i don't blame bailey for this one at all. these players are afl players and need to be up to standard. he is introducing a game plan that is meant to win an afl premiership. if players can't follow it they are out. if players try to follow it they are given time to learn, and improve their skills. these players are proffesional footballers. if they cant learn to kick and handball it is them who have the problems. we will see dramatic list turn over over the next 2 seasons.

newton played most of his juniors on a wing didnt he?

i'm not so sure...the rec stadium is simply the base for our admin, our gym and recovery, medical etc. we will train outdoors on an oval.

there was another time where white actually ran back with the flight of the ball and tried to take a speccy over a geelong/melbourne 1 on 1 contest (in the geelong forward line). he dropped the mark, and i believe geelong mopped up and kicked a goal. if you are in the back line, you have two options. mark or punch, and you only mark it when you are 100% of it.

junior footy is held throughout the day on sundays, so that is bad. senior footy is played on saturdays, so that is good. i work sundays so i will struggle to get to games. but have asked my boss to help me out with silly graveyeard shifts...hopefully i get to a few games...

RE would we drafted him or not, i think perhaps we would have drafted him, and then told him to have the first 12 months off, only swimming and bike riding, next to no running or kicking. the injury hasn't been handled well (and see moloney for another example), in that neither player has been allowed to completely recover before starting again. it would have been more beneficial to leave him out for two years and then have him start again, than to have him run himself into the ground trying to play when he is not ready...

yeah definitley very risky. i mean occo, how could we forgive ourselves if we got chad cornes to the club and warnock 'came good'? all that potentail just wasting away at sandy. we really shouldn't risk this trade.

I think DB's comments were right on the money. it is a two horse race of course we are a chance to win. We aren't that bad a team, we are in poor form. i am not saying we are the best, but i am saying we will have 22 afl players out on the ground. they are among the best players in the country and are definitely a chance of winning a game of footy. same as we were a chance the last two weeks. just remember that it will click at some point. and geelong could be going into this game taking us very very lightly...

Simon Buckley, James Frawley, Austin Wonaeamirri, Cale Morton are my picks for the bench. if davey doesnt play it will be moloney methinks, as he will play in the centre. i agre that aussie will be straight in. given sandy are playing port melb this week (and are thus restricted in the number of melb listed players) you would think that aussie would only have been elevated if he was gonna get a game. or if some one can correct me here, because i have assumed that rookie players dont count in the melb 12, but perhaps they do.

if she was adam goodes she would have only gotten a reprimand no matter how many priors she had...

Are you a member of the Melbourne Football Club?
deanox replied to Yze_Magic's topic in Melbourne Demons
spare memberships or spare wives?? :D -
i would like to see maric get a run if he has shown anything at sandy. he is a true crumber who knows where the goals are, and so often after the marking contest, the dogs just ran the ball out, no one on the ground...

marfa thats because everytime a collingwood supporter sits in the redlegs, they carry on, jump up and down and make so much obnoxious noise that they should do it in the collingwood cheer squad. (same applies for other teams supporters). if you want to sit in the members of another team you should behave yourself. the reason we sit in the redlegs is because we don't want to be surrounded by filth. on another note, your method is a cheap [censored] way getting out of a few bucks that the club could do with. if your mate wants to sit there make em pay the bucks to our club. otherwise go sit with your mate...

is going through a lifethreatening situation or illness a prerequisite for being a good bloke?

until he bulks up a bit its not a bad idea...

i was going to comment the same thing. i thought moloney did ok when he had it, but his efforts the other way were terrible. so poor i thought that chance played effectively as a loose man. but you are right pipefitter, moloney was playing on chance, we just don't know what the instructions were. if moloney was told to be accountable, he certainly wasn't and that could explain the dropping...

i agree wholeheartedly. the funny thing is, i know quite a few mfc/mcc members, but i don't reckon i know a single mcc member who also has signed up to collingwood...and i know quite a few collingwood supporting mcc members...

usually he gets a crowd figure and the hardball and clearance stats aswell....

if there was a relegation system in the afl, we would be the team that would get smashed in div 1, get relegated, win every game in div 2, go back up, get smashed in div 1 etc we have, with sandy, a great alliance, we have a pile of players too good for vfl but not quite ready to dominate at afl for whatever reason (either they won't or they are young) but we simply dont have the afl cream do we? congrats sandy, what a great result, at least if you add the deficits together we are up for the round (117-104 = 13 points). so the average margin in the sandy and mfc games was win by 6.5 points.

Dees to put down Doggies in return of 'The Kid'
deanox replied to Yze_Magic's topic in Melbourne Demons
you know what? i really like those ins and outs. i don't think robbo will go, although i think he should. even if its just as a wake up. it would be good to see bailey drop a couple of those senior players and say 'that wasn't good enough, someone else gets a go'. Because while weetra may not have had a great game, he wasn't at fault when we were bad last year. and he didn't makes the same mistakes two years ago, and he hasn't had a reputation for playing one way footy like a couple of the senior players for the last 5 years. weetra gave it a dig and i reckon for that he should be rewarded. -
basically if you are not sure how the bodies will respond, you cannot risk them at afl level. sandy is important yes, but if rivers came off the ground and said 'hey im a little tight through here not sure if i should keep going' if he was at sandy he could sit the rest of the day out. at afl level however he would probably be required to continue playing somewhat.

So demonland poy now rewards player who play well in victories, not players who work hard even when we are getting smashed? its an interested concept and i look forward to seeing how it pans out at the end of the year...

buckley looked alright. needs a lot of work on his disposal by foot. and perhaps needs to learn to take an earlier option, instead of always trying to take someone on. however, on sunday there were not always earlier options available to him...he was one of the few who actually tried to make some play, and he refused to handball sideways to a flat footed teammate. at least he looked to go forward.
-
im interested in this part. we won the tap outs, and were equal in the clearances (34 all i believe). we also had 46 inside 50's to 54. suggests we had our fair share of the ball, had our chances, but let ourselves down with the disposal...

maybe thats why we are holding onto him? by keeping him, we can lose him back to qland instead of one of our 'better' players. 'strong bodied KPP with leadership qualities'...i reckon we could sell him to the gold coast as captain material!
