things. if you really love your club and love the footy you would go to the games if you can.
  6. also isnt there a discount for signing up before christmas?
  7. if i will ill be keeping the money. not because i dont love the club. because i could use a thousand bucks in all honesty, $100 isnt a huge loss to the club. and to be honest, would you make your decision on whether to go to the footy or not based on if there was a 1 in 20,000 chance of you winning a grand? chances are the person who wins it was there last week, and the week before etc...
  8. fantastic to see yet another young kid get a run this year. this will mean 3 of last years draftees will now have gotten a run...
  9. no they wont - sandy has a bye
  10. with regards to the age im surprised that a deal wasnt struck whereby all melbourne members could get a good deal on the age being home delivered, and if one was struck i never heard about it...
  11. the way i see it is that playing bizzel is largely wasted regarding the future of the mfc. maybe ND chose bizzel because with the return of robo and mclean (pending) the side might be a bit under done, at least bizzel will get 20 touches and do a reasonable job, whereas with CJ it could go either way... but team selection reads like this: IN: 2 tall backmen, 1 medium backman, 1 medium forward. OUT: 1 tall backman, 1 medium forward, 2 small backmen. to me we havnt lost anything from the midfield from last week, sylvia spent virtually the whole game at FF. CJ would be a better choice than one of Holland or Bizzel (depending on particular match ups because we have 3 talls listed atm), imo this would even the team up a little. also another midfielder in for either dunn or miller. this would mean the bench would be a ruckman, a midfielder, a tall forward and a medium defender who can run a bit...a reasonable mix.
  12. he wouldve been as good as carey...
  13. fwiw i dont think that they are entirely dissimilar...the respective club websites have them at pretty similar heights and weights too...
  14. it wouldnt make much sense to put a young (18-19 yo) KPP with obvious talent who spent the first year after being recruited with a back injury on a one year contract would it? of course you'd give him 2 for developments sake...
  15. i thought he said that we did have running partners for him. but an in club partner is a bit different from an external guy who was a good mate of yours previously...i think thats why his offer was different...
  16. anyone catch it?
  17. i was too shocked after reading that line to read any more of your post.
  18. go the woohoo goal!! lol :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D
  19. i think from memory we chose the changerooms in the new stand because they were newer and better, bigger and more modern...but you'd think if they were ours (the ones in the southern stand which we were offered) some renovation could be done no worries...
  20. i think thats a very pertinent point old, i dont think at the start of the season any team could say that they are definite favourites for the premiership. while obviously one would point at the jaggurnaught that is west coast it only takes a couple of injuries to strike them down as well. if they lost judd, kerr, embly, lynch, staker, cox and glass do you think they would win the flag? probably not. they might not be 0-8 but they wouldnt be favourites or on top of the ladder. the clubs are so even with the salary cap and the draft that the difference between the lists is marginal. even if it is 60 points or 150 points on the weekend the true difference between the list is the little things. injuries, form, confidence, rub of the luck are the things that decide who wins the premiership. someone wrote in another post about 'if the planets are aligned', well thats how it is for every team. if everything had of fit into place this year we would be in the top 8 at the moment. if we were playing like we were last year, but had petterd, jones and dunn come on like they have, godders tagging as tight as it has been, and juice knocking on the door at sandy we'd be laughing. yes there are ways to fix this. confidence and motivation- could be coaching staff. psychologists? injuries? preparation and management. form? i've got no idea how to control form. but things can be decided simply by a ball bouncing the wrong way, or an unfortunate umpiring decision that costs you the match. if the umpires didnt pay that free against neitz and we beat PA they would be 5-3, playing geelong this week and a chance to drop to the bottom of the 8 if they lose. not second place, having been in first place.
  21. top article and really puts the man and the situation into a bit more context. a must read for everyone on the site i reckon to get more understanding into what has been going on...
  22. do we continue with 40 on the senior full time list and employ (or contract) 10 other players as reserves players only? do these players come out of the vfl pool? would they want to play for a team knowing that the team might not be about winning, it might be development, and knowing that even if they are the best player for a position they might not get to play there? or will these players stay at the other clubs... if all 10 vic sides had a stand alone side in the vfl, there is going to be a 20 odd team competition which is ridiculous. do we go to a 11 team reserves comp (including sydney perhaps) and keep the vfl as the vfl? or do we have a div 1 div 2 in the vfl where teams get relegated?
  23. i think we are the most optimisitc fans ever for a team who is 0-8. the spread is pretty even around 4 of the next 8, and about the same have predicted we'll win all 8 as have predicted we'll win 0. nice little bell curve, but its hard to believe we're so optimistic, reading alot of the rest of the site. most people think its not the injuries, but the only difference bettween the next 8 and the previous 8 will be personal on board and a lack of confidence that comes with not winning a game...
  24. who cares where they run out from? we should have permanent change rooms that are the demons rooms only.
  25. who cares? they can refer to it as whatever they want...but i thought the gym and our offices and stuff was our own, not shared. that can be called the 'barrassi centre' perhaps. we dont have to name the ground. but in all honesty, the mfc has more history, and is more relevant, to melbourne than either the 2 year old victory or the 10 year old melbourne storm. as much as i enjoy watching these teams, lend them my support, and wish them well, they are not the oldest football club in the world. we are.
