  1. i noticed that, i was a bit confused so i left it alone. it clearly didnt incite anything. i never said go and hate muslims because they were terrorists. in fact what i said did nothing but incite people to have a laugh.
  2. based on his ability to go missing, not only weekly, but on a quarter by quarter basis, for sandy, and in the preseason intraclub practice match. he has kicked 11 goals the last two weeks for sandy in 6 good quarters of footy. he has fantastic hands, a great leap, a lovely kick, is clean beneath his knees. we have had our two key forwards out for most of the year. colin garland was selected ahead of him even though he hasnt been setting the world on fire. all this and still the coaching staff (who are the people who know best) havnt picked him for the afl side yet. if that doesnt tell you something your not actually paying attention. if you want to know more about newton, read one of the many dedicated newton threads that have been around the past two weeks. im a fan and would like to see him get a go, but not until he is ready, and every indication is that he is not.
  3. because newton seems to have a fragile state of mind and hasnt been able to show yet that he will be able to stand up to the pressure of afl football.
  4. he needs to work on his contested marking, and pack marking...but otherwise he looks to have some of the goods for that position 20 touches (12 handballs) 5 marks and a goal...its a reasonable return...
  5. you know jaded, i also like warnocks agility. not many players his size can turn that quickly and in such a small circle...
  6. some recent terrorist attacks, many in fact, have been carried out by people in the name of islam. i dont believe they are being true to islam when they kill and murder, but they call themselves muslims all the same. this has nothing to do with whether you (or any other reader) thinks all muslims are terrorists. if you read that and think oh, muslims are terrorists, then you are either stupid or racist. if you read that and chuckle at the pun and never think twice about muslims being terrorists because you have enough understanding to know that it is only a sterotype then you have some semblance of intelligence. a comment like that is only racist if you choose to read it that way. other wise its simply play on words.
  7. who are you gonna bring in? almost everyone who should come in is injured... and we played with heart and endeavour today, and last week. ctting guys for trying hard isnt going to win games for us or help build the team...
  8. as important as the coach is, i reckon if neita wants to say something, you let him...
  9. holland got a game to cover for the injured rivers, and in particular to play on darcy up forward...
  10. he looked good didnt he? played alright chasing cornes last week as well...another string to his bow, perhaps we can fit dunn, miller, netiz, and robo all in the same side? that being said, dunn seems to be a natural forward. by paying him in the mid we are doing exactly what people are complaining that we did to davey and green. it is a touch hypocritical...
  11. agree to disagree then demon2. i can tell that you're the self righteous political correct type who jumps to defend any group that isnt white middle class male just because you have some inner need to prove your are a good person. a joke is a joke is a joke. same as a blonde jokes, same as a 'your mamma' joke, same as an irish joke. if you want to fight against persecution, take it up against the qland police, take it up in other places that matter, but not in a simple one liner/pun.
  12. it wont happen. he is our most important forward and the captain ofour football club. even if he was rested i couldnt imagine him not going to perth...he is too proud to do that...
  13. thats 3 weeks - west, burgoyne and goodes didnt that incident involving neita end up in a free kick the bulldogs way? yeah i agree with that, i looked for both but didnt see much of either. im not sure why they did that, gooders was having a lot of success...maybe they were worried godders was gonna hit back?
  14. i think we picked him as a star midfielder, but i think we are realising now that he is going to be a midfield/power forward instead and are using him as such...
  15. i know that sounds silly, and obvious, but think about it, 5 players are still to walk back in. mclean, rivers, wheelan, robertson, petterd. pickett is part of our best side when fit, and i think bartram is as well, but he will prob need to come back through sandy if petterd is playing well for the dees. thats 7 players who i think should be in our starting 22 and prob 3 of our top 6 or 7...injury problems are a long way from over and i think once we get mclean, rivers and wheelan back we will be a much different side.
  16. im neither racist nor a fool, and when i post on demonology i use the same name as this. i think that having the entire backpage of the newspaper devoted to a story about a player simply because he was a muslim is doing more to encourage the line of thought that muslims are different than this thread is. neither petterd nor alwyn davey got a full back page spread like that...if people are ignorant and think that all muslims are terrorists, they are the racists. a simple pun as a news headline is not racist by any means. its no different than when they write 'dee-lightful' or any other lame ass line. is he muslim? yes. is he a bomber? yes. so whats the problem?
  17. well said demon2, summed it up perfectly imo
  18. sorry i'll clarify myself...i wasnt saying i wanted him to be an out and out star this week. what i was saying was 'if he played like that every week, but was never the star with the x-factor who turns games' would everyone be contented? he has shown he can play, but he hasnt shown much magic at afl level.
  19. your post just proved that the server clock is 10 minutes out nasher
  20. at one stage i was thinking 15 touches and 2 goals, are we happy with that performance, would we take it every week, but he finished with 20 touches, 9 marks and 3 goals 1 behind. a couple of strong marks and a goal that could've won it for us if we'd been smarter. we all seem to expect sylvia to be a star with the x factor to change a game but should we be happy with 20 touches and 3 goals? i suppose if he doesnt kick the 3 goals he'll need to get more of it. i noticed once or twice today when i thought he didnt go in hard, but maybe he wasnt quite in the right position too challenge the player with the ball...i thought today was one of his better games for the club though are we expecting too much from sylvia? if he strings a few games like that together i'll be reasonably happy
  21. an important match up today. west got 20 touches, godfrey only 9, but i thought godfrey checked him pretty close today. i thought it was a reasonable tagging job. godfrey didnt hold him and tug him, like some other taggers do, just followed him closely and stood in between west and the ball. did anyone see what happened on the city wing in the 3rd quarter? i missed it but mclaren was looking straight at it and let it go. but godfrey was on the ground for a while and west was running away from him. the umps then watched godfrey pretty closely for the rest of the match. anyone see it? and howd you think godfrey played?
  22. i dont think ND is to blame for that. the defensive players called for it but the forwards didnt move. it takes a few moments for the coach to get on the phone, onto the runner then out onto the ground. by then the game had restarted...i think the players shouldve done it of their own accord...
  23. dont need a sandy membership - pretty sure you get into games with the dees membership?
  24. coz the papers love to use dodgy puns...maybe it would have got up if essendon had of won...
  25. i really can't believe that no one has used this catch cry or headline yet it the papers.
