  1. and robertson, bruce and green on last legs (all will be 29 or above me thinks)... also add junior to your original list. the core group of mclean etc will be around the 25 mark, and apart from the 3 i mentioned will be generally the oldest players at the club...
  2. yes but i hope we take it as long as they will give it to us. an extra mil a year for the next 5 years will really ensure we pay of all outstanding debts, and actually start to have money in the bank. once we have money in the bank we can earn interest, we can invest in anything - pubs, pokies, shares, property, what ever the brains trust determine the best use of our excess cash. then all of a sudden we are making our money work for us. increased profits will result as well as the acquisition of assets, and this means the club will be in a stronger position than before. the key is getting out of debt, and investing the money for a profit[/u. once that happens we will be ready to challenge the big teams very quickly.
  3. thats my answer too. i hate the idea, and i want to keep north in arden street, but id rather them than us.
  4. i read the same thing and if the victorian teams have any sense about them they will ensure this doesnt eventuate. it might be any one of north mfc, wb, hawthorn, tigers or saints who go first, but one of the teams will go if a 17th is granted. these teams should vote no to ensure their survival.
  5. is the contract to play the games signed? if it is the afl will have to pay out the contract for the roos wouldnt they?
  6. a tad crowded you only named 5 players! lol
  7. problems i have with miller: -his kicking -his marking under physical pressure (stationary 1 on 1) -his decision making the last point manifests itself in two ways. he a) takes way to long to move the ball on sometimes which kills whatever set ups we had forward and b)he often takes the handball option too quickly, but i think thats either an instruction or a symptom of knowing he takes too long otherwise. he really needs to learn the art of feeding into the 50. and he should be working with a kicking coach, biomechanics expert, anything for a couple hours a week to learn how to kick 55 metres. if he could mark on the 50 then slot a couple of goals, or mark at 70 and land it near the goal square he would be damaging. atm if he marks outside the 50 he is almost a liability...
  8. if you want to jump on the 3AW website, i think you can download the audio clips and you can write a script from there. i cant be bothered, between me and wise i think we got most of it...
  9. A couple other points I heard but otherwise you got most of the key phrases i jotted down... Question about the leadership group. DB said that David Neitz was the captain of the MFC and it is up to him if he wants to continue or not. If not we will go down the path of selecting a captain perhaps with some outsourced help (?) ie consulting (my mum spoke over it, not sure if he said consulting with the other players etc or consulting group on leadership lol) Question about all the coaches he had worked with, which one was he most like. DB said Kevin Morris (Richmond and Collingwood player (71-86), recruiting and then assistant coach at essendon from 1992 among other positions at other clubs) was very good for him, and he learnt a lot from him. Shaw and Pagan standout, Sheeds was the biggests impact. There were a few others he learnt a lot from but arent profile names... Question about what accelerates a coach, a senior position at mount gravat or assistant at afl level. DB answered by saying he didnt have a choice and had to start at the bottom. Said Sheeds gave him heaps of freedom when he was development coach at Essendon, got involved in everything, software and recruiting included. Question: can a big name player jump straight in and coach ala voss or buckley? very diplomatic. he has never met either, so doesnt know them, but knows they are great footballers and probably could with the appropriate experience around them. Regardin Miller, DB said he was 13 or 14 when they were both at Mt Gravat, mentioned the aggression, then said he will play both ends in the NAB cup. On our 150th year celebrations: DB basically said there would be lots of celebrations, but we need to win football games. celebration stuff will just happen, and we need to concentrate on football as well, his job is to win games. Talked up a good year to buy memberships. Thats pretty much all I heard, must have got the start of the interview...
  10. I missed the first bit, but took some notes...will get them posted shortly.
  11. 10-15 kgs of muscle will take 3-4 years to stack on however...
  12. A moniker (or "monicker") is a pseudonym, or cognomen, which one gives to oneself. The meaning is distinct from nickname, in that a nickname is generally given to one by another, and not chosen for oneself. from en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moniker we are still the melbourne demons. our mascot is still a demon. our logo now says melbournefc instead of being a picture of a demon. the demon with the m was a logo not a moniker. and technically as long as we continue to call us the dees or the demons we still have that as our moniker.
  13. jarka, you must consider what the aim of the recruiting was. after reaching the grand final in 2000 our aims were to get the extra edge to take us all the way - thus a number of mature recruits, that are now ocnsidered wasted picks by many. when we bottomed out in 2001 the club tried to asses what it percieved as weaknesses in the list. we know that failed. but since that time we have begun to rebuild a list from youth, and DB has ensured that perpetuates with his cleaning out of older players. DB doesnt plan on winning the flag next year, or the year after. but if we continue to recruit and develop well, in 4-5 years brock and col will be 25-26, most of the players on the list will be younger, and we will have a core group of leaders in the prime of their careers and a team of 23 year olds. we are half way through the development cycle now. consider CAC's reign thus far as the second half of one cycle and the first half of the next.
  14. they should be like me. get fire fox. install the spell check add on. and you'll never have this problem again. (unfortunately, it doesn't force capital letters like in word yet...)
  15. out of interest, do you know steve harris, have you worked with him and could you elaborate on your experiences? i am not saying he is not a problem, but apart from the odd comment on here regarding that turnover rate i have never heard a bad word about him, and would like to know any evidence as to why he is the reason and why it isnt other issues such as poor work place environment, poor pay, another staff member, lack of staff (resulting in extra work loads for others) etc. what makes you so sure steve harris is the problem?
  16. against the trend, i think it will be interesting. i would be happy for our players to play if they want to, but not if they are carrying niggles or injuries already. the chances of getting injured in this match is no different than in a normal match or at training so it shouldnt be a big issue. if they want players to play they should be offering rewards to clubs whos players participate - extra cash is the only thing i can think of but their has to be something...
  17. like 80% from all types of shots or something...
  18. from the afl website Jack Grimes – Northern Knights, VIC, 186.3cm, 81.6kg, DOB 11/5/89 Honours * NAB AFL All-Australian Under-18 Team 2007 * Vic Metro representative - NAB AFL Under-18 Championships 2007 * AIS-AFL Academy graduate * Ben Mitchell Medallist Alan McConnell, AIS-AFL High Performance Coach says: “Jack is an exceptional kick with both his right and left foot, he’s a good reader of the play and he’s got exceptional endurance as quantified by his testing. He’s an excellent leader. He was the Ben Mitchell Medallist in our national program this year, which is the award that is presented annually as part of the AIS program which centres on his leadership and role model potential within that squad. “He’s played his best football for the Northern Knights in the finals; when the games were most in the balance was when Jack played his best football. There were a couple of matches last year where he turned the game with his ability to read the play and influence the game with his use of the ball.”
  19. people queried rances height at 192 and this bloke is shorter...i dont mind or care, but he might be a bit short for a KPD, and could possibly fit the carol mould better...
  20. picked up at 21 in the 2001 draft, the horrible one we would all forget. mcguire is one of the players people constantly suggest we could have taken instead of our other selections...well i think we can say we had almost as much luck with molan as the saints are having with mcguire...
  21. i agree i couldnt careless about the demons. we have been the fushias and the redlegs among a few others, if it changes it changes, keep the red and blue, keep the jumper, keep the melbourne and the mfc, they are the most important bits. i didnt like melbourne hawks, because it was no longer melb but part hawthorn, and the change of colours, but if we changed to something else i dont think id care too much...
  22. im really tired. i read that as 25% of the worlds pokemon...i don't know why...
  23. ill tell you what, i have never been at a game and felt so much passion in the air...its amazing. there was even more feeling in that game than melb v carlton round 22, 2007... but seriously, thats a game id like on dvd...
  24. i still cant work out why we need a clash jumper. for the 2 or 3 games a year we need to wear a clash we should be selling our jumper design to some company that wants advertising (like the carlton blue smarty). make money out of that instead of selling home games, we dont lose tradition that way...
  25. i think its an under 23 criteria, but he fits that anyway...
